My both daughters had their Bat Mitzvah party in Colbeh 8 years apart. If I had more daughters they would have had their BM in Colbeh as well. It is a really nice place, the managers are truly caring and helpful at any detail there is: from helping with food selection, party planning, security etc. The staff, the music, the room set up, the atmosphere - were all really superb. The food was organic, fresh, delicious and plentiful: they also added a lot of options on the house. After the party we had our guests (there were 150 of them) call us to tell how nice this party was, and the Colbeh managers called us to tell that the received such calls too. Unfortunately drove 1 hour to eat here. To be clear I came in with less expectations given COVID. However, COVID can't account for the rude staff. The restaurant should also not market itself as Persian/Iranian. Many elements of a standard dish were missing. The tahdig we ordered came out at 80% rice with crumbles of crispy rice mixed in. Of the many Persian restaurants I have been to with my family, it is the first time we decided to cut the meal short half way through to go back home and make something ourselves. The staff from the greeter, waiter and all servers were attentive, polite, knowledgable and efficient. We ordered a few appetizers and 3 different main dishes. Rude people, bad service and way overpriced! I would not recommend this place to anyone! The guy who answers the phone does you a favor to even answer your questions. The food gets to you half cold, the chicken and meat is so overdone that it's dry as a board. The salads have absolutely no salt pepper or anything. I have been to both locations. It's not bad, but I had better Persian food. I feel like the food is adjusted to American pallet and lacks spices and flavor. The orange rice was way too sweet, and when you look for the recipes online, most traditional recipes call for some spices. The kebabs were a good cut, but also lacked spice and flavor. I went to a beautiful wedding there, and the service was attentive and reception was beautiful. But, I am still looking for my spice. read more

Went for a business dinner as our host wanted us to taste food from his country. Very empty but clean. We had a variety of items to share. The hummus was the best I've ever had and I can't get the baba Ganoush out of my mind. We had cherry rice which had a nice flavor but was too crunchy for my liking. So after driving to Roslyn Heights for a Jack D's birthday, I realized that I drove to a completely different Colbeh. (Smack on the head). Fifteen minutes later in the opposite direction I arrive to Colbeh in Great Neck, Thanks for sending me directions earlier guys! (Btw, keep in Mind this is during Passover) So upon entrance, the place was nicely dimmed with a moderately filled dining room. Waiting for atleast 5 minutes behind a man crunching number on his calculator, he decides to ask us if we had a reservations.. Very rudely might I add. After we confirmed, he point to the back of the restaurant and told us the party is in the other room... What other room? I nearly walked into the kitchen accidentally looking for this "other room." Found the party in a spacious back room that looks like they host weddings or something. I'm just gonna cut to the Cons first. CONS: MENU - Extremely overpriced food (Passover Menu) I very much dislike any place that takes advantage of the population to profit on holidays SERVICE- attentive but lack knowledge of dishes and any inquiry of the menu. If your going to charge nearly $50 per plate, atleast know how to describe the plate... "It's basically cut meat" does not answer my question. FOOD- (5/10) unimpressive, a large plate with 2 sticks of kabobs with a choice of side and a roasted tomato. I ordered a mix of chicken and ground Kufta kabob stick.. Both extremely dry and lacked good seasoning. The salads were tiny for the price and also lacked any seasoning or pizzazz.. Diced lettuce with one tomato.. "Special salad"?! Really?!?! CLEANLINESS- (1/10) grotesque bathrooms! Toilet paper everywhere, bathrooms are un sanitary and tiny, I was forced to wash my hands and hold it in. Dining room is very cluttered with stuff in random places. PROS: Spacious tables and romantic dinin room Note to self: Never dine here on Passover! BEWARE OF COLBEH CATERERS AND CARLYLE venues: For months you plan a party with the hopes that it will be a fabulous and fun night for all. Certain people went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed and wanted for our daughter's Bat Mitzvah. Bobby Farokzad and Eli Aronshvilli from Studio Flash, Amir Shah, you guys are THE BEST and we thank you tremendously! We wanted to throw a club style party, different from the usual temple parties. After speaking with many to find a cool venue, we were introduced to Carlyle at the Palace by Colbeh caterers. We had never worked with Steve Carl of Carlyle and Colbeh only once so we were nervous as to what they would deliver. We sat in countless meetings going over menus and decor, and stressed the importance of the food, the variety and abundance of it, along with the other million details that go along with these parties. We NEVER negotiated the price, just asked that everything would be top of the line. At $200 a person, this is NOT what we received!!! The night of the party, the event coordinator, Brittany, who sat in every single meeting, never showed up. Steve himself left after a couple of hours to take his "girlfriend" out...are you kidding me?? The cake was not there for candlelighting, arriving instead at 10:30...an hour after we had already finished. I have no pictures with this cake. You cannot redo that. The dinner was not the menu we had agreed on and was cleaned up and closed at 10:30, when we had agreed that it would be open and replenished until 12:30! Why would they do that?? There was no dessert room. Just passed around desserts. The cakes and pies and cookies that we had paid for were not present. Every single guest was supposed to have bagged hot pretzels and chocolate chip cookies at their departure. Oops, they forgot to load the catering truck with the machines. The list goes on and on...and all of these things were brought to our attention by our close family and friends after the fact. The next day when we approached both sides with a very nice letter thanking them and wanting to address these issues, we were dismissed. Since then, we have tried numerous times to reach out and were met with denials and them blaming each other for whatever went wrong. Not even one apology. No responsibility. They knew how to take top dollar for the party but didn't want to even speak with us afterward. This is not how you build your brand or your reputation. What both of you Carlyle and Colbeh just did was embarrass yourself in front of 350 of my guests. Do you really think any of them will come back and reserve a party with either of you? SHAME ON YOU BOTH!!! We will NEVER work with you again. I hope this post makes others think a second time before wanting to work with these two companies. JUST DON'T DO IT!!! read more

Favorite restaurant in Great Neck. The beef kebab is insanely tasty (albeit sometimes a little bit tough) and the portions are a monstrosity -- one order of beef kebab might be in the mid/upper twenties but it could probably feed an army with the amount of rice and side dishes that come with it. Went to a party here. Service was good but I couldn't seem to get anyone to fill by water glass when I wanted to and had to get up to get water. The food was okay to me; not great. We liked the orange rice but the found all of the meat on the kabobs to be dry and overcooked. The desserts were also lacking in whatever makes desserts yummy. The meat dishes are great but the Chilean sea bass is amazing. It's a bit pricey but you really do get what you pay for. We had a kids' party for our son's bar mitzvah last night, and Colbeh arranged for amazing food, a full entertainment package, photography with a videographer, and decorations. The party was absolutely fabulous and our son had the time of his life. The food was arranged beautifully, was fresh, and delicious. We have fantastic portraits and action shots from the entire evening. The DJ and MC made sure that all of the kids were engaged on the dance floor. It was obvious that all the kids had a great time. We were so happy with the outcome. Colbeh is the place to go if you want a great party. They made the planning simple, but tended to every detail, and delivered a sophisticated result.
