Really like the Coffebar in Palisades. This one? Not so much. Portions were tiny, the added chicken in my bowl tasted old, and the portion was even tinier due to a forgotten ingredient. When I asked for it, I was first told I hadn't added it. Yeah, that's because it's listed as being part of the bowl. They brought it out later, lukewarm. I was visiting town for work and had never stopped by in downtown Truckee before. Our client suggested that I go to Coffeebar after I mentioned that I wanted to study and grab some lunch. The staff are very friendly and nice. There is plenty of seating and power outlets, so it's a great place to study or read a book. For lunch, I ordered the Panini with chicken and artichoke but was a little disappointed because the spread was lacking in flavor. Otherwise, the sandwich was very filling. I also got a lavender latte, a pumpkin donut hole, and a cinnamon roll which were all very delicious! I liked the coffee house so much that I swung by later that evening for a cookie for my trip home. It's a nice little hidden gem given that it's not on the main road, and it seems like a lot of locals hang out here. There's also outdoor seating in the front. read more

If this review was for coffee alone it would be five stars but since I had food here it lowered the score as it was average. I had the avocado toast with a poached egg and it was bland. It needed some pumpkin seeds or something to give it more flavor as the red pepper flakes didn't help enough. My husband had the chorizo burrito which was much better. I wanted to get a cinnamon roll but they looked under baked and had too much icing so I steered away. Plus I knew the other bakery in town makes amazing cinnamon rolls. It is a tough act to follow. The lavender latte was good but they didn't strain all the lavender out. The drip coffee is excellent and doesn't need additives. It has a rich and complex flavor on its own. Overall I would come back but would get a burrito instead and stuck with drip coffee as that was more of where they shined. read more

There was a lot of people but they were keeping everyone socially distanced which made me comfortable but the way they were speaking to my husband & I as well as other customers could have been a lot nicer. Wow where do I even begin. Okay, straight up let me be honest. If you are a person of color, like me, don't eat here. I am giving you my honest opinion based on my experience. I am sure there are better places to eat than this place. The food was below average and the service was even worse. We were the only customers of color in there and boy did they make us feel like it. Walked in here on a recommendation of a friend. The waitress looked annoyed at us as soon as we walked in, i kid you not. Her demeanor changed when she was talking my order and my friend's order. I ordered a hot chocolate and a garden crepe. When she asked for my name for the drink, I had to repeat it several times and she still got it wrong. I completely understand that my name is difficult to understand sometimes because I have this problem most places I go, but she looked so upset and frustrated with my name that she just put whatever by the end even though I repeated it for her as calmly and slowly as I could. So my name is now "Pyal". cool. She then took my friend's order who asked if the burritos on the display were made in the cafe or were they from an outside vendor. Yeah, that made her look more annoyed. So my friend did end up ordering the burrito when she found out it was made in the cafe that morning and ordered a "traditional" espresso macchiato. She didn't understand what the difference between traditional and starbucks version was and the cashier didn't explain at all what the difference was. My friend's name is Elizabeth and as the cashier/wasitress was jotting her name down for her drink order, I jokingly said "I should have just put my drink under your name, Elizabeth haha" and the waitress/cashier looked at us with a straight and annoyed face and bluntly said "yeah". I was sooooo offended, like excuse me??? I am a paying customer and just because I don't have a common name doesn't mean you cannot respect that. Anyway, we sat outside since there were no seats inside. I went and got my drink even though they never called it. I asked them if it was my drink and they asked, "did you ordered a hot chocolate? Then yeah" like I was stupid. I'm not even trying to exaggerate people. I am being dead serious, this is how I was being talked to. Well, whatever, my drink was cold anyway by the time I drank it so disappointing. Anyway, our food came out later and waiter was super nice and attentive. Idk if that has anything to do with him being a POC too but it was super refreshing since it was different than the service we had received thus far. My crepe had very little filling and I don't think it was cooked very much. The flavor was bland and I had to pour, POUR Cholula over it to make it decent. And my friend hated her espresso macchiato which was so bitter and was not palatable. She totally felt the same as I about this place and she would never come back due to the service. Her burrito was only so-so. Will I come here again?? Hell no! Which I am sure they'd be happy about anyway because they honestly cannot cater to anyone outside of their ethnic background in any polite fashion. God they wouldn't do well in the bay area with that kind of attitude. I am appalled. Appalled. Swing by the store and see if there is any available parking spot before looking for street parking (street parking are metered). Cozy coffee shop with a large selection of coffee, wine, baked goods and crepes. You get a free extra shot if you check in on Yelp, and they have Happy Hour from 4-6pm. I was delighted at the fact that I got my Lavender Latte for $2. It was delicious. Great coffee place with a funky vibe. We got an iced americano, which was the most flavorful either of us have ever tasted. Also got a Mexican mocha, which had just the right mix of chocolate and spice - delicious. When I asked about the lavender latte, the barista talked about how delicious it was so I had to order one to go. I would have to agree with her assessment, it was creamy lavender deliciousness. It's made with a lavender tea so there isn't any caffeine. Our 3 year old daughter got a strawberry lemon sorbet and loved it. This will be a new stop when visiting North Shore. read more

This place serves up a solid latte and a perfectly pulled espresso no matter what time of the day you come. This is probably one of my favorite finds in Truckee because it's off the main street and it's definitely in a very unassuming little (and by little I mean ... TINY) plaza) with another shop next door. The indoor area is not large, but there is a nice outdoor area for you to be able to relax in the sun. They also serve food, but I have not had any of their food. The coffee is simply divine. The flavors of the latte are extremely light but nutty, creamy but not overly rich. The espressos are not sour but well pulled and full flavored instead of watery finishes. The person who gave us orders on how to line up (making two locals advancing in front to of us) or how to stay far from the bar while waiting for our order, must have been the owner otherwise I would strongly recommend the owner to put her far from clients. Love this spot! I'd say I'd is the best coffee spot in Truckee. It has a super cool vibe with nice decor, indoor/outdoor seating, art, and good music. They have gluten free options, which is always a bonus. Their bowls, pastries, burritos, and coffee are solid. I usually get one of the burritos (veggie or sausage), fiesta bowl and lavender latte.
