This wasn't just any ordinary apple cupcake, it had apple filling in it! Never have I ever had such a thing. February 2024. Went up to $5 each. I went about 12:30 and there were only four flavors out, red velvet, vanilla, and two others. When I came in I asked about the cupcakes because there were 6 trays empty. The guy said that German chocolate and chocolate are just coming out now. I ended up getting one chocolate and one red velvet. The pink lemonade one is my favorite so I was bummed they didn't have it. Maybe they just take cycles getting flavors out for the day and what they had out were left over from the day before. The chocolate was super moist and delicious. I didn't order these but they were served at a party I attended. The cupcakes were nothing special in fact tasted like a Betty Crocker box confetti cake mix. They had no special identifiable flavor and definitely not moist but in fact very dry and crumbly. The butter cream frosting was butter cream frosting, nothing special and a toy decoration on the top. Three dozen of these cost. $189 (yes I asked the hostess) and for the overall quality in my opinion very overpriced. don't know that I will ever use this merchant especially after reading some of the other reviews. That said the owners and employees must be very, very nice though because if they weren't I don't know why anyone would purchase their cupcakes over some of the other cupcake merchants. read more

Absolutely worth every calorie!! The cake is so moist and flavorful. The frostings are thick, creamy, and rich. A variety of flavors daily. During my visit to Alaska, I have had cupcakes for breakfast and dinner. Since they do not ship, I aim to taste every flavor while here, I will work off the excess when I get back home. The business is small and quaint, clean and the staff is very friendly. The owner can create beautiful and delicious made to order cakes also. I went to this lovely business today and I was delighted to see Ms. Eva saying farewell to 2 customers as I came in. They all turned to greet me and the put a smile on my face. I thought I had recognized her from the photo and I asked if she was Ms. Eva and she confirmed that she was. She patiently explained to me the various flavors of cupcakes and when I asked which ones were her specialty, she responded by saying that they are like her children and they all received the same amount of love. I liked that answer a lot but it did not help me narrow down which cupcakes I was going to get . They all looked so good! I chose sweet potato, Life by Chocolate (it's called Death by Chocolate but I prefer to affirm that chocolate gives me life ) and pink lemonade. My nephew, my husband and I agree that they were delicious cupcakes as evidenced by the clean cupcake wrappers. Specifically, Ivan vouch for the pink lemonade one. It had lemon in the cake as well as the icing. They were all also quite beautiful. We are leaving soon but I feel at least one more visit before heading back home. read more

A hidden gem in Mountain View. I stopped by here while I was in the area one day and I'm glad I did. The interior is cute and whimsical, like a grandma's house. It was a nice place to take a break during lunch. I like that this place focuses on one type of baked good and does it well rather than many bakeries that have multiple less-than-stellar pastries. All the cupcakes looked very good; simple but still nice presentation. I had a hard time deciding, so the friendly girl at the counter gave me some recommendations. I decided to try the banana cupcake and the sweet potato cupcake. Both had smooth frosting with the right amount of sweetness and a nice caramel drizzle on top. The cake, as mentioned by other reviewers, is on the dry side, but I wasn't particularly bothered by that. I love anything with sweet potato so that cupcake was definitely my favorite. I probably would have gotten more, but specialty cupcakes (at least in Anchorage) are on the pricey side. I'm not in this part of town often but next time I am I intend to visit again. read more

The cutest little cupcake place I've seen in Alaska!! We came here after a light lunch to grab a cupcake and we're pretty surprised at how nice it was. I don't spend much time in this area. Friends of ours have told us it's in the hood, but coming in here you'd never know. We walked in and were greeted right away. Two friendly faces, one of which was THE Eva that the shop is named after. After a quick run down of the cupcakes and availability we decided to get 6. Lol. They all looked so pristine and scrumptious that we just could t handle ourselves. We picked a gingerbread, pink lemonade, red velvet, sweet potato, and two sour cream pound cake cupcakes. They looked so good that my son and I couldn't even wait to get home to eat them. My husband used the restroom, so we took advantage and started in on them. The pink lemonade was filled with lemon curd and topped with pink lemonade frosting. This was the most flavorful and not overpoweringly sweet frosting I've ever had! I consider myself a baker and I've never even made a frosting that good! My son ate the gingerbread and boy was it good. It was so cute! Topped with a tiny decorative sugar cookie and cream cheese icing. I had a bite and it took me back to the gingerbread my dad used to bake up when I was a kid. The service was great, the selection is great, ambiance and decorations were great. The only thing that kept them from getting 5 stars was the small hair I found while peeling back the paper of the cupcake. Like whoever was filling the cups wasn't careful tying back the hair. Oh my goodness! I was pleasantly surprised to come up on this cupcake shop here in Anchorage Alaska. I was just visiting for a short time and just on an outing with my sister and we decided to stop in. The customer service was absolutely amazing. They had many selections even gluten-free. I settled on a cupcake that was poundcake with cream cheese frosting. Often times when you go to these places the cream cheese frosting is way too thick and sweet. I had always intended to go here... now I wish I had gone sooner. On a rainy day when everything had gone wrong, I looked up from the list of things we had to do and asked my kids if they'd like to try the cupcake place. Naturally a big yes, so we went in and picked a different flavor for each member of the family: Death by Chocolate, Pink Lemonade, Carrot, and Apple. They were all beautifully decorated, and the lady behind the counter was very kind and had obviously put in a lot of care in a long day of baking and decorating. We took them home and I bit into the apple one and it was amazing: inside was apple pie filling and a terrific apple cake topped with a really delicious buttercream. You wouldn't believe one cupcake could fix your feelings about a rotten day, but it truly did and I would recommend this place to anyone. They must've had 8-10 flavors; definitely something for everyone. The other cupcakes were equally well received. I will visit again. read more

This lovely place is everything a cupcake shop should be. Warm and welcoming, a displayed variety of flavors and, most importantly, delicious cupcakes! On the day I visited, I snagged a German chocolate (awesome icing), pumpkin (moist and light), sweet potato (wonderful!) and chocolate with raspberry filling that was Heaven. I want to say the chocolate cake was my favorite for being so rich and moist but I think I have to praise the cream cheese icing the most: it was the lightest and fluffiest I've ever had and I've had my share, people. Absolutely melts in your mouth! But then the German chocolate was kind of amazing too... If there was one tiny drawback, it would be, of course, the price. At $4 a pop for a normal sized cupcake (that price in a NYC cupcake shop will give you a "cup" the size of your face), it's not a cheap thing. But cupcakes are, and have always been since their emergence as a boutique dessert, a small, handheld decadence. So the prices are comparable to other cupcake shops in Anchorage and I'm willing to pay for a specialty dessert I can't find at Carrs or Fred Meyer. Definitely a keeper! read more

When it comes to cupcakes, there are a few things that I always look for. First, I want to taste butter in the buttercream, crisco frosting is a no-no, Eva's cupcakery uses butter, woohoo! Secondly, I want moist cake, Eva's was moist. And lastly, I want fun flavors if I'm buying them at a shop. These flavors are fun and go together great. My favorite is the lemon and lavender cupcake. The shop is clean and cute. It has a nice assortment of refreshments. And the staff was very nice, the shop has a welcoming atmosphere, in my opinion.. I've walked into places and without even talking to anyone I feel tension in the air, or an unwelcoming feeling from staff.. This is not at all like that, it has a good vibes, I like good vibes. An adorable boutqiue-like cupcake shop. It is so nicely decorated, that it makes you feel like a doll walking in there. The staff was very friendly, engaging and had a positive disposition...all a plus for this lovely little shop. The cupcakes themselves are pretty average in size, but so adorably decorated. The cons is that I find the cupcakes overpriced and when you're wanting specific ones for the future it's hard for them to know if they will have it available on the day you want it. It was my birthday, and I wanted chocolate cake, dang it! Problem is... why were there no bakeries in Anchorage that I could think of to go to to get one on a Saturday? Drove around town, stopped at one place and was appalled at them charging $65 for a cake that didn't look that good (that's you Flying Dutchman!), and after a few more losses, decided to just get some cupcakes from Eva's. We tried the Death By Chocolate (x2), the Red Velvet, and the Sweet Potato. Each one was equally moist, and though I normally hate frosting, as it's usually made too sweet, the frosting on each of these were perfect - even my husband agrees! I'm a chocoholic, but was surprised, as the Sweet Potato one might just be my favorite (or at least equal with the DBC one). So good! My only complaint is that they are expensive. If they were cheaper, I'd be there more often (but is that a good thing?). Something to think about Anchorage - do you want customers to make fewer visits due to cost, or do you want to make the costs more reasonable and have them come more often? It's something that plagues this town. read more

Our group purchased 4 cupcakes: cookies & cream, pink lemonade, red velvet, and sour cream. The red velvet one was excellent, but the other three ranged from average to terrible. I think very few people buy cupcakes here (there was no one else in the place the entire time we were present), and so the baked goods tend to be old and dried out. One of our cupcakes was so old, its cake was the consistency of a crisp cracker where it wasn't covered by frosting. I cannot recommend spending $4 on a dried out hunk of cupcake. If you get lucky and get a semi-fresh one, they are pretty tasty. read more

The decor is whimsical like a grandmas house. The customer service was fine but the cupcakes were dry and there was way too much sugar in the frosting, not to mention there is a mountain of frosting on the cupcakes. I'm so glad my husband pushed me to stop by this cupcakery. I'm not a cupcake type of gal, but he is. I was craving sweets, so i signed and decided to go. I'm so glad I did. It's is such an adorable place!! We didn't realize they were about to close, you wouldn't know because they didn't sigh and give you an attitude for being in there. The presentation was great. I scraped a lot of the icing off (I don't do well with icing) but from what I had, it was glorious. It passed my cupcake test. It was nice talking to the owner and hearing her story.
