Every time I have been to this Cold Stone Creamery I have had excellent service. If other patrons have been pigs and left the tables and chairs messy, one of the workers is right on top of it cleaning up. My order is always prepared correctly and the birthday cake I ordered was exactly to my specifications. As for the poor reviews for this place, take them with a bucket of salt. I suspect I have seen some of the people who complain and it doesn't surprise me. When you cannot enunciate your words so that you can be understood despite being having your order read back to you and you nodding that it is correct, that is totally on you. And they're ice cream cakes....if you don't specify what you want it cannot keep getting changed like a standard bakery cake unless you want all your frosting/toppings to fall off. I asked why more boys don't work in the shop and the girls who were behind the counter said that boys haven't applied so the owner isn't a pervert (not that the other reviewer could spell that properly). Our family loves this place! Sal is wonderful and has even made our "usual" minutes before closing when we've called. He really goes above and beyond. Our summer camp takes a trip here every year bc they love the ice cream and it's a fun treat for the kids. Their ice cream is delicious, never had a complaint. They insisted that they were together so I entered. Seconds later they entered and the "Karen" complained that I cut in line. After she flipped me the finger, she was served 1st and her order comped! Went to get a medium cake on saturday the 20th of Sept around 6pm. Got a little sticker shock when i found out it was $35.99. I had to ask again because I wasn't sure I heard right. So we got the smaller ghiradelli chocolate cake for $25.99 I'm just behind the times on prices. The young girl rang me up, and was ready to walk away without a "do you need a bag?" or "thank you for your order". I had to ask "do you have a bag?", which then occurred to the girl that perhaps maybe they do have bags to put the cake in. i realize that I may be tough, but I do expect a 25 cent bag for a $26 cake, plus it is easier to carry it around. I have been to many Cold Stone's from San Diego to Daly City and the servers are really nice and practically go all out for you. This place was different. If I could have given this place NO stars, I would have. We felt like having ice cream the other night, so we went to cold stone. There were three of us, we ordered three items TO GO. The young woman helping us made the orders, then opened a paper bag to place them in. We paid for our ice cream, took the bag and went home. Upon our arrival home, we open the bag to discover one of the orders was not in the bag. Went back to the store, told the young woman she forgot to put the 3rd order in the bag only to get attitude and a sarcastic "why would I put that in the bag?" "I left it on the counter and assumed you saw it, how was I supposed to know you didn't?". When we complained to the older man working with her, he told us he's not the one who made the orders (IOW why are we complaining to him). There was no apology for the mistake from either one. I agree with the other Yelper who said the manager wasn't very customer friendly. We ordered ice cream and wanted to use our $5 reward. We inputted our phone number and claimed the reward on the screen, but the receipt never popped up. The manager said that there was nothing that he could do if a receipt doesn't pop up. He was lightweight rude about it and told us to go online to handle it. I'm not trippin about the $5 but moreso the principle of providing good customer service, whether that's honoring our reward or being more empathetic/ helpful about it. I don't normally complain about things, but this place has the hardest time getting an order right - and I've never tried doing a cake. My family normally orders shakes and smoothies, and we have never gotten out of there with the right drink and the right size cup on all orders. You sort of have to wonder how hard it is to make four drinks, I wouldn't mind if they wrote it down or something. Take the drinks off the menu if they are that hard to deal with. Terrible service and rude. I ordered a cake here for my son's birthday on the 4th of July. When I ordered, they tell me to come early so I don't have to wait when it gets busy on the 4th. On my way over they call to tell me they can't do firework design will a flag be OK. I tell them yes and ask should I wait to pick up since they are still decorating. They tell me, "no, come and get it, it will be ready. I get there and the place is empty. I ask for the cake and they tell me it will be 10-15min!! Do they say, "I'm sorry"? No, they just give me a bunch of excuses. Why not tell me it wasn't ready when I called. My impression is they don't really care. So I went home to wait a half hour. when I called back to see if the cake was ready, he got sarcastic and said it was ready when I was walking out the door. One star goes to the ice-cream because the ice-cream itself is great. But I had the worst experience when I tried to order a cake for my 3 year old's birthday party. I personally went into the store to place the order. When I asked about a spiderman cake, the young lady behind the counter had no idea what I was talking about. Then I had to ask if there was someone more experienced in the place. Then a man comes out and tells me that they can make a spiderman cake. Then hands me off to the young lady to take my order. She appeared to write down my information but it was so sloppy I was worried. She told me not to worry, and that it will look just like it does on the website. Of course, the day of the party, I go to the store to pick up the cake and it was so awful! It was absolutely hideous. Furious about this, I spoke to the manager on duty who basically told me that was the best he could do and he's not good at decorating. I was absolutely livid and wanted my money back or a new cake, perhaps the cake I paid for. All he could do was tell me sorry that's not their policy. Then he tried to blame me for not ordering the cake correctly. He told me that I should have ordered the rectangle size. I tried to tell him that I was never even informed that there were options because the lady who took my order told me there was just ONE type of spiderman cake. He just shrugged his shoulders and said, "sorry." I demanded to talk to the owner and all I got was, "he's out of town and unavailable." To this day, which is now 2 months after my son's party, I am still waiting for a return call from the owner who apparently could care less about shoddy customer service. Furthermore, not to my surprise, at the party, I was talking to one of the parents who told me they had the exact same thing happen to them when they went to Cold Stone Creamery. I hope when they read this, they change some of their policies. What ever happened to customer service? But I guess that's a thing of the past. By the way, I looked on the website and the cake is ROUND not rectangle as the manager told me it was supposed to be. My nick name should be ice cream girl. Not only do I love ice cream, but I am picky about it. Not everyone on planet earth likes chocolate (I heard your gasp of utter shock as you were reading this) and finding GOOD ice cream that isn't chocolate is no small undertaking. Coldstone has great customer service, the owner and his daughter are really nice and with a clink in the tip jar, they sing hilarious songs for the kids. All the flavors are really good and even the few chocolate flavors I've sampled (I'd never waste a good dollar on chocolate LOL.) The toppings are always fresh, the store is clean and he's really good to the community (the owner gives back from the heart to local sports/schools.) Coldstone is in my top two faves for ice cream spots. read more

Stood in line and thee was an old man with a young lady who obviously saw me coming in. I was next in line til this old man walked in and decided to just stand in front of me and cut in line and the employee were ready to serve the person who cut in line. No smiles, no greetings, nothing!!! The other employee justsstarted chatting away with the man who cut in front me, while the young lady got my ice cream. I asked for mint chocolate chip and strawberry ... strawberry way too sweet and mint was weird. No chocolate like I asked but I didn't care about the chocolate anymore. The customer service that my husband and myself received on two separate occasions, was offensive. I take my child here often as a little after school treat:) There is a girl who wears glasses (and another girl with glasses who is awesome, but she has darker, shorter hair, and usually wears a hat.) and has longer brown hair...you'd know her "customer service" if you experienced it! I went here one night to get my grandma a hot fudge sundae. She wanted some ice cream with whipped cream, hot fudge/chocolate sauce, nuts and a cherry. So I go in to order this and tell the young lady working there "I basically want two sundaes." She asked what flavors so i told her. She put them in cups and walked right past the toppings.
