[[HIGHLIGHT]]Love the "Hey Cafe" coffee, the beautiful architecture, the indoor/outdoor layout[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]... The salads are great, the sandwiches ok, and the preparation of the wraps somewhat of an afterthought. Caesar's salad chicken wrap came without dressing, and the breakfast wrap without salt. That said, the salads were delicious and the coffee excellent whether hot drop or cold brew. Service experienced there recently has been slightly impolite.

Recommended place for brunch in New Orleans. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The cafe is bright, clean, and welcoming.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The menu is full of delicious vegetarian and vegan options. We enjoyed the vegan curry scramble ($11). Note that a 12% service charge is added on all orders even dine in when you order at the counter.

Satsuma never disappoints. I stopped in for a late breakfast and ordered the Mexican breakfast plate with a side of crispy bacon--and it was exactly what I needed. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The eggs were perfectly cooked, the beans were seasoned just right, and the avocado tied it all together. And that bacon? Super crispy and exactly how bacon should be done. The vibe at Satsuma is relaxed and welcoming, with that unmistakable neighborhood café feel that makes you want to linger a little longer. Great spot for a casual breakfast or brunch in New Orleans--definitely one of my go-to favorites.

Not my favorite coffee, I wish they had more options but I'd go back to try the food menu.

i absolutely love this place. i am so glad that i moved to a house a few blocks away from this cafe because i've been here more than maybe any other spot in new orleans. [[HIGHLIGHT]]everything is delicious, the servers are all super nice, and it's even a cute place to sit and get some work done.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]there's outside seating for when it's not so hot, and although it's always busy inside, i've never had to wait too long for a table.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] i've ordered the avocado toast, the mexican breakfast plate, the yogurt fruit & granola parfait, and the curry scramble and everything is sooooo good. my favorite breakfast in the city!

Sorry I failed at taking pictures here. We all got the breakfast sandwich, some with sourdough toast, and another with a croissant. I did not like the croissant. Personally it was a bit over cooked. The sandwhich had egg, bacon, and cheddar. Also the juice options listed on the menu weren't available. It's like they make a bunch in the morning and once they're gone, they're gone. Service was ok? Line was out the door, we had to walk to the register to order. Ambiance was ok, once we ordered there was no issue getting a table

All in all a good experience! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Order & sit wherever you want.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The pancake is so big, and delicious! I recommend. Ordered the special for lunch - A turkey bacon cheddar wrap with honey mustard. Super yummy!!! (The specials are posted online and at the front by the register.) Two issues with the coffee orders (one was forgotten about & the other had to be sent back) BUT they fixed everything super fast! And everything was great once we had what we wanted/ordered. Super friendly/helpful staff. Water is self serve which I like. [[HIGHLIGHT]]And the cups are cute.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I like this place and would come back. Decently priced.

Nice place, great location. Bright and roomy inside. Food was brought out in a reasonable time. Flavor and taste was good. Did not like the fact they charge 12% tip On any order ( I can see if I ate in- but even to go orders)

Satsuma might actually be perfect. They have wonderful coffee and some of my favorite breakfast items in New Orleans like the vegan tofu scramble, their homemade biscuits with jam and always perfect sunny side up eggs. The people who work here are joyful and eager to put their guests at ease. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Love the outdoor seating but the inside is just as light and airy![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Tip: Drip coffee gets free refills

Inside of the place, guy in the green shirt looked like he was on a date making moves ;)

I like this spot as a breakfast place to have a relaxing breakfast. The place is nice, minimalist, cool place to hang. Basically, your order your food, pick a table and a number and they deliver the food to your table after is ready. They do add 12% to your bill while ordering which is different to what I am used to but it is what it is, doesn't really bother me but more of a heads up. Food, honestly was ok, I order a dish w eggs, avocado black beans and 2 flour tortillas. It was like $10 for the dish. The beans were supper tasty and the tortillas were on the cold side. Overall I would give this dish a 3.5 stars. My daughter had a green sandwich, which she liked but felt it needed some sort of sauce to make it pop, otherwise she said it was bland. I would go again if in the area but will be inclined to try other spots before coming back here.

Satsuma is one of my favorite breakfast places in the city. There coffee is perfection! The food offering range from healthy to decadent with my favorites being the green sandwich and brunch specials like todays with pork and potato hash with lots of veggies, topped with two eggs and a big biscuit with homemade jam. Always a treat but nourishing too.

The line was out the door, but it moved quickly.

Ask the Community - Satsuma Café

Does satsuma have all day breakfast?

They do serve breakfast all day though they do close at 5pm so no dinner options. The daily specials will tend to run out by the afternoon on the weekends but I'm pretty sure their menu live updates on the website to let you know.

It was very cute and nicely decorated. Our server was on top of it and gave us time to decide on what we wanted without pressuring us even though it was somewhat close to their closing time. The food was delivered quickly and was piping hot. Everything we had was excellent. The shrimp étouffée was tremendous, the flavor was on point neither the rice nor shrimp overcooked. The side salad was a good salad. The chicken sandwich was cooked nicely and seasoned well (not overly seasoned). We finished our lunch with a cookie, slice of cake and a couple lattes which were all wonderful. Definitely recommend.

We were a party of 3 adults and 2 children (one being only 2 years old), and because of that they changed our table type from a 4-top to a 5-top and made us wait an additional 30 minutes. Meanwhile, multiple tables became available that easily could have accommodated us, but the hostess was determined to keep telling us we had to wait. To make matters worse, there was open bench seating in the back where customers ordering to-go could sit. I offered to order food to-go so we could at least sit down and get started while waiting, and she told me if I did that they would remove our name from the waitlist because "you have to pick one or the other." No willingness to problem solve whatsoever. She repeatedly said she was "sorry," but her actions showed the opposite. I was simply trying to work together to find some reasonable solution instead of continuing to watch everyone else get seated while our family, including small children, kept waiting. Absolutely horrible customer service experience.

Their coffee is also really good and pairs perfectly with the food. The staff does a great job keeping up with the rush. The only downsides come down to space and logistics: Limited Seating: There is very little room inside, so it fills up fast. Outdoor Seating & Smoking: Because inside is tight, you often have to sit outside. Unfortunately, people were smoking in the outdoor seating area, which makes for a pretty unpleasant experience if you're trying to enjoy your food and fresh air. Parking: It can be quite a hassle to find a spot on busy days, so be prepared to circle the block. Overall, the food and drinks are a 5/5 and absolutely worth the trip, just keep the seating and parking limitations in mind if you're planning to stay and eat!

There is also a charming courtyard if you want to soak in some sunshine. I first learned about this bakery when staying at the Hotel Villa Convento across the street. They served their buttery rich croissants as part of their continental breakfast. (I'm not sure if they still do.) Now that I have a house in the Quarter, I take a morning stroll over here to pick up croissants to take home. The butter croissants are a bargain at $3.50. I also love the chocolate & almond (both are $3.95 each), as well as the crisp & flaky Palmiers & delicate Almond Florentines.
