I was in town, and I was a little curious why this place has a low Yelp score. When I walked in, the air in the place seemed stale. There was short line, so I had time to look over the flavors. I asked for: A medium with coffee & coconut ice cream, with shredded coconut. This older man who was helping me didn't smile and lacked energy. He just went thru the motions of blending everything on the stone. He was very knowledgeable as I asked him questions about the business. Price $6.99, takeout, no tax. There's no tables inside, so everything is takeout. How was the ice cream? My ice cream was served to me soft and melting. It wasn't a hot day. When I was at the Cold Stone Creamery in Hayward ( A Street), the ice cream was served to me hard as a rock. The ice cream from the Linda Mar location tasted great. But the shredded coconut he mixed in was old and hard to eat. It was like pieces of string were in the ice cream. Okay, I guess I won't be coming back to this location. Free parking. read more

This place has gone downhill. Not sure if it's just this location or all. No longer do they have tables inside so it's to go only, at a strip mall, with no place to sit ... and this is ice cream so I guess we are to eat it in our car?!? When we saw that they had no more tables we decided to get the prepackaged ice cream from the freezer as we had done before. Yet this time the ice cream had freezer burn, it was icey/crunchy. And it was $14. As we left (before tasting the ice cream) my wife pointed out that there is a Safeway across the street with cheaper ice cream. But I said "but this is hand-mixed and packed". Boy was I disappointed when I got home. Also previously they removed their extensive menu of creative ice cream "recipes". Things like "the pie who loved me" were no lost to history. I have ordered photo cakes from the Tanforan Cold Stone multiple times in the past with no issues. Because that location was temporarily closed, I ordered from this location instead and unfortunately the experience was completely different. I placed my photo cake order on Thursday for Saturday pickup, which meets the 24 hour advance requirement. The issue was communication. The Cold Stone website does not list an email where photos can be sent, unlike other locations such as Tanforan. On Friday noon I began calling the store to get an email address to submit the image. I called multiple times throughout the afternoon but no one answered. They finally picked up in the evening, at which point I immediately sent the photo and followed up asking if the dimensions were acceptable. I never received a confirmation. When I picked up the cake on Saturday, the photo was printed very small instead of full cake size, which completely defeated the purpose of ordering a photo cake. When we called to address the issue, the manager was rude and dismissive, told us there was nothing he could do, and refused any refund or resolution. He also claimed the issue was that I should have ordered 24 hours in advance, which I did on Thursday, and I attempted to communicate as soon as they opened Friday but no one was answering the phone. Mistakes happen, but the lack of communication, accountability, and customer service was unacceptable, especially for a special occasion. I order a cookies and cream milk shake and the one person starts to put together the order only to have the other person stop her and tells me the blender is shut down. They had 3 of them. I ask are they on a timer? And the girl just glares at me. The store was still open and all she responds, they're shut down. It's vanilla ice cream and a few Oreos? It's like she has tunnel vision and at the end when you try to correct her and add the addition topping you wanted she just puts it on top without mixing it and says it's already in the cup so I can't take it out and remake it. Coffee milkshake with almonds and brownie pieces was it really good treat after a good hike in Pacifica. The problem was a service here was horrible. When I saw the girl scoop just a few almonds into the milkshake blender I asked for a little bit more and she charged me for two extra scoops. Yet, when I watched a couple of teenagers that she knew come in later on and ask for extra Cookie Dough Bites I look to see if she charge them extra and she didn't. I love this location - it's convenient, great service and plenty of selection. The ingredients always seem fresh and I love all the mix-in options! My only suggestion would be to have more dairy free options other than sorbet/sherbet. The little boy who was unenthusiastically "helping" me flat out refused. He said "It's too much work." I pointed out that the process is the exact same as any other order with a mix-in. He then said he could mix both flavors and toppings together, but couldn't do a mix-in on only one of the flavors. That's ridiculous AND the same amount of work. I was really craving ice cream on a hot afternoon, so I decided to try out this Cold Stone Creamery in the Linda Mar Shopping Center located in Pacifica, CA. This turned out to be a very interesting experience! I pulled up to the store, parked, and was about to exit my car when I noticed something that made my stomach churn. There was an older man behind the counter who was preparing ice cream for a customer; everything looked pretty normal until it happened.... The employee was adding a peanut butter topping to a sundae, and unfortunately it got all over his hand. He looked around for a second or two to see if he could find something to use to wipe his peanut butter drenched claw. 5 seconds go by with no luck of a napkin, paper towel, rag etc...so whats the next best thing?? He decided that his only and best option was to gorge each of his gooey fingers in his mouth to suck them clean. You would think that this action would merit a thorough hand washing right?? NA! He didn't skip a beat, and continued to prepare and serve ice cream to unknowing customers. Needless to say I bolted out of there quicker then germs from a sneeze...never to return. I really wish I could say that I made this up, but trust me I'm really not that clever. If you're craving ice cream buy a gallon from Safeway. You'll thank me later! read more

I come here around once a month for milkshakes. The girls working behind the counter are always very nice and do their best to get your order out in a speedy manner. Been coming here since they opened and never has it been an easy stop in to get an ice cream. Stopped in there after picking my kids up from school. There were multiple employees working but no one was there serving ice cream. I waited over 5 minutes and I asked the employee who was behind the counter if they were open and she replied "is our open sign not working or on". I told her that we were the only ones in the store and waiting to order and she said she was busy. This has to be the worse customer service ice cream shop. This isn't even our worse experience there but this was a bad one. Save your money and TIME and find a better and more mobile ice cream spot. We left the store and found ice cream being sold two blocks away in front of a house. Served 10 people in five minute. Kids were way happier with this ice cream and I was happy I saved a few bucks. I was patiently waiting in line with my cousin. There were two workers, a lady and the business owner. The lady was taking car of someone and we were the next in line. The business owner caMe and took the order of the people behind us who were white. Then once's he finished them, he went to the next people who were behind us to get their order. The business owner is racist and didn't take our order just because we were Asian. We were going to orderr but we left. My cousin used to go there every week. Every time I have been to this Cold Stone Creamery I have had excellent service. If other patrons have been pigs and left the tables and chairs messy, one of the workers is right on top of it cleaning up. My order is always prepared correctly and the birthday cake I ordered was exactly to my specifications. As for the poor reviews for this place, take them with a bucket of salt. I suspect I have seen some of the people who complain and it doesn't surprise me. When you cannot enunciate your words so that you can be understood despite being having your order read back to you and you nodding that it is correct, that is totally on you. And they're ice cream cakes....if you don't specify what you want it cannot keep getting changed like a standard bakery cake unless you want all your frosting/toppings to fall off. I asked why more boys don't work in the shop and the girls who were behind the counter said that boys haven't applied so the owner isn't a pervert (not that the other reviewer could spell that properly).
