    Tacos al pastor

I am so glad we came across this restaurant while visiting Purdue University. My family and I love Mexican food and my teenage daughter is a al Pastor fan. She rated theirs right up there with some of the best we have had in Mexico. Perfectly seasoned. With chunks of pineapple. Great ice cream too.

Amazing lil hidden Mexican spot with unusual variety of quality traditional and predictable menu items, sadly didn't get the time for dinner even though heard great things on the tacos here so can assume it's a proper feast for hitting dinner, really surprised at the ice cream! Unusual and sublime original tubs of Hispanic creations, Mexican cake, chocolate, tequila, and many interesting looking options with bright fun colors displayed in the usual lineup of kid friendly glass. I was excited to get some samples, both the cake with it's treat of red fruity ooze painting the yellow ice cream and the plain white looking tequila made for instant addictions and entirely more flavor forward sugar fixes than any other, right up there with Silver Dipper! We had a gang of over 12 celebrating a birthday party, most of the kids went for the mangollada, couple tried basic ice cream in cones and chocolate shakes, I panicked from excessive options and settled on horchatta. Interestingly the chocolate shakes were not really shakes at all but a fun blend of cocoa syrup and maybe condensed milk. No complaints even from the hardcore boys used to Culver's and DQ! There is such a fun and bright atmosphere here that invites all to enjoy new culture and taste alternative ingredients. We were all treated well and enjoyed talking with two behind the counter who were super friendly and easy going. Can highly recommend!

This hole in the wall is a great treat! I've never had any Mexican desserts so went here with the goal of trying out Mexican ice-cream. Ended up getting a Mangonada AND Esquites. Definitely very different. The mango ice cream in the mangonada was super yum, creamy, and fresh! And the Esquites definitely had a kick. I've heard they have great tacos too, so will be going back for that :)

You can't dine in but take out is available. The tacos are seasoned perfectly and the portions are more than enough. Their aguas frescas are made to order so they are always fresh and delicious. Try the agua de sandia, you will not regret it. Their homemade paletas and ice cream are tasty and they have unique flavors. One of my new faves is fresa y vainilla---it's like a Mexican creamsicle but with strawberry. Lastly, the owners are super sweet. Call ahead and order since everything is made fresh, it could be a bit of a wait (but definitely worth it!).

This is hands down the best place in Lafayette. The food is delicious, the ice cream is so good, but above all that the people are great. They are so friendly and they are willing to modify anything for you. Example, I love empanadas and especially their empanadas locas, I asked one time if it was possible to get them but without frying them. Sure enough they were able to get me the filling in smaller tortillas. Another example, I like to get the escamocha which is a huge bowl of fresh fruit that is covered in crema, but one day (10 pounds later) I decided I want to have it without the cream. Sure enough I get the beautiful bowl of fresh cut fruit with no cream. The reason I appreciate all that is because I've been to all type of restaurants around here and I don't dare to change a thing. I usually would get the "we can't do that", "we don't do that", "that will be extra but also not the way you want it". Bottom line, best place and best people ever . The best coconut ice cream too can't forget to say that.

Went there for the first time today with a friend because they have this special where it is $1 Taco on Fridays. They had chicken, beef, and pork tacos and it comes with a mild sauce and a hot sauce with some limes. I would said these are better tacos than you would get at Taco Bell. It is also freshly cooked. They also have various flavor of ice cream and drinks to serve. I tried this mix with a mix of ice cream, semi-sour sauce, and chill pepper...which is fair...depending on your taste, though I would say the sour sauce kind of drown the taste of the ice cream.

The fish was good but the rice was a little bland

The waitress was very nice but I didn't get a milk shake like I had ordered I had gotta chocolate mink

    Empanadas and tostadas, half eaten.

Friendly and delicious. The absolute best empanadas ever -- I ate all three in the order, then I am sad when they are gone.

I LOVED the restaurant that occupied that space years ago, Adelino's, but it was a totally different type of cuisine, so I didn't go into it comparing the two. The ambiance was great. I loved the way they'd revamped and utilized the space. Our server was attentive initially, but after we'd put in an order for an appetizer and told her we needed a minute to look things over, it took forever for her to come back to take our orders. We didn't see her much after that either. The food wasn't worth the price in my opinion. The queso dip was good, but I feel like you should get more than you do for $10. My boyfriend loved the cheesy birria tacos, but I was less happy with mine. The meat in my tacos was barely lukewarm when they got to the table, which was weird to me; even when I get shrimp tacos elsewhere (when the shrimp isn't fried), the shrimp is at least warm. The fish taco was better than the shrimp taco, but you can get far superior tacos for cheaper at other restaurants around town. We both ordered a Paloma and found them to be very tequila forward and not as effervescent as they should have been; we were expecting carbonation but couldn't taste any bubbles (and barely any grapefruit) at all. I enjoyed it more than he did though. Overall, we're pretty sure Nom Nom is a one and done for us, which is a shame, because we'd heard great things and went into it with high expectations. But for almost $80, the food and service we received just weren't up to par.

We were traveling from…read moreAppleton, Wi to North Carolina and wanted to find a nice place for a fun meal before stopping for the evening. Normally I list the positives and negatives, but I really didn't have anything negative to say. Ambiance - one word... FUN!!! It's well decorated and just a lively atmosphere. Bright lights but also decor of a Mexican temple. They had fun, vibrant almost Latin Club music playing so it was upbeat and lively. Service - the service was great. I had seen some reviews complaining but we had nothing to complain about. On a Saturday night at 7:30 we were seated immediately. The waiter took drink orders, came back to get food orders, and checked on us throughout our visit. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. Food - probably some of the best Mexican food I've had!! The chips. - nice and thick and crisp. Could have used more salt but I know many places allow people to salt to their own taste. Homemade Hot Sauce - great flavor and a good amount of heat. I really enjoyed it. Ribeye Tacos - delicious. The onions and jalapeños were cooked perfectly. Even the rice was some of the best I had. Highly recommend putting some of the house hot sauce on it. Pastor street tacos - another delicious dish. The combination of the pastor and pineapples with cilantro and onion was perfect. Fajita Salad - had a bite of my daughter's food and it too was good. A good combination of vegetables and meat that I would consider for next time. Overall I would love to stop back here another time if I'm passing through Lafayette. If you haven't tried them, I highly recommend you do!!
