This is a good place to satisfy a sweet tooth. Staff aren't always the friendliest. I asked for a lid to for my ice cream cup and it was apparently an inconvenience. Ditto for asking for a napkin--their container was empty and the worker haphazardly threw some into the container and walked away. read more

Was craving some ice cream at night and tried our cold stone after SO LONG! The store was enforcing social distancing and the staff was wearing masks, which was awesome. Due to Covid, they were also not doing any sampling of their ice cream unfortunately. I love Cold Stone! I love ice cream in general but I like watching the employees mix all my toppings in. I don't have any complaints. This Cold Stone Creamery is one of the few ice cream places close to/on campus that doesn't involve crossing the bridge to get into Lafayette proper. The other being Silver Spoon and Greyhouse Coffee (Red Mango and Dairy Queen serve yogurt and soft serve respectively). Located on Wabash Landing, this Cold Stone is combined with a Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory so that you get two kinds of (chain) dessert places in one. Not to mention that both of those are connected to the pretzel place next door. Coming from San Jose, I'm pretty familiar with the first two. But for this West Lafayette one, I've honestly only had it a few times as I'm usually home in the summer when you'd want it the most. Rather, throughout college, I usually went to the Rocky Mountain in order to get 4 or 5 caramel apples to eat at home throughout the week. If I DID get Cold Stone, it was usually because a friend or friends wanted to. Part of this is because it's located in a very convenient spot. Again, it's in Wabash Landing, which means it's in that passing location for everybody wanting to come in and out of the campus from Lafayette. Like LaTea, it's one of those places that you can quickly pick up a pre-or post- movie snack, get dessert at after a meal at one of the many nearby restaurants, is close to Tapawingo Park, is in an area where a lot of people like to bike or run around during the summer, and is one of the most immediate things guests from the Hilton and the Hampton will see. Additionally, it's one of the most major and convenient dessert places for those who are settle in the Panera Bread or Starbucks to study. Before, it was almost right next door to Starbucks, where you had a bunch of people studying. Now, Starbucks is kind of in the middle of Cold Stone and Silver Spoon, if still slightly closer to Cold Stone. Frankly speaking, I like Cold Stone, but actually prefer Silver Spoon's selection and flavor. Additionally, the cleanliness of Cold Stone is a bit so-so and I find that my ice cream is usually a bit more melted than what I'm used to from going to some of their other branches. I maybe think they may need to work on adjusting the temperature and humidity somewhere (in the store or in the freezer). I've also found that their customization and numerous, already decided combination "signatures" is pretty appealing to picky friends as well as friends who are in the mood for something a bit extra. Plus, again, apples. There's also the benefit of them selling all different kinds of ice cream cakes and cupcakes and other such desserts that makes it convenient for when I need to pick up something last minute for a celebration of some sort. The immediate Wabash Landing parking lot tends to get a bit crowded, especially on weekends. I was happy to see that, after all that rennovation along State, they also have street parking now! Additionally, there's that parking garage behind the Hilton (go down Tapawingo) or the much larger lot behind Wabash Landing and across the theater. Inside, Cold Stone has a couple tables tucked into the alcove in the corner, and sometimes they'll have it in the foyer area. They're all a bit small, and the table and setting inside or out isn't actually ideal for larger groups or families, especially those that have a stroller or wheelchair. There simply isn't room for either inside. But on the nicer days when they have some tables outside, there's a bit more space if you don't mind the foot traffic. Overall, it's really just meant for you to pick up and continue on your way. In summary, it's a dessert place that's convenient for family and groups of friends during a day out, when you're passing by, to sneak into the theater, or after a meal in the immediate area. It's alright overall, not that different from any of their other chains, and honestly? You don't have many other choices besides this, Silver Spoon, or ice cream you may or may not have in your freezer. read more

Ugh. Don't go here. Just go to Silver Dipper across the street, or drive to Lafayette to get one. Compared to other Cold Stone locations, this one is the worst. Their ice creams are always half-melted and service is the worst of the worst. There were two people working around 7 PM on Wed, and those two workers were absolutely rude. I like the ice cream here but I always feel a little guilty at the extra work involved in serving up the usual orders takes. I know they're not making much money, and it looks so labor intensive. If I could rate more than five stars I would!! My friend's birthday was today and after a not-so-subtle interrogation, I found out her all-time favorite dessert was mint ice cream cake. So I research places around her that sell them and find this place. I live in South Carolina so I had to order it and have it delivered remotely. Service was the absolute best! Talked to the manager himself and he was so helpful, got everything done and figured out so smoothly in no time at all. He said they didn't normally deliver themselves, that they do it through third party services, but he offered to drive it to her place personally at the time I requested to save me the hassle! Then he called as soon as he dropped it off to let me know it made it there. Such polite, accommodating service as this is rare. Oh, and heard back from the friend and got pics, cake looked great and she said it was delicious. Thank you so much Cold Stone! Cold Stone Creamery is an ice cream parlor that sells cakes and candies. They specialize in using a "cold stone" technique in which they mix together ice cream, and a variety of goodies of your choosing - cookie dough, oreo crumbles, gummy bears, toffee, etc are all common choices. LOCATION: This Cold Stone Creamery is located in Wabash Landing, which means parking around the peak meal hours is going to be a nightmare. The interior is fairly small with only two or three tables inside. There is a freezer containing an assortment of premade cakes, pies, etc inside. STAFF: They're as friendly as you can expect low-wage employees to be! TASTE: The ice cream is absolutely delicious. Designing your own flavor concoction can be a fun and adventurous experience: gummy bears, almonds, brownies, nerds and cookie dough couldn't possibly all mix together well... or could they? The standard cones are great, but the ice cream cakes are even better. I order the signature "coffee house crunch" cake at least twice a year, and it's always a big hit among friends and relatives. OTHER THOUGHTS: Due to the nature of the establishment - with the choices and the scooping, and the mixing, etc etc... it can take several minutes to herd customers through the line. On one occasion I waited 15 minutes, and there were only 2 people in front of me! Also, I've noticed that the store's telephone ringer is turned off. If I want to order a cake or something, I have to leave a message. Overall, Cold Stone Creamery is definitely worth a visit if you're in the mood for something cold, sweat, and gooey. I order my birth day cake at Cold stone I ask about something very simple and they come out with a Horrible bday cake , I understand is not a cake store but if they offer this services it should be more professional . if you want a Birth Day cake this is def not the place. Went in to get some ice cream at around 2 in the afternoon, no one was visible so I said "is anyone there?" No one answered so I waited 3-4 minutes and said it again, this time an extremely rude worker came out and yelled rudely, "I'll be with you in a minute!" So I left and went to go somewhere else. I have never been to a Cold Stone Creamery before going to this one so I had no idea what to expect. There were so many flavors of ice cream, smoothies, and slushies to choose from. When we entered, we didn't know if anyone was there. We stood there for a good five minutes before a woman walked out from the back, they should probably invest in a door alarm or wind chime that lets them know when people enter and leave the facility. The woman working wasn't friendly at all. At that point, I still didn't know what I wanted but the person I was with knew what they were getting, so they ordered first as I was still reading the menu. She asked if there was anything else she could get for us as I am still looking at the menu and she asks rudely again after only 20 seconds. I hope not all Cold Stone Creameries are serviced like this one - I know you can't judge a few because of one so I am hoping I have a better experience whenever I decide to go to another.
