Coffee Xchange has good blended drinks called Xtreme they are supper smooth. Try the chai with a shot, I love it. I also often get the flavored coffee, they have a new flavor daily. This is a good place to get schoolwork done but if the internet is not working, let the staff know and they will reset it. I usually get food elsewhere, it is average. They also have a drive though which is great so you can support a local place on the run. read more

Flies in the pastry cabinet. Warm and smelly cream left out with no thermos or way to keep it cold. No fresh decaf... instead they gave it to me old and bitter and heated up in the microwave. The drinks are ok but there have been times our group has had the wrong order or missing a drink. Also they advertise delivery but never have a person available to deliver?? I know someone who worked there and said food safety/storage is questionable. The coffee is pretty good, but the owners are terrible and know nothing about customer service. Espresso tastes like crap, seriously. They have amazing menu options, but the quality of the food itself is rather poor and very overpriced. The baristas and employees are very friendly, but DO NOT TIP because a large percentage of the tips are pocketed by the owners due to a high overhead. Love this place. It's on the way for me, and my boyfriend and I have stopped here many times to pick up a bagel or sandwich and coffee. They have a good brew and just-as-good food! The workers are all younger people but they're very friendly and will work extra hard to set you up with the perfect order. I usually get a toasted bagel, which is admittedly a little pricey for a bagel w/ cream cheese, and my boyfriend usually gets the xtreme works sandwich for breakfast. We always come back though! This location of Coffee Exchange is easily accessible by bicycle, pedestrians, people out for a walk near the Wash. Before 10am is a nice time to go as the traffic is less if you want quiet. There is outdoor seating, but the traffic is noticeable and hopefully the fighter jets aren't roaring by on top of the Tanque Verde traffic. In spite of environmental noise, it's comfortable to stop in there, grab a beverage, pause to read something or check your phone before you hit the road. Their coffee is their signature and their banana bread is superb. For Wild Cat fans, this is a strong territory for such, but their clientele accompanies anyone from students to any gamut of professions. It's a place where you can be who you are. The staff and manager recognize and appreciate regular customers as well as new visitors. read more

There is a manager here (I think he's a manager) who's is very rude and hostile and he's almost always there at night. The only appeal of this place is that's open 24/7. But you can't even go in and order something without him being rude and short with you, or without him yelling at another employee. This will be a short review. I'm annoyed. I drove up and spoke to the speaker and an obviously young woman asked what I wanted. I said, "iced Chai, whipped cream please" she said, "cool". Then I said, "I'm not done, I'd also like a bear claw" she said, "cool". I drove up, got the bear claw and the Chai. I drove away. About a mile down the road I tasted the Chai. Worst Chai I've ever had. The milk tasted bad, or maybe it was the spices, I dont know which but I ended up throwing it and therefore my money into the trash. You want a great Chai? Go to Cartel Labs. Now That's Chai. This tasted like sour milk. Ew. And to the young woman behind the counter, "cool" is not an appropriate response. "Thank you", "is that all", "would you like anything else" these are appropriate responses. Choose one. Anything but "cool". God I hate writing bad reviews. Here is a good point. Fabulous bear claws. I love this place! The employees are extremely helpful, attentive and friendly. After only a couple days of studying there, they already knew what "my drink" was, they're awesome! The coffee is good (to be honest, I'm not really a coffee connoisseur-- I put too much cream and Splenda in it to really be able to taste the "real" flavor of the coffee). I've had a number of their food items and I've never been disappointed. It's a great place to study, as there are quite a few tables. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is that the last few times I've been there a few of their lights were out, and that greatly reduced the number of tables that were comfortable for studying (which most of the people present at that time were doing). Also, not five stars due to their hours changing-- they used to be open 24 hours, but close at 10 or 11 pm everyday now : ( Nonetheless, this is my favorite go to place for studying. read more

I formerly reviewed this establishment with a higher rating, but as time goes on, and as I'm forced to stop in there, due to Safeway's lack of early morning hours, I feel compelled to alter my opinion of it. I think it stinks. True, the staff are very friendly - and that's the only good thing I can say about it. Here are the bad points, in no particular order: There is a certain (Latina, Mexican, ???) female with a large birth mark on her jawline who works there who CAN NOT separate herself from her cell phone. I think she needs actual surgery to have it separated from her hand. She treats the customer as if they are second in priority. She will attempt to take your order while checking, and responding to, her instant messages or whatever and with boredom stamped clearly on her apathetic face. And then she'll make you repeat your order because she wasn't paying attention in the first place. Secondly, if you try to order a bagel, as is - meaning: just throw it in a bag, uncut, not toasted, no butter or cream cheese - they will still charge you the $2.40 or so, as if you've ordered the cream cheese and whatnot. I can go to a grocery store and buy a bag of six bagels for just slightly more than that. Seriously, guys: Make adjustments to that. Furthermore, the place is kind of an eyesore. It looks more like a poorly kept frat bar from the street, with those junky looking, stupid vinyl signs declaring that the place is run by University of Arizona alumni (And who gives a cold crap anyway! Like the fact that it's run by UofA alumni means they'll have good quality coffee - which they DO NOT) and some haphazardly strung and half burnt out Christmas lights, not to mention that godawful, rusty, Barney purple railing that surrounds the "veranda!" If you're not going to serve good, gourmet coffee, you better damn well at least put some thought into the aesthetics of your establishment. And for the love of God!!! Please stop going around to the tables and asking people if they're alright, or if you can get them anything. You are running an (inferior) coffee shop, NOT a diner. When people go to a coffee shop, they order their drinks and stuff and then they sit down to work or socialize. They don't expect, or want, a waiter/server coming around to their tables. Take some notes from GOOD coffee shops, guys, if you expect to run one. I give this place two stars, but I really feel like it should only receive one. The only reason I'm giving it two is because most of the staff are very nice. If it weren't for that, they would only be getting one star from me. And if you insist on keeping your current outdoor decor, I suggest a change of name, perhaps to something that refers to a college frat house or a dive bar, because that is your image. Here are my humble suggestions: Coffee Slingers. Coffee Dive. Only a Little Better Than Dunkin. Frat House Eyesore Coffee. The Ugly Purple Railing. Puddle of Caffeine. Last Coffee Resort. Messed up the whole order. I ordered a BLT sandwich and they cut only one of the bread, not the full sandwich, and forgot the mayonnaise. I also ordered a turkey pesto press, and they gave us something completely different. To top it off when I returned one of the sandwiches before being able to see the other, they gave me a refund of that sandwich and asked if I would like to get a pastry and something to replace the sandwich. I replaced the sandwich with clam chowder and got a bear claw for the pastry. As I got home the "bear claw" was a danish and the clam chowder was that crappy Campbell canned jello soup bs... Overall their sandwiches are over priced for how small they are. They range from 6-$8 for a sandwich that can't even fill you up all the way. Honestly, I could go somewhere way better than this place for a whole meal for that much. Their employees are inexperienced at making any kind of food what so ever. The only reason this place even deserves one star is for their chai and that's it but never am I going here again after the many times they've messed up my orders.
