I had one morning only in downtown Miami and was dying for Cuban food and drink. Having an overnight as a flight by attendant means I only go where my feet can take me so Hialeah was unfortunately out of the question. I passed this shop while on the hunt for the post office, the back has a lit up sign that just says "coffee" and indicates a hole in the wall type of place. The front has a walk up order window, and there is also seating available both inside and outside. It's clean, easy to access, menu is clearly visible. I did not see this place when I looked for Cuban cuisine on Apple Maps, but on yelp I had found Cortadito Coffee House and was going to try their coffee but it's nearly $4 for a Cortadito there and here at Coffee Zone, I saw it's under $3 (as it should be). ***When in southern Florida, there are two Cuban coffee fundamental truths for finding the real thing: it comes in a mini styrofoam cup, and it is $2- something, never over $3.*** Janet and Gaby were the ladies at the helm, I spoke to Janet in Spanish and she responded in Spanish (I appreciate those who are kind enough to let me practice my Spanish). I ordered the Cortadito and she clarified if I wanted espresso or a Cortadito (espresso with milk). I confirmed my choice of Cortadito (they used Bustelo, once again as they should), and in short order I had my lil mini styrofoam cup of joy in hand. At first sip I was so entirely content. I don't usually drink coffee and I only will these days if it's a *good* Cuban Cortadito. So walking in the sun with my favorite coffee, my soul was happy. This is where it gets interesting. I ordered at the window so from the menus, I did not see any Cuban pastries or snacks and I did not see a medianoche (Cuban sandwich) available, although they do have the two hot plates that smushes and toasts the bread. So I decided to go to Cortadito Coffee House and get my Cuban finger foods and sandwich. While there I decided to try their cortadito and do a taste test (with this much coffee I'm bound to start seeing sounds soon). Cute place, great service, great marketing, not trying to put them on blast but the comparison is crucial. Came in a mini cup (not styrofoam), and I tasted it, and it honestly was not good. It was the taste up against a REALLY good and authentic one that I could tell the difference. **If I did not know better I would think it's fine** but I do know better, my Cuban friends have made sure of that. It's like having cappuccino in Italy and then coming back and ordering one from Starbucks and experiencing the supreme disappointment that first sip will give you. It was such an obvious difference that I didn't even want this fancy Cortadito (which costs like $4 btw) and I walked BACK to the Coffee Zone to get Janet and Gaby's names to do this review and let them know that the Cortadito they made me was beyond amazing. So this review is to put this place on the map of good, authentic Cuban coffee, the place I will be returning in my next downtown overnight. This place is such a gem! I'm here all the time because it is right next to my office and I get my coffee here in the morning. I genuinely love the food, it is SO GOOD and not to mention that the prices are are pretty decent compared to all the nearby bakery's/ restaurants. The food was soooo delicious. This restaurant had a complete transformation bc now they are an "after hours" coffee shop, though they also serve a lot of good food (I recommend the Cajun pasta!). One of the only food places that I know that are open until really late, I believe they open at 8:30 PM and close at 4:00 AM. I was wicked early for an interview, and needed to grab a quick bite and prep. Coffee Zone was conveniently located in the building I was having said interview on the first floor. The coffee shop/convenient store offers empanadas and other pastries and baked goods, sandwiches, cold drinks, colada and other coffee beverages. I ordered eggs with cheese and whole wheat toast. It wasn't bad. The food came plastic wrapped on stryrofoam, which leads me to believe it was already prepared and was heated. But this didn't matter. It was food and needed substance after making the hour and a half drive to Brickell in Miami. Being that Coffee Zone is located in 1101 Brickell Drive towers, which hold both offices and residential condos and apartments, parking is going to be either garage or valet and expensive -- unless you're lucky to find street parking. Additionally, mainly those who live in the condos or work there are mainly going to frequent Coffee Zone, but it's a good place to go if you don't feel like driving around and need something fast. Plus there's a post office right across the hallway, so there's that. read more

Don't expect them to be open at 7:30am like they say. I live in the building upstairs and they have signs posted in our building stating the 7:30am opening time (so does Yelp and G maps). I placed an online order at 7:30 to pick up before my 8am meeting. Downstairs at 7:45 and the place is deserted. My pick up time was estimated at 7:54 so I tried to give it until then. Around 7:52 they came in and started turning the lights on. Obviously the order wasn't ready, they said 10 min. I said I didn't have 10 min so I'd have to come back later to pick it up. This was a major inconvenience. I had also asked for "very light mayonnaise" on my sandwich but still had to take off the bread because there was was too much. My wife frequented this place because it's close to our apt. Today she ordered her usual and they made it with peanut butter, not what she ordered. My wife politely mention that it was not made correctly and asked for them to remake it. The staff member berated my wife and argued with her that they did make it correctly even though my wife gets the same thing every time she goes. After yelling at my wife in front of a mostly empty restaurant they took the food to the back and said they would remake it just this once as a courtesy. When my wife got home she noticed that they hadn't remade it but just grabbed a peanut butter off the top leaving large traces of a nut that she's allergic to and sent her home with it. If you have any nut allergies or allergies at all I would be very careful going to this place because there is clearly a lack of allergen training, not to mention your staff is berating customers. read more

Just found out about this place, came here last night July 8 2023. I can honestly say that this is the best late night spot in Miami! Great meals! Now if you want to find it, get inside the1101 brickell ave building, it is located behind the USPS office. They have the BEST prosciutto mozzarella sandwich in the area,$ 6.95 made fresh on baguette with olive oil and herbs. It is quite big compared to Au Bon Pain a few blocks away. I also tried their gyro kebab which was also very good. They have a big selection of cuban/latino meals for reasonable prices. I work in the building, so this is a convenient spot for me. Their cafe con leche and cortaditos are AMAZING, but way overpriced for Miami. Their pastelitos are good, nothing legendary. My favorite part of their breakfast spread are the empanadas. They have yummy options, like spinach/cheese, ham/cheese, etc. Their lunch options are generally good, but again, nothing to rave about. The staff is always very nice and they work fast. My only complaint is that they include a tip option in all of their purchases, and sometimes I feel like they push this too much. It just doesn't give a good impression. Overall, I'd definitely recommend paying the price to try their cafe con leche. It's definitely one of the best that I've had - and that's coming from a lifelong Miami resident! read more

After an early morning start my husband and I pack our baby in the stroller to look for some café con Leche. We do our usual yelp search and we come across coffee zone. As we are walking to coffee zone which is a good couple of blocks we are getting excited. We are big cafe con leche people!! We go into a huge office building and follow the signs to coffee zone. The door is AJAR with a paper flimsy sign that says will be back in 15 minutes. So instead of waiting in a narrow hallway with a stroller we walk inside and sit at the table. Mind you this establishment is in an office building. We don't touch anything, we don't even browse, we just sit and wait patiently for anybody to come back. The attendant comes in and immediately berates us and says "well I didn't think anyone was going to walk in here after seeing that sign". My husband and I look at each other and say "well the door was wide open and we have a stroller and we did not want to block the hallway". She brushes us off and says "well now I'm going to get fired because my boss is looking at everything through a video camera" We said, "well we didn't take anything nor touch anything we patiently waiting for you" (we certainly wouldn't steal LOL) Again she rolled her eyes brush this off and said "OK so what do you guys want, i'm going to be in trouble with my boss" My husband clearly offended says "if this is going to be a problem for you then we can leave" She says "well whatever you already here what do you want" My husband and I packed our baby and hightailed it out of there. There was no way we were going to spend our hard earned money with someone who was clearly rude and clearly blamed us for her incompetence and for her leaving her place of work. We didn't even mind that we were waiting 15 minutes in an unattended small space to be serviced. However we were an inconvenience to her. After being a loyal customer at Coffee Zone for the past two years I think it's finally time I post a review. This cafe is located at the back of the 1101 building on the first floor. You never would really know it's there unless you work in the building or are observant enough to pay attention to the signs out front. The employees here are absolutely phenomenal. They are so nice, friendly and do their best to ensure their customers get the best quality service possible. There was even a time when there was something wrong with my order and they immediately started making me a new one. They were genuinely concerned about my experience and made sure I left happy. It can get pretty busy here in the morning and especially during their lunch rush. All of their food is made fresh to order so you can ensure that you're getting quality food. Sometimes the wait can be long but that can easily be avoided if you order online or just call in your order. No line no wait! Their prices are extremely reasonable especially for being in Brickell. You can buy a very hearty meal for less than $10. My go to would be the grilled tilapia lunch special which comes with tons of rice, beans, and plantains! I also enjoy getting their breakfast sandwiches. Depending on what you order (I like to get fancy with a croissant) it will come out to less than $6. Anytime we have visitors in our office i always recommend this cafe and everyone always has positive things to say about it! The only critique I have about this place is that the prices listed on their menu are inconsistent with what they ring up on the cash register. I would just suggest they update the menu they have hanging up inside. Regardless of this fact, I highly recommend this cafe to everyone! read more

I don't know how Latin restaurants are able to provide such an abundance of ridiculously tasty food for so little...case in point, Coffee Zone, set in the lobby of a Brickell office building that caters to the Venezuelan and Colombian patrons visiting their respective consulates in the same building (and all the other Latin-food-lovers in the area). my lunch today? two huge, well-seasoned, grilled pork chops, a mountain of rice, and some of the most flavorful black beans I can remember having - all for $7.95 and made when you order. the place is always busy from breakfast to late afternoon when they close (4:15 p.m.) and the service is polite, quick and to the point. they have a fairly extensive menu considering the size of the space - including breakfast, pastries, empanadas, sandwiches, salads, fully cooked meals, smoothies, quesadillas, deserts, soups, LOTS of coffee drinks, and even daily specials. I have yet to be disappointed with anything. they don't deliver in the area but are pretty centrally located in Brickell. also, strange but useful fact, if you have to go to the consulate and need a place to leave your cell phone, for $1 they'll hold it for you!! read more

There is no signage in the exterior of the building, you must go in the North Tower and it's located towards the back behind the post office. Not.a.fan. I am convinced that quality service on deliveries in Miami is few and far between. That said, most places are usually not this bad. I ordered very simple items (Gyro and chicken quesadilla) and the quesadilla was something I can make myself at home; flat, barely containing any protein, and cold. The gyro was dry, with a small dollop of curdled sauce, and contained chicken (so basically not what I ordered because there was no lamb in sight). The cherry on top is that it took 2 hours to receive the food. I would recommend walking over there for some sub par takeout food, but if you're lazy and would prefer to order, I would pass on this place. read more

Ordered Chicken Milanesa for Pick-up but when I got there it was not what I expected (no sauce or melted cheese) so I wanted to change my order and was rudely told.....absolutely not, its' already made. Now, I haven't had any trouble with Coffee Zone up to this point, but I was so offended by what went down this morning I had to say something. On Monday mornings, one of my go-to meals is a Triple Peruano from Coffee Zone, maybe with a cortadito if I'm dying for some caffeine. I'm usually pretty satisfied with this so I've never really switched it up. But when I ordered this morning, two things went awry. I ordered off Eat24 like usual, and I decided to try an iced cappuccino. Now, when I clicked on the "add to menu" it refused to add the item to my order. I didn't know this until later, and I dunno if it's a CZ problem or an Eat24 problem but if it's the former why not just remove the item if you're not offering it anymore? But that's a rather minor point, because it's not even like they charged me for the item and never delivered it. No, my issue is that I ordered a Triple Peruano and what arrived most certainly was not a Triple Peruano. The sandwich I ordered is a nice flat compact little thing with avocado, tomato, hard-boiled egg and mayo on whole wheat bread. What got here was an egg salad abomination. Just a ****ing mess of a sandwich. Soggy bread, egg salad (they don't even offer egg salad on the menu WHERE DID THIS COME FROM??), little bits of boiled egg (they had the eggs, why not just go with the eggs?? WHY OH WHY THE EGG SALAD?) and the biggest insult: instead of avocado, they put lettuce. Like I'm stupid and wouldn't notice. Like, it's not even so much that it was an egg salad sandwich. It's just that it was SO BAD. I had to drown the egg salad in salt to choke it down. So, I get it. Maybe I ordered very early and they rushed it. Maybe they missed a supply delivery. But call me. Tell me you're having these issues. Because this crap was a really awful way to start my morning and my week and it's going to be a long time before I order from here, if ever again. read more

I order from this place every so often and am always let down. I literally just ordered a toast with eggs and every single time it takes them nearly 2 HOURS to deliver something so simple that's only a block away. Then when you call the restaurant you're received by the most rudest women ever. Clearly, they're in the wrong business. Today was the straw that broke the camels back. I ordered at 7:57am.... by 10am I was done for. I called in and the lady (with her stank attitude) said that my order was ready but they just don't have anyone to deliver at the moment!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SERIOUSLY ?! I proceeded to ask why they didn't call to advise so that I could make a decision as opposed to letting my food sit on the counter getting cold and stale. She got slick out of the mouth and gave me the run around as to why I couldn't speak with management. smh... this is ridiculous. NEVER AGAIN. Steer clear folks.
