My husband and I are restaurant hoppers, we love hitting spots during off-peak hours when they're not at capacity, and that's exactly what we did here. Being early birds, we had the place practically to ourselves, which made for a relaxed, no-rush lunch. I ordered the Jucy Lucy, a cheddar jack stuffed patty on a pretzel bun with sweet potato fries. When I cut into it with the steak knife they give you, molten cheese came pouring out of the center of the patty. That's exactly what you want from a Jucy Lucy and this one delivered. The pretzel bun had that perfect glossy chew, shredded lettuce and what tasted like a Thousand Island-style sauce rounded it out, and the whole thing was gloriously messy. Sweet potato fries were crispy and well-seasoned, not soggy, which is always the gamble with sweet potato fries. My husband went with a double patty burger on a brioche bun with tater tots. Melted cheese was dripping down the sides and those tots came out golden and crunchy. He had no complaints. Paired everything with a pink lemonade cocktail (refreshing, ice-cold, lemon wedge garnish) and waters. Perfect for an Arizona afternoon. Service was quick -- probably helped that we were the early birds -- and the atmosphere is laid-back sports bar vibes with plenty of seating options including comfortable booths, tables, and bar seating. Only reason it's not five stars: it's a little on the pricey side for burgers. Cold Beers & Cheeseburgers is the perfect place to catch a game, with TVs scattered throughout so you never miss the action. The food is consistently very good. A great way to start is with the Jumbo Soft Pretzel served with jalapeño cheese sauce. They also offer several styles of creamy mac and cheese, or you can build your own with a variety of proteins and veggies. I've also tried the teriyaki chicken sandwich with jack cheese and a pineapple ring, and it was cooked perfectly. One of my favorites on the menu is the hard-to-find-in-the-Valley Jucy Lucy cheeseburger, which is always a treat when you can find it done right. Leaving this review just to give an employee a shoutout. We were here Sunday night. The hostess was more concerned with squatting down on the floor taking selfies than actually doing her job. She was busy playing with her hair and nails and on her phone the whole time. She kept seating tables and not communicating to the two servers in charge of taking said tables. Our server was a super sweet young girl. There was a tall guy with a beard and hat that was running the place so flawlessly. Communicating with the other server and the lousy host about what tables came in first, who would be serving each table, etc. I'm not sure if he was the manager but he stayed so organized and calm with all the chaos. I could tell it was done sooner (fast is good) because the lid was full of condensation, and my bottom bun disintegrated after about 5 minutes into my meal. It was gluten free so that one is on me. My first PBJ Burger: VERY rich, lots of cheese, burger patty was large (good) but it wasn't pink like I had asked, and very much gave pre-frozen vibes. I have been here twice, once as a group of 4 and the second as a group of 7. Each time we have sat in opposite sides of the restaurant, so I have a good feel on the entire space. The food here is good. It's not the best I've ever had, bur it is far from the worst. It is your typical American food with burger and fries. My kids love the chicken stripe bit hate the Mac and Cheese because it is too fancy for kids. They like the plain stuff. Both times our server has been great and I have no complaints, even when it was busy. The beers on tap are lovely and even the mixed drinks are tasty. Came here to watch the men's final four game. Crowd was huge and it was amazing that they had the game on ever TV with audio. Service was quick however, our waitress wasn't the most attentive - we had to ask for refills granted it was super crowded however being a sports bar/restaurant I think they should've had another person helping. The wings were fake-grilled with low-quality sauces, and the Cobb salad was a total joke: cheap turkey and a scant amount of toppings. The beer menu at least offers a decent selection, so that part is fine. If you want better food quality, better homemade dressings, and a better price point, Zipps is easily the better choice. CBCB unfortunately is Mid at best. I'm glad we had gift cards so we didn't have to cook tonight, but moving forward, we'll strictly only pop in for drinks and quick appetizers. read more

I remember not being especially impressed, and I want this time either I ordered a cheeseburger, and I asked if they could put a fresh onion slice on it because it's did not come with one. I appreciate that that did for me. I did not, however, love my cheeseburger. I ordered it medium, and it was practically raw--barely seared on the outside. My bun was soggy (I hate wet bread), and I stopped eating it halfway through. I was so excited that Cold Beers and Cheeseburgers moved in to the old Famous 66 spot. I loved Famous 66 but their prices were a bit outrageous so I feared they wouldn't last and lo and behold, they're gone. CBCB is a good replacement but after our experience here last night I'm concerned that this location might be short lived. When we arrived we were told there was a 10-15 minute wait, which we expected on a Saturday night but what was odd is that there were like 8 empty tables that remained empty while we waited and were sat. This leads me to believe that the kitchen was behind and they put people on a wait to catch up. This is exactly what Famous 66 did when they first opened up and we all saw what happened there. I ordered the veggie burger without tomato and added avocado. For the side I opted for the side salad for an additional $2.50. The burger came out without the avocado so the server brought some on the side. The salad was brown and wilting and its bagged salad that they just add a few cucumber slices to. Not worth the extra $2.50 in my opinion. The burger was good but I think I'll get it on the ciabatta bread next time as the bun it was on fell apart. Service started out good but then quickly went down hill. It seems our server forgot about us as it took almost 30 min for him to bring the check and when we paid, we had to bring it up to the host stand because the server disappeared again. Toward the end of our meal the server only had 3 tables so I don't know what the hold up was with everything. It seems the parent company for CB&CB bought Famous 66 as a turn key operation and kept the same staff/management. In fact, a lot of the old Famous 66 stuff is still up. All CB&CB did was change the outdoor signage. I'm concerned because I believe the poor management is responsible for the demise of Famous 66 and if they're running the new CB&CB then I fear it wont last. read more

Stopped in today after helping someone move. We were so hot and tired and starving! We were seated right away. I ordered the cheeseburger fries crispy bacon, I got burnt bacon. Hubby ordered his burger medium rare, it was well! Our food tasted good, but man service was SLOW! Food took a while to come out too! Our waitress was always MIA when we needed something! My husband never got a soda refill. We had to keep asking the hostess and other waitresses for help. Finally our waitress came around, apologized and said she lost someone's credit card and gave us our bill. We gave her a credit card and instead of checking us out, she went and took a large parties order, then went and talked with the other large party of the lost credit card. 15 minutes later she comes back with our credit card and we were able to leave! I really wanted this restaurant to succeed since no other restaurants at this spot has done well. But after having gone here 3x, I must say it is bad/mediocre at best. But they cannot seem to cook a burger to order, I prefer medium rare, and I either get an over cooked well done burger, or something so red and bloody, that it is almost raw, its so confusing. Sure, they offer to recook the burger, I refuse, because I am hungry and I don't want others to wait and me urging them to eat the whole time we are waiting for the cook to get his/her s*** together. Why ask how I want my burger if the kitchen is going to ignore that request? Is it really as difficult as they make it seem? First time I went I asked for a side of fries/onion rings, no problem. This last time I went I asked for the same thing and the waitress was like "no, we don't do that anymore". That was it. No let me check, I'll see what I can do, etc. Like why? I am willing to ignore the minor stuff if you're going to give me what I ordered, but as a burger place if you cannot even cook the burger right, that is a major red flag. The one time I did get what I ordered it was a good burger. But given how damn expensive everything is, I am done gambling on this place and throwing away money.
