I just had a very unfortunate encounter at Coldstone. The young woman serving me gave me as part of my change a $5 bill that not only had been altered (bits missing), but then taped back together, making it (in my opinion) suspect. When I asked for a different bill or different denominations for the $5 she refused stating that she had no change. As there was at least $4 in the tip jar I put the $5 in and took out $4. As she believed the bill to still be good she should have no problem keeping it as a tip, yes? Apparently she didn't want it either and called me rude. I have had this same circumstance happen in other businesses with staff effecting the exchange with no problem. That said, I am hoping the owner will have a conversation with his staff regarding suspect currency. read more

Insane absolutely insane. I ordered my cake ahead of time and it was confirmed and my husband goes to pick it up and the one sign on the door one door says they're closed for the holiday. The other one says they had to close early because of an equipment failure. Which one is right? All I can tell you is nobody bothered to call me to tell me to pick up my dessert earlier and it was my son's birthday and I had no birthday cake I had to go to Safeway. Safeway only had two2 pies left and that was it. As far as I'm concerned, I need my money back and they should pay for my pie too. And I've called and they told me I had to talk to the manager and they took my information and the manager is not calling me back. This review is based on an experience I had back in 2004, when attending the Training Center Petaluma for the US Coast Guard. This location was a weekly stop for a friend and I. We would stop at the Panda Express next door and then swing over the to Creamery to get some ice cream to go before heading back to the barracks. I always had a great experience and those behind the counter were always pleasant. They worked quickly and always sang when you tipped them. Sometimes it was worth tipping just to hear them sing. I was never disappointed even after eating it later that day because we had a freezer we could store it in. You might be thinking to yourself, how does someone remember something that far back and why does it matter now? I remember alot of places I visited over the years, so for them to have that much of an impact makes it worth the time to write a review now. I can't speak to how they operate today, but back then, I enjoyed a weekly ice cream from them. read more

I'll keep this review short and to the point - the boy who took my order seemed fairly new. I ordered a Like It Cheesecake Fantasy and ended up finding a piece of hair in my ice cream. I had shown the workers there and they apologized, asked again what I ordered and another worker girl decided to remake my ice cream into a "Gotta Have it Size". Regardless, as much as I appreciated the kind gesture - it seemed like there were way too many new workers who didn't seem to have enough training. Both of the people who made my ice cream was constantly asking the person in charge how to make it, they also were taking forever at the ice cream buckets trying to figure out how much to scoop out according to the size of cup I ordered, and by the time the ice cream reached the counter, it was already melted. Both of the workers were not wearing aprons or name tags so I couldn't catch their names but they were very young. 5 stars for the amazing service! I've always liked cold stone but I hardly come because it is on the pricy side and to by honest, Baskin-Robbin's mint chip is my all time favorite. When I do get the chance to come, it's a treat. When you walk in the store you always first get that waft of cold sugary candied goodness! As with most ice cream places, but I feel it's more noticeable and significant here. Their signature creations are always the best. Chocolate devotion is delicious! I noticed they have pricing for the signature creations listed but it's the exact same as getting something regular and adding one mix in. They have a lot of flavor choices, and treats you can put in (eg. different types of nuts, candies, cookies, fruits..). I also love the all around experience of getting to watch them mix your ice cream flavors or other ingredients together on that "cold stone." Haha. It's fun. There's a decent amount of seating. I feel like all the locations I've ever visited had the exact same store layout. The biggest difference here was the two people working tonight. There was one guy and one girl working. They were both very friendly and greeted us. There were a couple people in front of us so we waited a few minutes. The both of them, at different times, thanked us for waiting and said they'd be with us shortly. It's so nice to visit an establishment with genuinely kind employees. I've been here a few times and every time it makes me question whether we should lower the minimum wage. Each time I arrive here no one is behind the counter, and a few moments later a couple workers lumber out; curmudgeonly and reluctantly broaching the light of the outer room to do what what they get paid for. I smile and say hi,..... smile and say hi again, and finally get a response. The ice cream is of course delicious, but every time I come here I can't help but think these employees are the rejects of the Safeway deli. If you've ever tried to order a sandwich at Safeway, you know what I mean. One of the employees audibly complained about new customers coming in. I don't care if you're incompetent, or lazy. At least try to be pleasant. Whether you're happy or not, it's part of daily life. We all do it, and it makes life easier for the people we interact with. read more

We just left this cold stone. As we were walking in there was a girl cleaning tables and mopping and when we went inside she went to the ice cream ready to assist us. She didn't wash her hands, and it literally smelt so strong of cleaning chemicals we had to leave. 8:30 on January 5th. We told them it smelt so strong and they said yeah we're cleaning. It was so bad we couldn't even stay inside to order, they jusy laughed when we left. But this girl did not even wash her hands as she was dealing with the chemicals. Nor did she have gloves. This cold stone seriously sucks. Actually it's just the girl who helped me.. I got a "like it" size with 4 toppings and she couldn't mix any of the toppings in it, also each spoon of toppings I asked for, when she put it on the counter, half of it rolled off onto the floor. Cold Stone deserves more than 5 stars. Especially after my experience today. Lunch time... eat some nasty-ish food... still hungry... OOOO! TURN AROUND OFFICEMATE... We're going to COLD STONE!!!!!!!!!! Yay!! As some of you know, I recently found out I'm allergic to peanuts and sesame, I barely get the words out and the guy says, "No problem." THEN.... goes in the back and gets me MY OWN NON PEANUT TRAY to mold the ice cream on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO excited! I am obsessed with ice cream and now I know I can eat it still at Cold Stone. I LOVE IT. I LOVE YOU COLD STONE. Last night I ordered a Hot Stone Creation called No Fair Funnel Cake. I was a bit put off to see that the hot funnel cake was immediately placed into a plastic container. The cake had been in the oven quite a while and must have been quite hot. In any case, I thought if this is the practice, it must be okay. However, my instinct was correct. When I was on the way home, holes had melted into the bottom of the container, causing sauce and ice cream to leak all over my pants. When I got home, I transferred the product into a bowl. The funnel cake tasted entirely of plastic and, being 14 weeks pregnant, I chose not to continue eating the potentially toxic and hazardous product. It is my opinion that this practice of serving hot items, straight out of the oven and onto plastic containers is not only an ill-informed practice, but also toxic for the person consuming melted plastic. I have to insist that this problem be addressed. The service was fine. The teenaged employees were very busy but polite and courteous. They should not be faulted for being poorly trained. read more
