It was a hot Wednesday afternoon (5/17) and I was in search of ice cream. I stopped by the nearby Baskin Robbins in Sterling who was out of praline n cream and butter pecan. So, we drove a little further to Cold Stone. There was a line but we decided to wait. It was hotter INSIDE. Like i was clammy leaving the store. And so was my ice cream. I ordered the Cheesecake Fantasy but it didn't live up to the name unfortunately. The taste was right but the consistency was off. My guess is that their AC went out because my Like It waffle bowl was soupy. I know this isn't the norm, but I need CS to do better. I ate some of the solid parts then tossed the soup away. I ordered and paid for 2 "Love it" (medium size) creations. The one was made properly the second not so much. They prepared the food correctly, but in a small size bowl. To make you think the order was correct they put the small bow inside a medium size one. I didn't realize it was the incorrect size until hours later when I began to eat it. I've been to this location several times and since my first visit, I never left as a happy camper. I believe in second chances but they just keep giving me reasons not to come back. Every time I've been to this location, my signature ice cream is never made right with the correct amount of ingredient. I sometimes have to order extra of the same topping because they are greedy with it. I always get Our strawberry blonde, and each time, when they mix it, they don't chop up the ingredients properly, 2-3 mashup and they scoop it right up and put it in a cup. i end up having to bite through big chunks of frozen strawberries, uncrushed graham crackers, and other toppings. I specified for more chopping, but she didn't budge. In addition to my recent visit(today) the employee who attended to me just came out straight from the back, asked what i want and picked up the utensils, she didn't wear gloves. to make matters worse, when she made a mess or her fingers caught a food item, she wipes it on her apron. she did this at least 4 times. I got very irritated, and when she grab a cover to cover my order, she used her bare hands, touching the inside of the cover and all. i ended up throwing the ice cream away because of what i witnessed. $10.59 and 20min drive gone down the drain. Management, 1. PLEASE INFORM YOUR EMPLOYEES TO WEAR GLOVES AT ALL TIMES. 2. PLEASE INFORM YOUR EMPLOYEES TO HAVE A TOWEL HANDY FOR MESSYNESS IN THE PROCESS. 3. Took my girl friends daughter out for her birthday. We arrived at 3ish on Wednesday and there was no customers but the girls were working. I usually do not post complaints or bad review, but this was the worst experience I have ever had. If I could give zero stars, I would. The staff was very rude. They didn't have everything to make the orders but didn't bother to tell us before starting the order. They also did not make the correct size for one of our orders, slammed it on the counterstop and walked away. Some other staff was standing around talking with their friends while a lone of payong customers were waiting. Staff really just did not give AF. Trash piled up EVERYWHERE, inside and outside, including several tabletops; stained napkins flying everywhere. It was disguisting. We should have just left when we saw all that. read more

This is an amazing place for ice cream and cakes, their cakes are fantastic!, it is a little hidden but it's close to the theater and other restaurants. The environment it's pretty nice, not too many seat, but it doesn't feel small. They have many options for ice cream, doesn't matter the flavor, all their options are delicious. The attendants at the location denied knowing anything about offers or discounts, and when we show them the online ad, the cashier said that it required membership. We waited 20 minutes for the three girls running the place to serve the four people in front of us with one of them washing the tables outside or playing on her phone instead of helping with the line of more than 10 people waiting behind us. They had the WORST customer service ever! The person there took a while to be ready for me to order it took them quite some time. And when I finally pay for my ice cream, they said they won't take credit cards because their machine was broken! And there was NO sign that said that the credit card machine wasn't working! If he was uncomfortable with sharing his name, then why doesn't he feel my discomfort of giving my credit card number to him so he can supposedly call "another store" to charge it. I bought their voucher through groupon for $12 and this afternoon we went there. the voucher says 2 love size and 2 kids size with one mix for each. the cashier said no it is not like this. You can use it for $10 and after that u will pay for it. I insisted no it is not like this but as u know a teenager will win. zero customer service. at the end I asked her to give me back my printed coupon but she said I cant . Very inflexible. Not friendly. We are from Maryland. We bought coupons from Groupon without realizing that they are for this Sterling VA location. They did not say on Groupon that those were 3 separate coupons. Drove almost an hour to the store and they would not let us use more than one at a time. Manager came out and he was useless. Just told us we couldn't use more than 1 coupon even though we have 4 people. No wonder they have no business even on Father's Day Sunday. read more

We were in this location tonight after work and before we went to the grocery store. The kids wanted ice cream and I had a gift card and gave in. The girl in there was young and I didn't get her name but I wish I had she was incredibly sweet with the kids and that was much appreciated. She was so patient with the kids and let them all "sample" the flavor they wanted. The two and a half year old picked pistachio, so that was a bug help. After having the sample he decided against it! Haha. What a patient and helpful young lady she was and it made all the difference in our little visit. I had a couple pricing questions and she answered them and was very helpful. I told her "thank you so much for being so helpful and good with the kids." She said she loved kids and worked around them too. This place is lucky to have a person like that! read more

Lots of ice cream flavors to choose from. On the other hand, it's not as flavorful as you would expect. They do tend to be generous. To me, you seem to be getting more than what you think you're getting, because they fill beyond the rim of the cup and build it to a "mountain" or a "mound". The price that you pay is a little bit ridiculous to me. Employees are all young people, high schoolers probably. They act as one team, always chat, etc. Most of them are nice and say "HI, welcome to coldstone" but you will occasionally get one or two that are either having a bad day or just are dissatisfied with their job, and will act ho-hum. read more
