I came in 9/20/2017 around 2:30 PM to find a line of six customers and only one employee, after waiting about 25 minutes I could not wait any longer and had to get back to work. Ordered pistachio , strawberry and butter pecan for my family. Took it home , now the pistachio was really really green but I figured it's all made there maybe that us how it looks well we tasted it and it tasted like pistachio at first and the gasoline taste overpowered it. We brought it back to the store the girl said "I was wondering why all week long people were returning the pistachio cause it tasted funny! Ok so it's SPOILED! Why are you still serving it! I don't go here normally but it's raining and they offer curbside pickup on their website and the kids wanted a treat to end spring break. I placed my order online and went to pickup... there's no indication outside as far as where to park for curbside so I went inside. I had to wait in line for an order I should have just been able to pick up despite there being 4 people standing behind the counter. Finally got to talk to someone to pick up my order and I was notified that they don't actually have curbside pickup. Not sure why it's an option on the website but whatever. The order was ready but it was wrong so I had to stand around and wait again for someone to get the part that was missing. The ice cream was already soupy before I even left the store, by the time I drove the 10 minutes home it was mostly melted. Long wait, very expensive for what you get, saw staff drop scoop on floor then put pack in water with other scoops and to top it off, the bathroom was disgusting with no paper towels. Cold Stone Creamery is rocking every night. The staff seems to work well under pressure because they are still smiling at customers. I pick up orders for Uber Eats and let me tell you that sometimes customers order from 15 miles away. That is a good sign. I just had the worst experience with the owner / manager at the Rockaway cold stone. We Will not be returning. We went for my son's birthday, planning to use gift cards the kids received for Christmas. There was no sign or mention made about gift cards not working. Our order came to $40.25 and I had $40 in gift cards. Our orders were all already made. When I attempted to pay, they said it wasn't working and someone was currently working on it. (credit card were working fine though). I would not have gone at all if I didn't have the gift cards. I told the worker that he could verify the gift card value online and put it through later. He said I could wait for the manager. After over 15 minutes, they came out with signs to post. He did not acknowledge us. When we asked again, he was incredibly rude and said there was nothing he could do and suggested we buy the business from him. Needless to say we walked out and my children were very disappointed. Got a caramel apple here for a special occasion, but when we went home to eat THAT night it was all rotten inside (see photos). Emailed the company, got a very defensive call from the store owner/manager, who said she'd mail me a coupon. Never got it so I took the rotten apple in (I had frozen) and got a new one. Although this is not my first negative experience at this place today really upset me. I have to start by saying I love Cold Stone, I have been coming here since it opened in 2007. (All other Cold Stones around have closed so it's my only choice. My complaint is simple, I purchased a "love it" ice cream and I had my 2 year old that I wanted to share with and I simply asked for a small extra cup. My request was declined, and although the female owner has always had a displeased personality she seriously declined a .25 cup to a customer that just paid nearly $8 for one cup of ice cream with a newborn and a 2 Y/O. I hope she uses her saved pennies to buy some cleaner for that disgusting bathroom. read more

Every time I come here, which is usually a Saturday or Sunday night, there is usually a long line.I don't have a problem waiting, only because I really like their ice cream. But, if I have to wait and get treated rudely, THATS A PROBLEM! I own my own restaurant and have owned it for 18 years. This is not friendly customer service. If I have to come into a restaurant and get an attitude as if I'm bothering them, I just can't go back. Went in the other day for a couple of milkshakes. The manager on duty was so incredibly rude and had such a nasty tone in her voice when she asked what I wanted. Middle aged woman. Before I could tell her my second order she cut me off by walking away. The customer in front of me looked at me with a face that said ' I don't know what's her problem ' and we both shared a shallow chuckle.. While she was making my first order one of her employees (presumably a new hire) asked me if I was being helped since I hadn't moved down the aisle to the register. I said 'barely' and the new hire proceeded to ask what else I wanted. She was very sweet and just wanted to help. Rude manager scolded her and said 'keep playing with the ice cream' so she shyly walked away. So nasty and uncalled for. Tells you a lot about the business being ran. When the manager realized I had another order she was clearly bothered and you can see it in her face. It's not my fault you're an impatient entitled witch of a boss. Both small shakes somehow added up to $16 even though I've ordered the same thing there multiple times without it costing as much. I was so livid at the entire experience. Whenever she's working it's a nightmare and this past experience will be my last there. There's a tall metro-gentleman that works there that's always a dream and so sweet and kind. He should be promoted and her- demoted. She also gave me an attitude when I gave her exact change so I could get bills in return. Not my fault you're shitty at math. First, I love their ice cream. It is good. So what's up with the 3 stars (I really should give it 2)? One day I read my receipt. This is the only ice cream place where they charge you extra for a cone - I mean a regular sugar or wafer cone, not a waffle cone. Really, do you charge me extra for a cup and spoon too? I don't know if this is a "Cold Stone" policy or just Rockaway, but really guys, stop nickle & diming people! The item is less than a penny. Next, if you've ever ordered a cup to eat on the spot and have ordered larger containers to bring home to have for a few days, you'll notice that they load up the mixtures for a cup but use the same amount for a large (not sure if it is a 1/2 gallon or full) container. Talk about saving every nickel they can! Disappointing. TO THE OWNER OF ROCKAWAY COLD STONE: how is it you use the same amount for cups AND large containers? YOU are the reason I've stopped being a regular and that goes back to something you said you would honor and then didn't! I really did go there on a regular basis but now I'm always talking myself out of an ice cream when I get the urge. I can not spend money in an establishment that is about every nickel and dime. I do support those who are about the customer (and I make sure I tell my friends about those places). Go and enjoy the ice cream (yes, they are expensive). I don't think it even deserves a star but it's the lowest one I can give. The people gave us attitude the whole time. They got annoyed because my friend asked to taste a flavor she ended up getting, but the worker acted rude towards her the whole process. The girl that took my order kept looking at me with annoyance and when I paid with my debit card she gave me attitude. Then they ignored my other friend, skipping her when she was clearly next in line to order. We got our orders and my other friend had still not placed hers. I called to order a birthday cake for my son for the next day and the rude girl who answered the phone told me it has to be a 24 hour notice. I told her it would only be 2 hours short of the 24 hours and she chuckled and said no they wouldn't be able to help me. I immediately called another Cold Stone Creamery and they were not only nice but didn't have an issue with my request and will do the cake even on a shorter notice. This place is shit. I worked here for 6 months and it was the worst experience of my life. I had high expectations of working here as my first job as a 15 year old girl. I made minimum wage, for the entire time I worked there. First of all, the owners were super nasty and pretty crusty if I do say so myself. Me, not knowing better, thought having the absolute minimum of 15 minutes for a break for a 5 hour shift was great. I would be starving and not allowed to eat at all, not even in the back. Also, they would put me on the schedule, and 10 minutes before the time i was told to come in, I would receive a call saying that I was no longer needed to work the initial shift due to slow business on whatever day that was. It happened 50% of the time working there. The manager has made me cry 6 times of working there. she was a nasty little bitch who thought it was okay to be rude to me. she had no reason to be so strict with me and criticize me for everything. Also the bosses wife is cheap and crusty and always has a bad attitude. I regret ever trying to impress her. Also, it was very unsanitary conditions in the back. There was melted ice cream on the floor behind the counter that everyone would constantly slip and bust ass over. we used the same rag to clean the counters as we did the floor and would change it biweekly. Workers would half ass wash dishes and leave crust on the bottom of the blenders, that would leave chunks of ice in the bottom of your smoothies. but the ice cream was alright tasting, but definitely expensive. the owners would hire anyone who walked in the door, and people would be hired and fired every week. Whenever someone ordered a cake online, they would come to the store and it wouldn't be made. there's mostly angry and overweight customers who come in like 4 times a week. Have ALWAYS enjoyed going here until last night (Sunday, November 29th, 2015). The girl who waited on us was so rude that I will be taking my business elsewhere. I was with my two daughters and my younger daughter was having ice cream like I was, but my older daughter noticed a sign on the counter advertising "hot drinks", i.e. hot flavored cocoa, and she decided that sounded great since it was chilly outside. She told the girl what she wanted (ordered EXACTLY what the sign listed, word for word) and the girl looked at her and said, "Uh, whatttttt...??" First of all, you're in a place of business and how about you act professional and say, "Excuse me?" So my daughter repeated it and pointed to the sign, at which point the girl pretty much rolled her eyes and said, "Uh.....we don't have that here." So I walked up to pay and said to the girl, "What did you tell her again? Why can't she order what's listed on your menu?" At this point, the other two people working there (younger people) went into the kitchen area and started laughing (basically making fun of us) and this snotty girl who was waiting on me again rolled her eyes and snapped "We're out". No explanation as to why these hot cocoa drinks were PROMINENTLY listed on a menu on their counter and why they're first saying "we don't make that", then "we're out". We're regular customers and I'm appalled that this Cold Stone location has rude people who go into the back room and proceed to laugh and make fun of a customer who asks a question. I'm going to continue with my complaints to this company and find the customer service number or corporate number to let them know that the Sunday night crew at this place is a disgrace. read more
