I love going into Rocky Mountain locations whenever I spot one. I had the best toffee almond caramel apple here. Their Granny Smith apples are great quality. My boyfriend and I split one and we devoured it within seconds. They offer to cut them in slices which makes it easier to eat. We showed up just in time to watch an employee making caramel apples. I asked if we could purchase one of the apples he just made, but unfortunately they have to cool and harden first. The caramel apple we got though tasted like it was just made. Make your mall duty taste sweeter! I am not a big fan of spending a lot of time in shopping malls, especially if there is not an electronics shop in them! But, one must put in his/her shift when one is called for mall duty, if you know what I mean! Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory has become my favorite stop in this mall since Bose Factory Outlet moved out! I walk in there, get me a caramel/nut covered apple, and munch on it while I wait. The apples come with different choices of nuts and I like them all. The green apples are just right and their flavors blends nicely with the sweetness of caramel and crunchiness of the nuts. I have never tried any of their chocolates, but judging from all the happy chocolate munching faces coming out of the store they must be as good as the apples! read more

GET THE WORMS AND DIRT OREO CARAMEL APPLE! They give you two gummy worms on top and ah it's just SO delicious! It can be quite messy, but who cares when it tastes so good. I had never been to the Petaluma Premium Outlets but I found this place and was immediately attracted to the word "chocolate", and the cute fluffy bear outside the door. Caramel apples are almost always my go-to when I go to a chocolate shop. My family said they were "going to take a look" with me, and they ended up buying more than I did. My Dad is a huge fan of peanut butter chocolate sandwiches from Disneyland and was very satisfied with their version of the treats. Similarly, my Mom was happy with her chocolate covered strawberries. The service was so good! The shop may have been very tiny and I wasn't super sure when the line started, but they made sure every customer was accounted for. There was a long line when I came in so I was pleasantly surprised that they kept things moving by passing out samples and asking if they could prepare anything to go for us. I always appreciate a thoughtful group of employees. I would definitely recommend! And would come again. read more

I am a dark chocolate connoisseur. I love trying new places; however, tonight, I have regrets about ordering from this place instead of See's candies. I had a bite of the dark choc with orange, and it was disgusting. Whoever thought of this combination should be fined. Immediately, I spit it out. Anything you get here is always tasty. I like the chocolate covered orange peel the most. Then it's a tie between the Carmel Pecan Turtles and the Chocolate & Carmel dipped marshmallows. Yeah I know, there's a giant bear outside. I guess that alone is reason enough to visit the shop for many people, but I suspect the word chocolate might be a bigger draw! Well, having visited here the first time with my little nephew and sister who were in town for a weekend visit I must say that ultimately, I've had better chocolate elsewhere. I'm not saying that there is something wrong with the quality of the product--on the contrary they actually have some sweet and scrumptious treats--it's just that I've had far better similar offerings in other places. I must say though that the fudge they make is soft, sweet, and creamy and has the right consistency I expect of a proper fudge treat. Aside from that the other items that I tried didn't really impress me. Certain items are sold by pieces while others are sold by weight. At $22.95 per pound a large Reese's peanut butter-looking-concoction, the price is quite steep. Therefore, I'd rather take my non-existent sweet tooth somewhere else. read more

Their website claims "The Peak of Perfection in Handmade Chocolates" I always wonder what companies are really thinking when they sell a sub-standard product, and then say that they have the best "xyz" in the entire known universe. The chocolates at Rocky Mountain are NOT the peak of perfection. They are not even a rocky crag of perfection. Not even a minor hill. I've been there several times, usually with someone. I always buy something, and I am always disappointed. The chocolate is not good chocolate. Some of it tastes like coating compound, not even real chocolate. The fillings don't have bold tastes, and often have less than optimal texture. The fudge is often grainy, with a poor mouth feel. Seems like it often sits too long uncovered... So, what has spurred this rant? I am verging on diabetic. I've lost 30 pounds, and have started to watch the carbs. I still LOVE chocolate, and occasionally cheat and have some of the real stuff. I have also discovered sugar-free chocolates. I've had some pretty good ones, including little Dove chocolates, available in a bag in most stores. There I was in front of the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory and decided to see what they have. Quite a bit, it turns out. Abandoning my reason and sense, I said "Give me one each of the sugar free stuff." $30+ later, I left with my haul. Not cheap. Better be good... Stale, chocolate-covered pretzel. Bleh. Everything tasted old. They were atrocious. I sampled a few, actually spitting some of them out after a couple of chews. I eventually threw away most of it. They do have ice cream, and that's probably good. They also have prepackaged candies, and those would probably be a good bet too. Usually I have very nice things to say about anything to do with chocolate especially since I absolutely LOVE the Caramel Apple Pie apples but the angry, old man behind the counter ruined not only the experience but my precious apple! He didn't greet us when we walked into the tiny room, so he can't pretend he didn't see us, he didn't ask us what we would like, he didn't smile and he ruined my apple!!!!!! I don't know how other apple slicers do it but he crushed all the white chocolate and cinnamon off of the apple so it was like eating a caramel apple with pieces of sticky white chocolate. A highlight of an otherwise lackluster outlet mall. They offer a variety of chocolates, along with coffee drinks. So far, their only food competition at the Petaluma Outlets are the vending machines. They have friendly, helpful service. The cashier was kind&attentive. Rocky Mountain Chocolate is OK. They're in competition with local brands like See's, Ghirardelli, not exactly a fair fight. Customer service is iffy here. Walked in and had asked for a list of drinks they had and the lady who answered was completely rude. Her tone of voice and the way she answered gave me a bad vibe and all I wanted was a list of the drinks. She basically said - well just think of what Starbucks makes. And it wasn't in a nice manner. It was incredibly off putting....I wanted a list because I was volunteering for the blind and one of the members wanted something to drink and I was trying to order something for her. I ended up just getting a water bottle because I didn't want to deal with anything else. Hope she works on her customer service. read more

Horrible horrible customer service. I came in here tonight to get a latte and it appeared that no one was in there. I stayed inside looking at the menu, assuming someone would emerge from the back to take my order. Five minutes later, still no one. I leaned over the counter and noted a male employee sitting RIGHT BEHIND the wall (I could see his shoes). And he obviously knew a customer was in there. After seeing this, I walked out immediately. And I was pretty upset. The SECOND I left, I looked back into the store and the employee magically had appeared. It certainly wasn't a coincidence that he appeared as soon as I left. I wasn't expecting much when we walked through the door, but I was pleasantly surprised by the number of vegan treats they have! The licorice is delicious, but expensive, but worth it. They also had at least 4 different chocolate desserts. I got the chocolate covered s'more. It was awesome. The marshmallow was more like that white stuff inside of a charleston chew- which I remember really liking when I was a kid. Delicious chocolates! My favorites are the peanut butter fingers, the salted caramels, the chocolate caramel pretzels, and the caramel apples. All of these items are reasonably priced are very tasty. Most people seem to think the PB buckets are better than the fingers, but the fingers are more peanut buttery and less expensive. I've also tried the sugar free items, and for the most part, they are pretty good. The orange jellies and the coconut haystacks are among the better of the sugar free items. The meltaways and the truffles are also tasty for being sugar free. Overall, as long as you purchase what you like, you can't go wrong here! read more

Ugh, the worst service ever. The clerk couldn't figure out the cash machine, then overcharged me $5 on a $9 bill. I had to ask for a receipt, then when I (in 3 minutes) brought it to her attention she refused to help me until after the next customer. The candy wasn't even good. Never again. read more
