This ice cream was such a fun surprise! It actually tasted like the cereal, not just the sweet marshmallows. I don't know how else to explain it except for that it tasted like "grain" in a good way! It was like the milk and the cereal all in one bite but in ice cream form. It was such a fun food experience. Not one to usually leave reviews but felt this one was necessary. Came on a weekday night to the cold stone in the plaza when it wasn't very busy. Only one employee was wearing gloves. I watched multiple times as those not wearing gloves accidentally stuck their hand, fingers, and jewelry into the ice cream they were scooping. Females with long hair not wearing any sort of hat or hair net. Definitely beware if you have any type of allergy!! Could not be more cross contamination if they tried. Scoops were clearly not cleaned as flavors were mixing when employees started to scoop. I watched an employee mix peanut butter into ice cream, scoop it into a cup, and then immediately put the next ice cream directly on top of the unsanitized surface. Other employees were handling cones with their bare hands. Clear lack of cleaning with the store, behind the counter was incredibly dirty, waffle cone makers looked terrible like they haven't been cleaned in a month. Open personal drinks sat around the cones and ingredients behind the counter. Service overall was not terrible but couldn't say it was the most pleasant experience I've ever had. Unfortunately cannot recommend going here at all due to the clear lack of sanitation and care within the store. Clearly due to these reviews management should work on some major improvements to the way this store is run. read more

Ice cream shop is spacious and crowded. There is a variety of ice cream flavors to choose from and they come in 3 sizes. I grabbed the banana crunch and my bf tried the Oreo overload. In my honest opinion I would not come back just because although the ice cream was good - it was way TOO SWEET and kind of over whelming for me to finish. I came in excited for some good icecream, but left just feeling guilty about ordering:/ the guy taking my order wasn't even looking or listening when I told him what I wanted. He repeated my order incorrectly because he wasn't listening so I repeated it again and clarified making sure he was good to go. He then proceeded to make it and only asked if I wanted a cone or a cup. At the end when the cashier asked what size I got, I said "like it" and the employee that made my icecream got super mad at me and claimed I asked for a "normal" size which is a "love it size". 1) I never said normal and 2) every single Coldstone I've been to have always clarified the size with me and I realized the employee never clarified with me. So I tell him there must have been a mistake since he never specifically asked me what size I wanted. He proceeds to lecture me on how I said "normal" which means the love it size. No location has ever told me that and always checks the size using the exact words "like it" or "love it". No location has ever assumed. I said "sorry" twice but he just made me feel so guilty and kept repeating how I ordered totally wrong. I didn't want the ice cream after that. I'm pretty sure they charged us for love it sizes anyway so not sure why they had to make us feel awful for a small mistake. As we ate, I heard him clarify with every customer after us if they wanted the like it or love it size... don't get mad at the customer for not asking like you're supposed to. The customer service was bad. The worker that helped us seemed very annoyed and not happy to help us. The store was almost as hot and humid as the outside temperature, which was 92 degrees outside. They had fans going but it did little to cool the store down. The ice cream was extremely melted because of the temperature inside, so it was unenjoyable from the beginning. I have not been to a Coldstone since I Lived in Maryland. I'm more partial to local ice cream shops. However, my Little from the BBBS program and my daughter wanted to stop by, so we did. They could see right away that I was accompanied by little people so they offered them samples to try and then made two very colorful ice cream cups. The kids loved it. I ordered a vanilla cup with brownies and fudge and caramel sauce. Delicious! I actually wished I had gotten a larger size. The service was great. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because they did not sing a song and I thought you were serenaded at ColdStone. Did they stop that? We went to the register to pay and another employee came over and the two of them starting working on some project (adjusting tips or something) before they took our money and completely ignored us. Usually we love going to Cold Stone! I love the customizable flavor combinations and the people there are great, but this location I would avoid. The people working there don't seem to care at all, and frequently say "huh" or impatiently stand there as you make a decision. Even if you know what you want they move at the same pace. Frequently there aren't many people there, but somehow it takes me 20 minutes to get my ice cream. I hope that they find associates that care as much as their other locations. read more

The point I'm trying to make here is *don't fuck with a fat kids ice cream*!!! It was after 10 o'clock at night on a hot Tuesday evening in late June and that crazy summer heat had convinced my brain that it needed ice cream. I didn't want the ever so popular fro yo, I wanted cold and creamy ice cream. We made it a family outing. My partner and my dog loaded into the car, drove to Murray's (choice #1, cause they also have *frosty paws* for the pooch) closed, drove to Glace, closed 10 minutes earlier.....now it's becoming a mission on top of the original craving.....thought about going to Winstead's but settled on going to Cold Stone Creamery on the Plaza. Arggg, big mistake! Some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced. NOTHING even came close to resembling customer service. Was inside for 15 minutes with only two people ahead of me. A line had formed behind me as five or six employees *worked* the shop. No eye or voice contact from any employees, no 'hi" "we'll be right with you" "thanks for waiting" NOTHING! I got "what do you want" when I was finally helped. No help, no service YET there were more employees than customers when I walked in. To top it off, the display case was filthy. To piss me off even more, I want to support businesses on the Plaza, mostly at night to prove there isn't a *flash mob* waiting around every corner, well not this business ever again! If I could, I would give them zero stars for zero customer service! My family and I came to the cold stone on the plaza, for Father's Day. There was a line outside the door when we arrived, and the ONE employee working behind the counter was more concerned about counting his tips, and hitting on girls than he was about getting people through the line... As one customer approached him, to see if there was anyone else coming in, or what he was going to do to help get the line moving, he had no answer, and told the customer if he didn't want to wait, then he was welcome to leave. (I know how frustrating it can be to get slammed behind a counter - I used to bartend in a prominent bar in a D1 college town. However, customer service is still the number 1 priority. Apologize for the inconvenience, and try to speed up your process to accommodate the rush.) The second employee that was working, who I assume was the prepper, was doing the closing work and changing out half empty ice cream pans and restocking the add-ins (2 hours before closing time), instead of jumping in and helping his coworker. I've worked in the food service industry for a long time, and it is rule number 1 that if your coworker is struggling to keep up, you lend a helping hand no matter what your job title is. After being in line for over an hour, the prepper finally stepped in to help prepare orders (which he was obviously not trained to do)... He didn't know how to make any of the menu items. I applaud him for trying - it takes a lot of guts to jump into a position you have not been trained to do. Overall, I blame our horrible experience on poor management... Knowing what I do about the service industry - it is best to over staff busy shifts (especially on holidays like Fathers Day). That location has the potential to be extremely profitable. But until they can properly train all of their employees, and find the right people, they will continue to lose customers. read more

Oh My God, maybe if I had gritted my teeth and waited in the HOUR long line for ice cream with my sister last week, I would have given it another star - but considering I never did get my cup of birthday cake ice cream, I don't have to be that generous. Cold Stone is generally very satisfying - all the toppings to your hearts desire, mashed in all the right ways into a cup or waffle cone - what more can you ask for? Well, I ask for quicker service, and subsequently, shorter lines. Cold Stone isn't a celebrity - I felt foolish and a little piggish to be waiting in line for a guilty pleasure for THAT long (and I'm not exaggerating, my feet became sore and people around me started to pull chairs from the tables to sit down in the line with.) Cold Stone's around the country have unfortunately cannibalized their businesses as of late, eating up each other's business by placing two creameries too near each other to produce solid income. The Plaza location has to be sweeping up, however. In Kansas, you'll see a different story - those Johnson County-ites love their Cold Stone. But here, you get the after dinner crowd and the shopping crowd - which makes for a practical death march waiting it out with them to get to the front of the line. My sister and I decided to walk to get some gelato on the south side of the plaza - it's only real competitor in the area that serves cold and creamy desserts (but the crowds prefer Cold Stone because of the decadent options of mixing cheesecake and brownie bits and fudge sauce together...who can compete with that?) read more

I LOVE Cold Stone..but HATE this location. The line is always so long, and moves so slowly. They never have what I want, always out of stock. The place is dirty. The workers are young kids that would rather gossip back and forth then actually doing their job..like greeting customers, or wiping down the countertop. What really confuses me..is where is the manager!!?? I never see anyone over the age of 12, and after seeing all these reviews you would think they'd change..but nope!! First, since the location of the store is primo, it should be a flagship store and getting ALL the business on the Plaza. Then they wanted me to pay for my icecream after I didn't want it anymore because how can I know if anything there is actually sanitary.
