Great place to host a birthday event! Large space and the staff were super friendly. Some of the food items we ordered never came, but vibes were good. Kid friendly too. Lots of games to play. Great location to hop around to other bars

    It's a staple for SDCC.

Date of visit: July 27, 2024 A few months back, my fiancee won a raffle at a fundraiser where one of the prizes was a $50 voucher to Swing Social. Since Comic-Con was in full swing, we realized we could use it to get dinner that weekend! Swing Social is a sports bar in the Gaslamp District where in addition to watching various sporting events on the various TVs, you could also rent time on a couple of the golf simulators in the area. As we were there for a spot of dinner, we opted for the following: - Bacon Mac 'N Cheese ($15): Kat's a big fan of mac and cheese, and she was certainly pleased with how creamy the order was here. The bacon added a little extra flavor as well. - Wedge Salad ($15): We split the salad, and as just as well; this was a sizeable salad with blue cheese, bacon, tomatoes, chives, and herb vinagrette dressing that with the cold iceberg lettuce wedge hit the spot. - Southern Chicken & Waffles ($24): While the cornbread waffles were surprisingly good - rather than drizzling the syrup over them, I dunked the pieces instead - the chicken was a bit disappointing. We liked the crisp coating on the chicken... but while the breast was cooked, it didn't seem like the wing fully was, which kinda spoiled my appetite. Another thing I should mention is that while the service was friendly enough, they also took a long time to check on us (possibly due to how busy it was because of SDCC as well as the usual Saturday night crowd)... meaning that our visit was about two hours long when we could've be out within an hour or so. Nice enough sports bar and concept, but we'll only come back again if we have another gift certificate.

We came here after walking around comic con with a group of friends. You sit yourself where there's place available and order from a QR code. The menu has a vast quantity of alcohol beverage. They had non alcoholic Fanta slushee that was delicious. The burgers my friends got were plain. The rest of the food was good. I only had the French fries becuase I am vegetarian and that was the only thing I could have except for dessert. The fries were crunchy and good without any sauce. The service was okay, but it is a bar so it's expected. I tried to get a knife for a salad and walked to the bar to ask for one. No one pay attention to me and my friend had to just eat the salad by the leaf. The reason that it was 4 stars was that my group participated in the trivia which was fun at first but then the group trivia took forever. We played for a little over an hour and we only finished 3 rounds and there was two more rounds and we had to get going.

We went on a Monday night, and there was only one server, but we had a blast! The server was super attentive and nice and gave us a few deals as well. I came because of a Groupon, but we ended up spending extra hours playing all of the games and having a blast for my brother's birthday. There were nine of us and we were cracking up and just having a great time. I highly recommend for a big group, especially for those who like sports. Overall just a fun place to mess around and bond. The music was on point and the ambience of the whole place was laid-back and fun. Some of the food was great and the rest was just OK. Unfortunately, they were out of mozzarella sticks, but the wings were crispy and good, and our friend enjoyed the burger. The seating was comfortable, and it was great to be able to switch through the games whenever we wanted to. There was something for everyone.

Wanna spend $500 and not have a good time? THIS is the place We've had events here 3-4 times in the last 6 months and it wasn't until this last one that we decided this place is not worth the cost. I gave them many chances before writing this. We arranged for one of the rooms ($250 for 2 hours). The screen wasn't even properly working for anything other than the golf simulator - all other sports were a complete waste of time. The daytime bartender was cool but said the evening bartender with dreds only lets there be 1 tab and requires a 20% service charge. 20% on a $250 charge to rent a space that's empty is wild! No flexibility for us especially being return customers. Food is okay, nothing special. The place was empty with no other patrons for our entire time but the bartender kept hustling us out. Half of us were sober too so it wasn't a noise problem. It's ironic that when we first came in for our reservation, they had an off duty employee playing with his friends and had to clean up the back room for us. Cool to see they allow employees free time but charge customers an arm & a leg. Will NOT be back and CANNOT recommend this place.

We sat down and took a family shoe game photo #wewearJordans after we were done playing. The screen is our bay.

Our family went on a planned outing to Swing Social. We rented one of the bays so we could play golf and some of the other games. The area we had was huge and so comfortable for our group. Our server was Briggitt, but she goes by Bri. She was THE BEST. She showed us how to play the games, took care of our food and drinks, didn't forget about us even though we were very much not within her range of sight, and she was so friendly. She really made our experience awesome. We had a great time with the games. We tried several food items, but our favorite were the burgers! The music playing while we're were there was fantastic, and the entire night was just one that we want to experience again. We will go back for sure!

Food and Service were great. Alex the manager made an exception to allow our party of 10 to order food even after the kitchen had closed. Unsure if there was a glitch in the reservation system (because it allowed the reservation) but he made the exception. Madison was great at getting our meals out to us in a timely manner. The music and ambience fit out group well. Glad I found this restaurant. Next time we will have to make sure to do the golf simulations. Great service and delicious food.

I went to a fun event here! They had a buffet of appetizers consisting of sliders, nachos, cupcakes, churro bites, birdie bites, etc. and the food was really tasty! They have golf simulators, but there are other interactive gameplay as well, if golf isn't your thing. I ran into some friends and they bought us drinks and let us try the games. It was fun, but I realized that I am a terrible golfer!

GolfBar Went here for my friend's birthday this last Tuesday night. First time here! The aesthetic is very modern, hip, and fun. We rented out one of the virtual screen spaces and played a few different games: golf, basketball, baseball. It's a good time with friends if you like virtual games! It was pretty empty. It felt like it was just us there, but no complaints - it was pretty cold this past Tuesday, so I imagine with better weather they'd have more service. The manager offered us some FREE new items they added to their menu - chicken mac n cheese and fish tacos. Alongside that we ordered the buffalo cauliflower - a little too breaded and the blue cheese chunks are overpowering (and I LOVE blue cheese for the record), the double smashburger - no complaints, the deviled eggs and the Veggie bowl; my friend who had the bowl said he was not a fan. If you want my honest feedback, I would not recommend this place for food. It's all your carb-loaded comfort foods and not in an appetizing combo. But it's definitely a fun place to go out downtown and socialize with some friends or celebrate an event!

I came here for a work event where the entire spot was rented out for us. We had endless drinks and appetizers and that were either at a station or constantly being passed around by waitresses. The little bites were pretty good. Their bartenders were unstaffed and not able to accommodate to a huge catered rented out party. Their service was slow and they purposely ignored you on purpose since they were busy and if they had already given you a drink 45 mins ago. I do like the whole virtual arcade/game concept though. It seems like somewhere you'd be able to take your kids and be able to eat/drink at the same time.

We continue to frequent this spot because of the fun atmosphere and great service! We always have a great time at Swing Social (formerly Johnny Wahoos), especially when any of our favorites are working, like Chenelle and Marshall! But we love everyone here! Really excited that the new menu has launched, can't wait to try it all! We just tried the new dart board - SO FUN! It has more games than just traditional darts and is definitely a great addition to the already fun simulators and Money Games

Unfortunately, this is one of the scammy and sleazy bars in the Gaslamp area that should be avoided. First, when you book their simulators, they actually force you to tip 20% on the cost of the actually simulation. So essentially, if you book a $125 simulator, there is an automatic gratuity added of $25 for the bartender, plus any additional drinks you order. They also ask if you want to tip additional without telling you the automatic gratuity has been applied. With this said, I wouldn't have left this review if the below didn't happen but wanted to make sure any future customers were aware of this practice as there are tons of other bars that offer simulators for less than half the cost. I booked two simulators on during the Valentines day special where you would supposedly get 3 free sim vouchers (see attached picture). The special indicates as long as you book the specific special on Open Table between 2/12 - 2/16, you would get the vouchers upon your first visit. When I wrapped up my two simulators on Valentines day weekend, I asked the bartender about the vouchers and he indicated we would receive them through the email we booked. We never received anything so I tried emailing and got zero response after a week. I also tried calling several times and no one ever picks up. I wanted to give the company one more chance and sent an message through their social media page, and again, no response. It's now obvious the vouchers were a scam/ploy to get customers as they are never fully booked out.

Everything we selected was really good. Wed got the Frito Pie ($12), Chicken thigh tenders ($7), and Tots ($7). The frito pie presentation was my second favorite part (after the bear glass drink), It came in a all-clad style bowl with the chip bag cut open inside, loaded with Texas-style chilli, melted nacho cheese, and shredded cheese. It was so good I even started adding tots in there too. The tots and Thigh tenders had the perfect crisp! They have sweet and sour chili sauce for dipping with the chicken which was fab! The retro decor made the place even better. I loved seeing the old Blockbuster VHS tapes and music cassettes displayed around the bar. My little eye also spot the Dallas Cowboys flag! I heard two kids and a mom order like two plain burgers and I felt so sorry for them lol. Staff were exceptionally nice. They gave me 15% off and even free cornbread simply bc my order came out a few minutes late and I was getting hangry from walking around the zoo all day with no food. I realized I lost my phone in my uber and the sweet waitress allowed me to run to my hotel to get my wallet. They even offered to call my phone for me. Their hospitality was incredible :)

The Bbq was easy and quick to order and I ordered: *2 Sets of FULL RIBS with a side of beans. *BRISKET PLATTER with a side of Fries. *CHICKEN PLATTER with a side of Potato Salad. *PULLED PORK PLATTER with a side of Garlic bread. *LEMON DROP cocktail. My Son had the FULL RIBS, and my husband and I also had another set of FULL RIBS that we shared. They were tender and delicious, lots of Bbq Sauce on it. Our side was Baked beans, I like baked beans cooked with Bbq sauce, here the bake beans are lightly seasoned but still good. My son's friends had the BRISKET PLATTER, CHICKEN PLATTER, and the PULLED PORK PLATTER. They said that they were good and tender. It's good bbq here, but I had much better ones at other bbq restaurants, and with more of a really strong smokey smell and taste on their Bbqs. Here all of the Bbq sauce did not have that bbq smoked smell and taste, but as I said they are still good. Customer service here is Fun and very friendly. We had 2 cool servers Marfy & Jason who were always very attentive on anything we might need. Parking as alway is a pain here, it's Gaslamp so it's very busy downtown 'coz it's close to the Convention center and the Stadium and there's lots of restaurants around here. Mostly dinner time is always busy here in Gaslamp especially on the weekends. It's less busy if there's no Baseball Games or Comic-con, so plan ahead when visiting the Gaslamp.

Disturbing lack of ADA and psychiatric service animal awareness. I had an upsetting and humiliating…read moreexperience here involving my psychiatric service animal. When I entered the restaurant around 7:00 PM, I was stopped and questioned extensively by security regarding my service animal. Rather than being asked the limited ADA-compliant questions permitted by law, the interaction became prolonged and uncomfortable while staff repeatedly attempted to determine whether my dog was a "real" service animal or simply an emotional support animal. I remained waiting at the entrance while this was repeatedly discussed back and forth. What made the situation especially humiliating was that another patron openly laughed at me during the interaction while walking outside for a cigarette. I later realized this same patron had her own dog inside the establishment in a stroller the entire time. Staff members appeared very familiar and comfortable with her, and multiple employees, including my waitress- referred to her as a "regular." Although her dog was eventually moved to the patio area, the contrast in how the situations were handled made me feel singled out, embarrassed, and unfairly scrutinized. I later spoke with management in hopes of resolving the matter respectfully. During that conversation, I was surprised and concerned to hear that neither management nor staff were familiar with psychiatric service animals or their protections under the ADA. Psychiatric service animals are legally recognized service animals when trained to perform disability-related tasks, and this lack of awareness was deeply concerning, especially in a city like San Diego with a large disabled and veteran community. I fully understand that businesses are allowed to ask limited ADA-compliant questions regarding service animals, and I also understand that many establishments have dealt with individuals falsely claiming pets as service animals. However, there is a significant difference between appropriately verifying a service animal and making a disabled customer feel publicly interrogated and humiliated. The overall handling of this interaction lacked professionalism, sensitivity, and basic understanding of ADA service animal protections. No customer should feel mocked, scrutinized, or publicly embarrassed simply for entering a restaurant with a legitimate service animal. I sincerely hope this situation can serve as an opportunity for additional ADA education and proper service animal training for staff moving forward so that other disabled guests do not experience similar treatment. I would appreciate being informed of any steps the restaurant intends to take regarding ADA compliance and staff training before I determine how I would like to proceed further. Thank you for your time and attention.

Captain's Log, Stardate 21483…read more This past Sunday, I charted a course to Nicky Rottens in Coronado, a delightful establishment located at the end of Orange Avenue. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted by an uplifting open-air environment, truly a breath of fresh air that felt like stepping onto the observation deck of the USS Enterprise. The amazing views of the bay were nothing short of spectacular, bringing a serene beauty that rivals the finest star systems. Over the years, my wife, her girlfriend, and I have become frequent travelers to this culinary haven, beaming back for nearly 15 years--a testament to its enduring allure. The selection of IPAs and mixed drinks is impressive, catering to even the most discerning palates in the galaxy. The choices are vast enough to satisfy anyone embarking on this flavor exploration, whether you prefer a refreshing drink to toast a successful mission or something bolder, like a phaser on stun! The menu features a delightful array of options, including fresh salads, tantalizing finger foods, and, of course, their famed burgers. My wife's enthusiasm for the offerings has always been infectious, and during this visit, she and her girlfriend were on a culinary adventure of their own, indulging in the flavors that have made Nicky Rottens a local favorite. The burgers are truly out of this world--juicy, flavorful, and expertly crafted to ensure a warp-speed experience with every bite. You'll find that each dish is prepared with precision, as if overseen by a skilled chef with the abilities of a Vulcan and the passion of a true culinary Starfleet officer. In conclusion, Nicky Rottens is a prime destination for anyone seeking a vibrant atmosphere, stunning views, and a solid meal. I can confidently say that if you ever find yourself in Coronado, this establishment is a must-visit. After all, it's just one small step for man, and one giant leap into deliciousness! Live long and prosper. End log. Captain 619

Got a paloma and the flavor was more intense than I expected, but it was pretty good…read more Tater tots are nice and crispy, great texture. Aside from that, they're generic normal tasting tater tots. For the burger, I liked the bun and other ingredients, but thought the savoriness of the meat was just okay. Also, can't say I'm a huge fan of the tiny lettuce whenever I see it. Overall, this joint is not bad, but I can think of very little about it that stands out. I don't feel that it fully leans into being a sports bar or dive bar or even as a burger joint. It's just.....a bar. Apparently, it prides itself as being an original coronado spot, but I didn't get that kinda vibe here. I don't know.
