I think we found our regular lazy weekend morning breakfast place! There was a good mix of clientele here early on a Sunday. Seemed like a lot of regulars that have been going here for some time, some young high school kids, some people finishing up the night shift, and even some newbies like us! :) The wait staff were kind and attentive. The food is plentiful and not overpriced. Oh how I wish the cheese was something other than American slices! That would be the icing on the cake. Great to see this neighborhood place remodeled and busy. The staff are very friendly and efficient and definitely keep the coffee coming. The portions are huge. The downside: the food is just fair. American cheese in a mostly onions and green peppers omelet; needed seasoning. Biscuits were doughy and fairly tasteless. And not the place for 'good' (eg Starbucks, espresso) coffee . Waitress was amazing and sweet. We couldn't bring our dog to the outside seating bc she was alone but she gave us a piece of bacon for him small line at 6am! This is a quantity first type place. Huge portions. Omelets are stuffed full even with gyro meat so they don't skimp on that and if you are a hash brown person you get a giant portion. Pancakes are the size of your head. However one star off bc the oil tasted very stale and old. I couldn't eat my hash browns bc of that. Coffee is endless for 2.75. Breakfast for 4 with three coffees and tip was 73$. While I truly miss the Copper Dome of years past, the Coffee Cup is a good replacement. I always enjoyed going to the original Coffee Cup on Rice and Arlington, but this one is a bit more modern and maybe not as greasy (which I don't mind). Portions are very generous. Today, I had the turkey and Swiss omelet. I could have easily split it with the hubs. Lucky for me, I have enough left for a second breakfast (note: the omelet also came with a hefty portion of hashbrowns and 4 slices of toast). Hubs had a roast beef eggs Benedict and he loved it. The eggs were poached perfectly and he enjoyed the beef. His only complaint was that the English muffin was a little soggy, but he got over it. My personal opinion is that other early Yelper could have a tad more patience and grace for a literally day-old neighborhood small business. The diner looks amazing. The chairs and booths are comfortable. The coffee is terrific. I had a Greek omelette and bialy- superb. Portions are huge and the food was all fresh. My date had sausage, eggs and browns. Really good, too. One way to look at the delays on day 1 is that there's room for improvement. In fact that is just what the cashier told us they'd be focused on when they thanked us for our patience and support. Now they have relocated to Randolph and Hamline Ave. so far things work great we got exactly what we were looking for and if you look at the first page of their website generous portions is what they stood by. This last Friday.10/25 I ordered my husband his breakfast burrito that weighed about 5 lbs in my order of hashbrowns because I am a semi-vegetarian which weighed 2lbs. this am I semi vegetarian, I picked up my order in the box felt super light. Upon further inspection, they gave me 1/4 of my normal order so when I went back in the first thing, I noticed there was no Mi gente working. It was a whole different crew which I would thought since it's a Sunday and probably everybody went to church.. I'm very disappointed to say the least, I have been to the old coffee cup on rice street several time, never once did I have any issues. I get it was the first day, but a 45 minute wait, two people coming by and still we didn't get food and someone that sat after us was taken care of a lot better then us. Their order was taken and they were greeted fast. One lady from the old coffee cup asked what we needed and then vanished into thin air. Twenty minutes later the manager from the old coffee come came and bussed our table and took our drink order and food order, drinks never came. Out of respect for the coffee cup name and the great experiences I had prior to today I told them we were leaving. The manager was apologetic and said it's our first day. We ordered from DoorDash for breakfast. I got the bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich and my husband got the omelette. Both items were pretty expensive and the food was just poorly or not cooked. My bacon was very underdone and floppy. My husband is the least picky eater and he said the omelette tasted like the items in the omelette were boiled. I also ordered hash browns and they were translucent and had no flavor to them. Their takeout containers also have no ventilation so there's weird melting and could explain why the food tastes boiled. We're really disappointed. We don't mind paying above average for good food but this was all around bad. read more

Ok, so first off, I came here during the covid-19 pandemic and stay at home order (I had to be out for something else already), so this review will be different than normal. I love the original coffee cup and was super sad to hear about the fire. When I heard they were opening a location here I was so excited. I'd love to dine in at some point but not today. They do have a small customer parking lot next to the restaurant. I ordered ahead of time online and was able to pay online as well. It was super easy. They had my favorites as well as some new specials. I ordered a pancake (they are huge!!) And the egg bacon and cheese breakfast sandwich on Texas toast (also a big portion). I shared the meal with my husband when I got home. It was perfect for both of us. So anyway, when picking up my meal, when I ordered it, there was an estimated time it would be ready. I got there shortly before, and they had it waiting for me on a table. There was a woman who greeted me otherwise very little human contact, which in this case was preferable. For normal reviews this would not get good ratings but times are quite weird right now!! Social distance! I got my food home, and it was still warm and delicious as I remember from the original place. They just opened so this is such bad timing but I really hope they make it through this. Obviously most people are comparing The Coffee Cup on Rice street to this one, which is fair because that one is always incredible. This new one is no slouch though. The portions are just like always, very generous! I love a good diner breakfast and this just what this is. The food might not be as fancy as a brunch spot in downtown, but if you want great, hearty, hot, plentiful food, this is still the place. Since it is still so new, the staff there aren't completely set in the ways they are on Rice street with how attentive they were, but still so friendly and welcoming. I think once the new location is shakes off any rust, they will be at five stars in no time. 100% will be going back. read more

It crushes me that this fantastic restaurant opened at Randolph & Hamline (former Copper Dome) a month ago but social distancing is keeping the word from getting out. I have been trying different takeout or delivery options but usually quite disappointed and at top dollar cost. I had low expectations I'll admit. Happy to say, Coffee Cup is my new go-to restaurant easily! Day 1 Everything Omelet with hash browns, side of famous French Toast. I opened the box and was speechless. Huge hardly describes the glorious perfectly cooked everything. I split it for two meals, except French Toast because, honestly, it was the best French Toast I have ever eaten. Now I know what all the fuss is about with French Toast. Slightly crisp on outside and almost soufflé of light creamy inside. Day 2 Gyro sandwich with fries. First, they are steak-cut style and again, perfectly crispy outside and fluffy fresh potato inside. I was pleasantly surprised the gyro is outstanding on a grilled pita with generous portion and I liked their tatziki sauce even though it's more like a light sauce than the thicker yogurt kind. The food here is very good, clean with nice lighting. However, the restaurant is very cold, everytime we visit. When we were there Friday morning 07/16/21 at about 845am, there were two servers and 4 or 5 tables, maybe 10 people all together. Our food took well over 30 minutes to get to our table and arrived just to the good side of warm. While the breakfast sandwich I ordered was really good, it cooled down very fast due to the cold air pumping through the vents. After finishing, our server offered to bring the check, we said "yes" and waited and waited and waited while more and more people began to arrive. After ten minutes and being passed by our server 5 or 6 times, we went to the register to pay, telling server at the register, we had not received our bills. She asked our table number, found our orders, I paid my bill and my order was closed. Well guess who show's up with our freshly printed bills? Yes, our server. She jumped in front of the young lady running the register and shoves my bill into my hand, saying I owed that amount, the young lady tries to tell her that I already paid. I told her I already paid and showed my receipt, she seemed baffled for a moment, long enough for the other lady to kind of throw up her hands and extract herself from the area, shaking her head as she walked away. Things seemed to click for our server and she says to me, "your all set right?" I say "yes" and as my friend goes to pay....their internet went down and he had to pay cash. My advice when you visit and you should, because the food is very good with big portions that you can take home to reheat and enjoy your meal good and hot. BTW, wear long sleeves, long pants and maybe a scarf, it will likely be very crisp and cold inside. read more

This was the WORST service I have experienced in a very long time. I understand busy but it should not take 2.5 hours to eat breakfast. I understand crowded but our waitress neglected our table, ran in and out of the restaurant, handled our food without washing her hands, etc. Our food arrived overdone, the pancakes cold by the time she brought the syrup. I called to complain and was basically met with a lukewarm response and sarcasm. I will never eat there again and would not recommend it to others. We couldn't even get the server's attention to complain.
