I have attempted to LIKE this place numerous times... But it just is one fail after the next. Whats funny, is our Friend who goes here pretty much daily, thought I was way off when I said this place blows. Then we went together and he was pretty much in shock that I was 100% right and got complete crap service and food..... Funny how they can see this yet still support the place because their buddies work there. What a great System this is. When it was my turn to order, the person taking my order was too busy to hear what I ordered as they were making gestures and trying to talk AROUND me as if I was a window or blocking them to see their friends who were in line behind me, waiting to order. I ordered a simple hot Chai. Which is Chai Mix and Milk warmed up. It took over 25 minutes for me to recieve this. There were 2 orders in front of mine and many behind mine. Every single one of the 'buddies' BEHIND me got their fancy coffee mocha lattes in no time. I was still standing there waiting. Finally after probably noticing how pissed off I looked they asked if they could help me. I said yup still waiting for my chai. To which the guy smirked and turned around and made it then handed it over. Thanks guy for doing your job. Each time I reach the counter with a big smile and say Hi. I get greeted rudely with a stare.... as if im supposed to ask can you take my order? Each time I have ordered a crepe.... it either never came out, or came out completely wrong. Do the listen to you when you order? I dont think so! Ordered a Lemon Crepe and got some crepe filled with lots of tomatoes, a few sprinkles of Mozzerella and a piece of basil. would have maybe been good if it wasnt only tomoatoes, and been better if it was what i had actually ordered. Food portions are VERY SMALL. BITE SIZE. I have even had my husband order for me, thinking maybe they dont like "me"? a cute nice girl who wasnt dirty and gross? Maybe I just dont fit in there. They do seem to close whenever they feel like it. And it seems like they do not make anything after 7am, so if you get there right when they open you might have a chance to try what they offer. read more

Best coffee.... The coffee and food is just really special here. I love my soy latte with honey, and any sandwich or panini. The staff is friendly and you never wait long to get your coffee. The atmosphere here is modern and relaxing, with a really beautiful outside seating area in the front. I recommend this place to anyone in need of coffee in the truckee area. read more

Came here yesterday for the first time to meet a business associate. A friend said 'it's really quiet.' Boy was he wrong! When I arrived, there were no seats and the volume level was high. VERY HIGH. My business associate arrived shortly after I did, and thankfully the sofa next to the front door opened up. (Two mothers with the cutest kids were finishing up--they apologized for the mess, but I told them I was wearing old pants so it didn't matter.) We decided to split a Neapolitan Panini (to die for!), she got a latte, while I had a mocha (also to die for!), and we were able to sit uninterrupted for an hour. The store has free wifi, wonderful food, fabulous service and a new convert. A nice touch is that the parking lot allows patrons to park for free--a nice perk in Truckee, where parking is at a premium. Thanks! read more

Great espresso and baked goods. Several excellent sandwich choices. Whole bean coffee is a little pricey ($16/lb) but pours smooth every time. Grab a bag. Parking can be tricky (might have to pay) and word on the street is they no longer have crepes (which were awesome). If you want to avoid the downtown madness, they now have a little spot on the west side in the Pacos/Sears stripmall next to the bank. read more

Stopped in here while staying in Truckee/Tahoe Donner and returned day after day for their handcrafted espresso drinks. The latte is PERFECT. Beautiful foam, bold flavor, perfect temperature. The house chai latte is excellent. Sweet and spicy. Consistent flavor. Friendly staff. Oh, and if you are there when the cinnamon rolls are still warm from the oven...get one! Best coffee shop in Truckee! Always great food and drinks. My favorite is the Lemon Chiffon Latte with almond milk. It's nice that they don't discriminate against non-milk drinkers. No extra charge for almond milk or soy milk. Fun atmosphere and the baristas are always very friendly! read more

Hipsters unite! I think the place is usually okay, but the funky yoga pants (or tights or whatever they were) with platforms at 8 am hits the nail on the head here. They have a new location in the Truckee outlets and it is partnered with a GREAT bakery. Try the Vegan cranberry/apple muffin. SO GOOD.

Beware---Not Gluten free from cross contamination. Fridge case keeps "GF" items right under sandwiches and cookies. I asked how they keep them from getting cross contaminated and the answer was they don't. Not only can crumbs from above fall on them, by they're made near all other baked goods. He says, if you have an allergy, "don't eat it" My husband enjoyed the pumpkin donut holes--he can eat anything. I asked them to heat them up since they were refrigerated. Coffee---we both ordered mochas. Good. Foamy--I wasn't specific about anything ;Visibly appealing too. Went back before closing to try the lavender latte...luv it the most!!! I'd go back just for this delicious concoction! Plus, they're nice people If they stored some baked items in a closed plastic container and just left a few pieces on display, then I could've eaten the gluten free items. With some food service gloves on the side, place a baked good in paper bag, heat in the oven and good to go. We love this place. Especially on a warm sunny day. We love to sit outside and chill with friends in their courtyard. The latte's are beautifully done and delicious. The raspberry ricotta scones are to die for. The mate latte's are sweet and wonderful. The quiche is great too. The only bad thing is they are so busy sometimes they run out of the best stuff before we late risers get down to town...so get up early and go to Coffee Bar! read more

Insanely good coffee. Can't even describe it...you just have to taste it. Decor is very unique. And the crowd is about as eclectic as it gets, from Bay Area visitors to truckee locals. The coffee was pretty good (4 stars)...so if that is all you are getting, then I recommend this place. The crepes, however, were a huge disappointment (2 stars). I ordered a nutella and banana crepe and a savory crepe with potatoes, ham and cheese with pesto sauce. The crepes were $13.50. 15 minutes later, the food is brought out to us and the person delivering the crepes mentions that they don't have any bananas, so they just made us a nutella crepe, and that they are out of potatoes, so it's just cheese and ham with saracha sauce...not the pesto sauce we paid extra for. At this point I should have just asked for our money back, because I would not have placed an order for crepes that were missing the key ingredients. I couldn't believe that they found that acceptable! I would have at least expected them to let us know they were out of the ingredients and let us re-order (or cancel our order) or maybe thrown in some additional sides for free so we were getting a complete meal. Would definitely not return here for food (or coffee based on this experience). read more

I wish I could go 3.5 stars. I generally like this place. When I first came to town, it was THE best thing EVER. But the problems are... TOO busy. Often cannot find a seat. They have a small parking lot (good!), but it is often full, so you have to pay stupid city parking meter just to walk in and find out you can't stay. Annoying. Second, their WiFi has been down about 20% of the time I have come in. Not OK, as I work on the computer and that's the purpose of my visits, more often than not. Now, the staff is great. The food is great! The coffee is OK. It's a great place to get together. They have a nice outdoor area. But they NEED to get a few bolts tightened up before they earn 4 or 5 stars. Good for Truckee, but really not "on the ball" enough for a top review. New local coffee shop Iron Horse is a MUCH better all around coffee shop. MUCH better coffee. Excellent attitudes and vibe. Truckee, you have a serious java jones -- there are a confusing number of coffee shops in this town. After having given all of them a spin, Coffeebar is the only one I go back to and drop coin at. The quality of your espresso drink or pour-over depends on the baristo/a working that day, but happy-hour specials and discounts for bringing your own mug are bonuses. Plus they've got this insanely good streudel made by a local baker that is like sugar pastry heroin. Hang out on the patio outdoors and enjoy the free Wi-Fi. read more

Since opening the coffee bar bakery this place has moved way up....the downtown location still fine but the smaller location off of Donner Pass Road is fantastic. Coffee two thumbs up and bakery items are wonderful. (And clothing elements and accessories are fun). The upgrades to downtown location have been nice as well .... On the drive back to SF from Reno, we stopped in Truckee due to the snowfall. I was overly excited and asked that we immediately pull over so I can play in the snow. I played like a little kid in the snow for about a half hour and discovered this spot as it was a few minutes walking distance. I've never had a "fancy" latte with foam art so what better way to try it in an unknown area. I read the reviews upon walking inside and was drawn in by their art, but once I walked in there and got to the register it took a turn for the worst. The cashier was NOT helpful after I requested unique art to admire inside my mug while I sip my drink. Instead she whispered to the barista and laughed.. what a nice way to greet a first time customer. I'm sure people go in there all the time and ask, so why do they decide to pick on me, I wondered. Anyway, I quickly took notice of it, paid, and a few minutes later our drinks came out with the ugliest, lousiest art ever (as if she did it on purpose) It wasn't until I walked out that I noticed a lady whom had also ordered a latte in a to-go cup with decent foam art in her cup from the SAME barista. Now, I'm not one to complain about a measly drawing in a cup.. but when your ONLY talent is to make latte art and you do it all day, I expect it to be mediocre at best. WILL NEVER RETURN. read more

This is a good alternative to the regularly lackluster, but somehow always busy Wild Cherries. The coffee was pretty decent, not the best, but good for Truckee. The webiste gives the impression that they make everything on french press, so that's cool, and in my opinion gives an automatic edge over the other options in town. I'll admit to sucking down my cup without too much thought ( I know, for shame), but after clipping bolts at Big Chief all day I wasn't in the mood to apply critical thinking skills. I will say that the roast was mellow, the body and finish nice and smooth, and while I probably would have put down anything at that point, ti was nice to sit outside and enjoy a decent cup. The location, sort of back in the cut on Jiboom, is way better than sitting on the main drag at WIld CHerries as well, but also helped facilitate me not finding out about this place until just recently, dispite having spent a pretty significant amount of time in Truckee over the last 3-4 years.
