I absolutely love that I can call this location and tell them what I want and its ready when I arrive. Lately, a new employee named Arya has been helping me. She's super sweet and has turned me onto lavender lattes. Oh my god, I thought I wouldn't really like it but let me tell you I am ADDICTED. They also have some food options if you are hungry! I got a mixed berry smoothie from here, especially because it looked like they made their smoothies with fresh fruit. I saw the barista put syrup in the smoothie, and it tastes like nothing but sugar. Too sweet & I don't think there's any fresh fruit for it to be labeled as "local" fruits on their menu. I dig this drive-through. Marty is the best! They use good, well roasted beans. Plus, Marty is a wizard. Unfortunately, not all the employees are super consistent when it comes to steaming milk- sometimes it's velvety smooth, sometimes the bubbles are too big and the creamy texture just isn't there, depending on who makes it. I recommend the small latte for a great milk:espresso ratio (10oz with 2 shots). The iced orange coconut latte is delicious. The pop tarts rock! Do try one. The liege waffle is meh. Breakfast sandwiches are very good. Keep in mind: They make your beverages and sandwiches when you order them, so if you're in a hurry, maybe go somewhere else. Being someone who spent the last 4 years living in Portland, OR and having some of the most amazing coffee and the friendliest baristas ever, I know that my standards for coffee stands are pretty high. I was totally impressed with Coffee Shop in Alamo. The barista was super friendly, took time to chat with me despite the line, explain some of the most amazingly creative items on the menu, and made the perfect recommendation for me based on my tastes. I had a maple latte and an avocado smash for breakfast. I told the barista (I wish I remembered his name, dang it) that I like my coffee very sweet and creamy and he seriously made it perfectly. The avocado smash was excellent, the toast was crisp, the flavor was fantastic with cilantro, lime and queso fresca. Overall the coffee and meal left me wanting breakfast to come again ASAP. Upon further investigation, I found out they have other locations in Lafayette and Walnut Creek. They do fresh squeezed organic juices and smoothies. Use fantastic coffee roasters like Stumptown, Anchorhead and Zolo. It's no surprise they won Best Coffeehouse in the East Bay from Diablo Magazine last year. I plan on making regular visits to Coffee Shop from now on. read more

Food and drink is delicious. Customer service is spotty. Today we pulled up, and did not even get a greeting or a thank you have a great day after the transaction was over. The person that helped us was not friendly at all. No smile, no please or thank you. The person who was not helping us was friendly though, and even asked how our day was while we were waiting for our drink. This made up for the lack of customer service from the other employee a little bit. Then we asked how she was doing and she said "I'm good, but tired". My LO was asleep in the car and I didn't want to wake her up to haul her into a coffee shop so I opted for the Coffee Shop drive thru. I don't know of another coffee kiosk in the tri valley. The reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is that their portions are smaller and more expensive than other nearby coffee places. I brought my own cup and got no discount. I wanted my 20 oz. cup filled with cold brew. The guy working there said they could only do 16 oz. They have a lot of custom options for coffee and good food options but no Pumpkin Spice Lattes and food takes about 10 minutes depending on if they have to make it. This really backs up the line. I don't live near Alamo any more but will stop by this little coffee hut sitting in the CVS parking lot because they make the most perfect power green smoothie with its flavor and texture. Hands down this is absolutely my favorite smoothie in the Bay Area! I also tried the avocado smash for the first time and you can tell the owners of this business make it a priority to use fresh, quality ingredients (to make people like me keep coming back!) So disappointed the last couple of times I've stopped in the morning on my way into work to grab coffee and avocado smash- one of my favorite menu items from the Lafayette/WC locations! The avocado smash has been my go-to item from the drive thru until recently. I thought once was a fluke but now it's been twice and I don't plan on ordering it again- especially since I felt ill not long after eating it. The avocado spread was more brown than green (day-old avocado anyone?) and the bread was more chewy than toasted. Only a tiny sprinkle of cheese, no cilantro or trace of lime juice for flavor. I am a fan of the Walnut Creek location... but I stopped here as I thought it was going to be "quick". Stopped by on a Saturday morning around 9:30 and waited about 20 minutes to get a coffee. I ordered a 10oz. almond milk latte... what I got was steamed almond milk (no foam) and a dash of coffee, which cost me $5.25 .... I think it boils down to sure you sell "good" coffee but if your baristas can't take the time and care into creating a GREAT cup of coffee, than why bother. BEFORE it became the Coffee Shop, I used to visit this drive through on my way to work. It was OK, nothing to write home about. One day I went through and realized it was under new ownership and owned by the same people as The Coffee Shop in Walnut Creek on Locust...woo hoo! I was THRILLED because I LOVE their coffee. And then I looked at the new menu...be still my heart. Tried the avocado toast (smashed avocado, lime, cilatro and a Mexican type crumbly cheese), be still my heart! In addition, they have organic smoothies, all the good stuff that is healthy AND delicious! Then the icing on the cake...the guy who works there, Marty, he simply ROCKS on so many levels...customer service galore! Remembers my order. I can call in so my order is ready for pickup when I get there (the dual drive through lines can get long because heck, the place is GOOD!). I highly recommend. Note: It has a $$$ rating but c'mon people, I don't agree at all! You're getting very high quality products from this place. You get what you pay for. I find the prices to be very reasonable. Bad coffee, over priced and bad service. I will never get a coffee here again. I ordered a coffee but wanted only 1 shot in a tall cup, but the person charged me for 2 shots just because I got a larger cup. The coffee is bad quality and is very expensive compared to what you can get at Peet's or Starbucks. To put the icy on the cake, I heard from multiple people that the woman who owns it is a mean spirited gossip who talks about every woman in the community. So happy to have this as a drive through option in Alamo. Especially since it's a much smaller, local chain than other companies we have in the area. They have great tasting coffee, the people are friendly and they also have some great tasting pastries and food. Also happy not to have to drive in to Walnut Creek and can have this coffee more often because parking in WC can be a nightmare these days.
