Was excited to come and try but unfortunately every single employee was rude and unkind. There is currently a fire in California and there is smoke in the air, and everytime a customer opens the door for longer than 3 seconds to let their family inside the woman at the register with brown hair & glasses starts rudely yelling at them to shut the door. All of the customers in line were eyeing each other with how outright bizarre she was acting. I completely understand protecting the air quality of the inside for the safety of everyone and asking customers to close the door after them - but it can very easily be said in a kind and generous way. There's no justification for being unkind and flat out rude when everyone is dealing with this. After that initial encounter that we saw happen about 5 times in our short stay, every other employee has been also unkind and seems annoyed to have customers. Very unfortunate for the person who owns this business and we will not be returning. read more

Seems like most like the coffee here. However,to me it doesn't taste properly roasted. Almost like Starbucks drip coffee. Requires a lot of cream and sugar to be palatable. Maybe the espresso is better but don't go with the drip. Diner-esqe at best. read more

Amazing coffee and great service. Their breakfasts all have a healthy kick, and of the two we tried, they were delicious. We had the Avocado Toast with a Poached Egg and the Breakfast Croissant. The patio with our dog was perfect and we enjoyed talking to other people with dogs while enjoying our morning. Unfortunately they only have whole milk (locally sourced) and specialty milks. Probably my favorite coffee shop in Truckee and Northern Nevada. The coffee is great, regardless of what you order. The food is amazing! And the experience is just overall good. They waitstaff is really accommodating and nice. At their Truckee location, I always bring my dog and they always say Hello to her and give her treats. The vibe is very funky and positive. Great place to write or work remotely or just do some adulting. I almost always get the gluten free pumpkin doughnut holes and a coconut chai with coconut milk. It's simply divine. read more

Fantastic coffee and definitely the best shop in town. The lattes are made with care -- the hot ones have gorgeous foam designs and the iced ones are layered when a lovely frosting of crema on the top. The coffee itself is very good, smooth and toasty without tasting burnt. Their food is delicious as well. The strudel is divine and the sandwiches are wonderful. I usually get the Parma (mozzarella, basil, tomato and prosciutto) and they grill it to perfection on a local bakery's ciabatta roll. I think sandwiches run around $6-7, which is really good for Truckee. The only downside is parking -- they have a free lot in front of the business, but have to share it with the salon next door and on more than one occasion, I've seen a stylist park in the lot and leave her car there for the day while she works The lot's very small (probably 12ish spots) and in the winter, the free dirt lot down the street's closed. It's not really a problem if I'm just heading in for a few minutes to grab a coffee, but if I want to stay there for a few hours to get some work done, it can be a pain. I know the paid parking issue downtown is beyond either business' control, but it'd be nice if the employees could refrain from parking in there. read more

I have, unfortunately, been disappointed on more then one occasion and its usually the same female Batista each of those times. I'm not a tremendous fan of Starbucks so I try to branch out a little bit, this is my favorite place in Truckee to grab a great Cup of honest coffee, They have some food, baked goods and some specialty beers and wines available but so far I've stuck just to the coffee. Service is fast and friendly, reasonably sized seating area inside, and plenty more outside when the weather is nice. Very clean every time I have been in. I highly recommend the double short cappuccino, ask for the smaller cup, this way it is strong enough that the milk does not dilute the flavor of the coffee. Another place that has been a regular for us EVERY time we've come to Tahoe. We'd stop in the morning and also in the afternoon on our way to the cabin. This last weekend, a bit of disappointment. No honey, just honey-water. WTF?!? Honey-water???? Who serves honey water? That was a first. The croissant we got for our son, not fresh, not even close, and dense 1/2" thick dough of some sorts, not the flaky stuff. Cups like in Denny's, thick mug type, had to beg for a bowl kind of a cup. What are we in Kansas?, not that there is anything wrong with Kansas... coffee is more than just the brown stuff, it's also what it is served in. I got a ham sandwich on the thinnest focaccia bread I've had in a looong time,barely over 1/4" thick, with a spoonfull of red cabbage on the side, nothing else, it was a sore sight. It looked like a gourmand designed the sandwich, some time ago, and now a janitor is putting it together, the original California chic design downgraded to a sloppy delivery with no soul, the once delightful presentation was not there. You guys used to do crepes and good stuff, now it's just mediocre, I am so sorry it's gotten to this. How long can you charge those prices for non-descript bland food? I hope this was just a bad Friday. read more

There is a big sign above the menu that says 'ALL ITEMS CRAFTED FROM SCRATCH DAILY'... so I order a Grilled Cheese without onions. With a straight face the girl behind the counter tells me that the sandwiches are all pre-made, but I can order a bowl. I point out that it is cheese and bread, as well as the sign... and she continues to stare at me like I've posed the riddle of the Sphinx to her. Then tells me that they can't/won't make the sandwich made to order. Amazing customer service, but made even more absurd by the extremely large sign above the menu stating the exact opposite. read more

Their coffee is pretty good and they always put a pretty little leaf or heart on the frothed milk coffees. However, the big bummer about this establishment is the culture, the 'tude, the vibe (call it what you want) that flows from nearly everyone there, staff and patrons alike. Unfortunately, the vibe is more pronounced every time I visit. It's a massive turn-off. I didn't feel it was a place all were welcome. I, personally, prefer a healthy mix of a nice atmosphere, friendly staff that invites friendly patrons, and good coffee. I have come to Coffee Bar (Downtown) multiple times and it always fails to meet my expectations. The upscale and environment and swanky tourist customers are deceiving. At my most recent attempt enjoying Coffee Bar, I got a vegan banana chocolate chip muffin which I asked to be warmed up. Can't be too hard, right? I was sitting at a table for 10 minutes and had yet to receive my warm muffin (which, by the way, is more expensive than a similar vegan muffin at Zuri), so I asked the barista (short brunette with space buns and silver-blond highlights) where my muffin was. She walked to the microwave, opened the door, and pulled out my muffin that was just as room temperature as 10 minutes ago because some genius forgot to turn the microwave on. She didn't notice nor care that it wasn't warm and gave it to me. I was in a time crunch (because I was waiting for 10 minutes my muffin to warm up) and didn't have time to ask her to actually warm it up, so I asked for her to bag it. Instead of putting it in a bag or even handing me a bag, she throws it at my chest and trots away to talk to another customer. Real winner. The muffin was good though (thanks to the bakery facility)! Additionally, last summer I got an iced coffee that was pretty much all ice and water. The only thing keeping me from giving a one star is a wonderful conversation I had with an employee quite a while ago and the fact that they no longer use wooden stirrers but instead pasta sticks. With that said, I will not be returning to Coffee Bar and supporting Zuri instead! read more

We spent the weekend in Truckee for my friends birthday. The first morning we woke up and took and walk. We stumbled across the Coffeebar and were so happy we did. They have the nicest baristas and best coffee. Not to mention a cool coffeehouse vibe. If we lived in Truckee I would definitely be a regular. In fact, I ended up going in for another coffee on our way out of town. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking to support a local coffee shop. read more

I normally order an iced chai tea with soy. I decided to try it here, but did not like the flavor as much as I enjoy the chai tea from Starbucks (& I am not much of a Starbucks lover). I took probably about 4 small sips of my iced chai and wasted the rest. If you have ever had chai from Peet's Coffee I can say it has similar flavor, but a bit waterier. The atmosphere of the place was awesome though! & I love the lion logo. P.S. : Get there early if you want a cinnamon roll. I wanted one for my road trip back home, but they were all out. I'm obsessed with this place! First off, their pastries are not only amazing, but there are gluten free and vegan options. I highly recommend the gf brownie or gf chocolate chip banana muffin. Their lattes are great hot or iced, and their espresso beans are my favorite to buy for lattes at home. The employees are friendly and helpful. Their prices are good. This morning I had a slow start. The bars in Truckee had just opened after quarantine last night and I was a bit hung over. Waking up I began to wander around Truckee looking for a good spot to sober up. I entered coffee bar right as they opened and little did I know I was in for the best customer experience I've had in my coffee going career. I met Hannah She was busy crushing her morning routine when I ordered a small coffee and a croissant. If she hasnt gotten a raise yet then maybe you guys should look into it. Her knowledge of coffee, customer, service and all around good hearted nature made me feel right at home. She balance her morning objectives perfectly all the while delivery great service. She is definitely a comodity to this small coffee shop and made a returning customer out of me instantly. If you want a good start to your morning in truckee coffee bar is a must. This is a nice homey cafe. Good coffee and pastries. I stumbled into this place looking for some munchies and a restroom, but decided not to eat there because they were in the process of closing. I'm pretty sure they would have served us since they seemed so welcoming and polite, but I didn't feel right keeping them from their families at the end of the day. Great coffee bar off the beaten path. I went to sweet cherries the day before and did not like the experience or coffee as much as coffeebar. Coffeebar had good looking baked goods as well as Italian style coffee. Definitely a spot locals go to. If I make it back to truck I will definitely go back there for my morning coffee. read more

This place is just too hipster for me. The food and pastries are O.K., nothing spectacular. Their good ol' fashion plain ol' coffee is just awful and overpriced, really. Coffee grounds everytime! My last experience here, I came to study for an exam on a weekday in August, it was really crowded with Tahoe hippies. The only available table was outside (it was really cold) next to some chick wearing thick rimmed glasses talking in a super annoying pretentious tone about mating patterns of yeast. I am not even kidding. I had to chug my coffee and gtfo before my head exploded. their other stuff must be ok because some of my friends love this place.
