hostess, to the wait staff, runners and manager were all smiling and hospitable. They were slammed, but still took the time to ensure our evening was special, and that is great. The food was spot on and worth it every time. Might be time to update the cocktail selection as it isn't on the same level as the rest, but the wine pairings were well matched. Highly recommend visiting

Had the most romantic dinner here with my sweet baby! Our server was great, and able to manage the table that were both inside and outside however i do think him working im two very different sections added to the very high wait times. This place is truly authentic french cuisine and the drinks were absolutely superb. The food is undeniable decedent and cooked to perfection. Just look at those lamb chops! The creme brulee was good but I have had better. .

Very cute little cafe with friendly staff and good food but the ambiance is a little loud. We had to yell to hear each other. The menu is broad so there's something for everyone but mainly French inspired cuisine. The prices are very affordable and the size of the entrees are decent. I opted for the clams with garlic white wine butter sauce. The sauce was delicious but the clams were sandy and may have needed to be cooked longer and 3 of them didn't open. The escargot was nicely seasoned with garlic and parsley but the size were a little smaller than I'm used to seeing. My friends who ordered scallops said they were a bit salty and overcooked. The chicken breast with potato puree was delicious. They were accommodating with our party of 9.

Update: November 2025 Brought friends for their first visit here. Again, quickly seated on a very busy Friday night. Once drinks and appetizers arrived, things went downhill pretty quickly. 3 of our entrees came out, though a bit delayed. When we inquired about the fourth entree; Grouper, our server went to check on it. Meanwhile, our friend told the server just to forget about, as we were nearly finished. They attempted to serve us Mussels, were never ordered, then went ahead and brought out the grouper after our friend had told them to forget it. They insisted on boxing it up to go. Not sure what was happening in the kitchen that night, but things sure seemed off. For example, having to ask for ketchup 4 times for the french fries. Our server, apologized and tried to make things right. We'll probably try them again and hope for a better experience, Our friends ; probably not.

Cognac was delightful! The location is great, being situated right across from the Sundial Shops, it benefits from the downtown St. Pete vibe. I went with a smaller group of friends, we were all craving steak frites and we were not disappointed in the slightest. The steak was juicy, tender and cooked to medium-rare perfection. The fries were crispy and puffy on the outside, but smooth and airy on the inside. 10/10 recommend getting a side of garlic aioli to dip your steak and fries in- it was zesty, garlicky and tangy. For dessert, we shared crème brûlée, which had a glassy, sweet shell with a sweet, smooth vanilla custard filling. All in all, the service was great and we really enjoyed the Parisian ambiance. Cognac is the perfect spot for a date night, intimate group outing or if you're looking to treat yourself!

Had such a great experience at Cognac! The food was amazing and the service was excellent. We came to celebrate my friend's birthday and everything from start to finish was perfect. Definitely recommend!

We walked by Cognac this weekend and decided to pop in for a few appetizers. The food was really good--everything we ordered was flavorful, and the fresh bread they brought out with the Escargot was warm and delicious. The space itself is nice, but it was really loud inside. Between the bar crowd, the music, and the staff moving around, it was hard to hear each other. I was hoping for a bit more of a relaxed, cozy vibe for dining. Still, the food made up for it. Both the Escargot and the Foie Gras were so flavorful! I'd definitely go back for the brunch and happy hour!

I'm a huge fan of Bacchus, so was very excited to try this new sister restaurant. We went on a Sunday and has reservations inside--unlike other reviews, it was quite quiet indoors on a less-crowded Sunday night. Most guests chose to sit outside, so we could even hear the charming French music they played indoors, which definitely added to the Parisian vibe. Service was wonderful, with some experienced staff from Bacchus transferring here, so it was smooth from start to finish. The evening was paced very well in terms of the flow of ordering and receiving food. They unfortunately had a few dishes unavailable on the menu after such a busy weekend, which was a bit disappointing but shows the popularity of the restaurant (and I have faith that as they mature, they'll be able to better plan food inventory accordingly). The waiter less us know of the unavailable menu items as soon as we were seated and offered great alternatives, so it wasn't an issue. The cocktails were excellent! The entrees were stronger than the appetizers, but everything was delicious. We started with the brochette trio (one shrimp, one sardine, and two scallops--worth clarifying that here if you're hoping to split with a group) and the shrimp cocktail with a delicious zesty cocktail sauce. They were out of the escargot, which we hope to try neck time. I got the salmon in a light lemon cream sauce with stewed tomatoes. The salmon was cooked perfectly and the tomatoes were a lovely flavor and texture accompaniment. Others got the steak frites (amazing fries!) and the trout almandine (which also looked good, but with a heavier sauce and side). While Bacchus is still my favorite, I'm so glad to have Cognac as a new member of the neighborhood and can't wait to see it further develop. We'll be back!

Cognac is a relatively brand new restaurant in the heart of DTSP. It's a *sister restaurant* of Bacchus which is one of my absolute favorites in the area. The food and ambiance is fully French inspired and they do take reservations. I came here on a weekday night and it was still quite busy. My friend and I were seated at a little bistro style table, just like what you'd get in Paris and our waitress was super nice. We were there for an early bday dinner for me and when the staff overheard, they gave us complimentary champagne and were just so pleasant all around. The food was outstanding--we got the bone marrow to start with and my friend ordered the steak and I got a fish dish. The wine (for the life of me I can't remember which white wine I got) paired with it so nicely too. I honestly can't wait to come here again soon! It's a great date night spot or for small groups too.

Enjoyed a table outside in the shade but with great people watching. The leek pastry is a go-to with some bubbly.

This was an amazing experience! I lived in Paris for 3 years and really liked the sidewalk dining. This place brought those memories and experiences back. Loved sitting outside. So this is the 3rd restaurant that we know of in this spot. I am sure there have been more, and each has been unique and good in their own way. When this one opened, we had to go. We made reservations just to make sure we got in since new places in the burg tend to be very busy. Checked in and waited a bit for a table outside on the sidewalk. So glad we did! We were here for happy hour so we dove right in. Starting with drinks I had a smoked old fashioned. Simple and delicious. a really nice drink list with very good bartenders. For food we tried so many good things from the happy hour menu as well as mains. The Salade mesclun au chevre chaud. Warm goat cheese salad. So good! Warm goat cheese has such an amazing flavor. The little sausages with a very tasty dip were really good. Also had a shrimp cocktail. Fresh and delicious. We still had room for a main, We grabbed the ribeye with potato gratin and bearnaise sauce. Really good. Cooked perfectly. A little chewy in spots but still very good. After all that we still had to have a dessert. Very good end to the dinning experience. Our server was awesome. Enthusiastic and very helpful. Really added to an amazing experience over all. We have already made reservations to return and enjoy this awesome happy hour and great food.

A Night to Savor at Cognac DTSP! Had the best time wining and dining with my foodie crew last night at Cognac, a charming little French spot in downtown St. Pete. The star of the show? The duck foie gras--silky, rich, and beautifully balanced with sweet fruit and tang. I also tried escargot for the first time (virgin snail status unlocked!)--they were herby, and fresh. Drinks? On point. Ambiance? Très chic. The other dishes were decent but didn't quite blow me away. For the price point: * Food: 2.5-3/5 * Location: 4/5 (great if you're heading out after for a little bar or club hop) * Service: 4/5 (the staff crushed it) All in all, it was the company that made the night extra special. Always grateful for good vibes and even better bites! Notes to owner/management. Add more flavor to your dishes and more authentic French dishes. It's understandable you're catering to the palette of the masses, however, the food could be a few notches better and more flavorful, for the price point.

This place is super yummy. The eggs with hollandaise, snow crab, and buttery brioche were really tasty and full of flavor. I'd definitely come back.

Truly Unforgettable Culinary Journey at Red Thread…read more Our dinner at Red Thread was nothing short of spectacular -- a five-star experience from the moment we stepped through the door until the final sip of our after-dinner drink. We visited to celebrate a milestone birthday, and the team not only met but exceeded every expectation, weaving subtle, thoughtful surprises into the evening that made us feel truly special. The atmosphere is opulent yet completely approachable -- warm, intimate, and alive with cultural richness. You can feel the intention behind every detail: the plush banquettes adorned with intricately embroidered throw pillows, the soft glow of lantern-style lighting, and the perfectly placed gold-tipped cocktail picks that make even the smallest moment feel curated. It's elegant without pretense, like being welcomed into a beautifully kept secret along the Silk Road. Service was led by Katie and Elijah, who were nothing short of exceptional. Their warmth, precision, and deep knowledge of both the menu and the restaurant's rich aesthetic elevated the entire evening. They guided us with confidence, shared stories behind the dishes, and ensured every need was met before we even voiced it. Now, the food -- where do we begin? Red Thread delivers flavors that are bold, layered, and deeply authentic. We started with the spread and small bites platter, and it was immediately clear we were in for something extraordinary. The tabbouleh was bright and herb-forward, with finely chopped parsley, tomato, and bulgur kissed by lemon -- a perfect balance of freshness and zing. The falafel were golden-crisp on the outside, tender within, and served with a bright mint yogurt. So delish! For our mains: the salmon, seasoned with fragrant za'atar and resting atop creamy spanakorizo (spinach and rice), was cooked to buttery perfection. The addition of crumbled feta and a cooling lemon yogurt sauce brought a bright, tangy contrast that elevated every bite. The pork chop, served with tri-color potatoes and glazed in a rich port beurre rouge with rosemary and a whisper of parmesan, was magnificent -- juicy, deeply savory, and beautifully seared. And the beef short rib? Unbelievably tender, with a warm curry base, sweet-spicy melon kimchi, and saffron rice that perfumed the air. The cardamom chèvre melted into the mix, adding a creamy, floral depth that was nothing short of inspired. Every dish told a story -- of distant lands, ancient trade routes, and a chef who clearly treats spice like sacred heirloom. To know these flavors are crafted with spices imported directly from the regions that inspired them explains the unmatched authenticity in every bite. Red Thread stands alone in St. Petersburg -- not just in flavor, but in feeling. We'll be back -- no question -- to explore their brunch and dive deeper into this beautiful narrative they've created on a plate. To everyone reading: This is the kind of restaurant that deserves to be discovered, celebrated, and filled to capacity every single night. Go. Taste. Feel. Red Thread isn't just dinner -- it's a journey. And it's not to be missed.

We finally checked out Red Thread and it was delicious!…read more Great ambiance (both indoors and their outdoor courtyard, can't go wrong with either option) that fits the "silk road" vibe, with awesome food and friendly service. We started with the dip trio (beet hummus, olive tapenade, and babaganoush with fluffy pita triangles), which was fantastic. Each dip had an awesome flavor, especially the beet hummus. We also got the tahini, date, and cashew salad and loved it. My husband isn't a salad guy and said he'd only have a bite, but then he ate half. The rich and spicy tahini mixed with the sweet date, creamy cashew, and fresh/crisp salad was such a great flavor combo. I will note, they go heavy with the tahini on the salad, but we weren't complaining. I got the zataar salmon for my main. A deliciously spiced zataar crust on top of a delicately flaky salmon made for a wonderful meal. My husband got the kafta en croute, which were ground lamb/beef meatballs surrounded by a flaky pastry and topped with pomegranate over a tahini sauce. I kept stealing bites (which was fine, there was plenty to share) it was so good and such a unique entrée! For drinks, they have uniquely spiced cocktails and mocktails. The drinks took longer to arrive than the food, but they were worth the wait. We were too stuffed for dessert, but next time we want to try their tiramisu (made with Turkish coffee and cardamom). We had a wonderful meal and will be back! The sad thing was that half the restaurant was empty. We think it's a unique addition to DTSP and is definitely worth checking out.

This was my first trip to Allelo, a Mediterranean-Aegean restaurant…read more I was in town for business and arrived solo. I was greeted by Carolina, a very confident and friendly hostess. I told her I wanted to sit outside so I could have dinner and read a book with a glass of wine. She told me it would be about 20 minutes and suggested I go to the bar. Once inside, I was greeted by Corey, who entertained me with a vibrant wine list and a quick tasting before selecting a crisp Sauvignon Blanc. As my wine was being poured in a delightfully elegant wine glass... Carolina told me my table was ready. They put me in the perfect spot for people watching. My server was Rachel, who shared the night's special offerings with great aplomb. I am not usually a Wagyu person, but I thought why not, yolo. I paired it with the cauliflower. But to kick things off,..I did the focaccia. The meal was so superb. I immediately texted a friend of mine and said we had to come back the following evening. Again with the Wagyu and the focaccia. Sue me, I'm a glutton for delight. My friend had the seafood linguine.... Which in keeping with the theme was exemplary. Our server for night two was Kyle... Who anticipated I ever need. We had a variety of martinis and ended the evening with a fancy coffee that included a rock sugar spoon. This is my new go to when I visit St. Petersburg. And did I mention Rachel gave me an awesome book recommendation? Thanks girl! If you're looking for somewhere really cool to go for curated cocktails, and exceptional food...This is the place.

One main course was 1/2 rack of lamb cooked perfectly and nice portion, Za'atar cauliflower nice portion didn't taste like Za'atar. Pasta dish had to add black pepper was ok.
