First of all, that coffee shop is really cute. When I went there, I liked the look of it and their teas were pretty good. However, I cannot recommend ordering food there. I am a vegetarian and have several food allergies. I ordered a vegetarian burrito at the cash register. I waited for my food, and after it arrived I confirmed with the guy handing over my food that it is for sure the vegetarian burrito I ordered. Starting to eat my burrito, it was definitely a meat burrito that I did not order. I consumed half of the burrito and starting to realize it was not the burrito I ordered. As a consequence, I felt sick all day not able to eat food. They apologized for it; but I think mistakes like that are absolutely not supposed to happen. Serving a vegetarian a meat burrito after confirming if it is the right burrito should definitely not happen. I won't be going there again. read more

This was a neat little shop. We stopped here for breakfast before heading out of town. The food was good. I think we all had wraps or sandwiches. The coffee was good and the smoothies were great too. It was a little pricey for the amount of food but that was ok because the quality was great. Why the 4 stars? Well my wife had asked for her BLT to be dry meaning no mayo or dressing. What did they do? They put Mayo on it. Apparently, it also comes with avocado. They did not tell us that they were out of Avocado but we heard others complaining about it and that is how we found out before our food arrived. Avocado is usually an upcharge so when you pay for a sandwich that is supposed to have it and they don't have any, they should offer a discount even it is small. It is just the principle. Or make the $1 cup of coffee free for the inconvenience. That was one issue. The other was when my wife asked to return the sandwich, they didn't ask her why and just seen the sandwich and said "look, there is no avocado what do you want me to do?" My wife said "I want you to give me a sandwich without mayo since that is what I asked for. I didn't say anything about the avocado." The manager / owner / whoever he was gave her attitude from the start and was just a dickhead with a Napoleon complex. Because of that, I won't return. The food wasn't good enough, or large enough, to put up with that bullshit. read more

It makes perfect sense that a new Colectivo location would open up in this section of the Third Ward, though I imagine they'll be facing some pretty stiff competition from the more unique coffee shops in the area. This location is small and well designed with a few small tables and high tops inside. The entire north wall is made of garage doors that can open up to St. Paul Ave and the Public Market. Aside from the usual menu of baked goods, sandwiches, soups, and coffee is a small beer selection. Colectivo has partnered with a local brewery (not sure which, sorry!) to make a few signature craft brews. Beer is not yet at most of their locations so take advantage of it when you have the chance. The go-to for me is their coffee stout, which seems to make the most sense all things considered. Strong coffee, Strong beer. Be careful before you order something from their pastry box though. Last time I was there the case was FULL of fruit flies. It was gross but I'm willing to give Colectivo a mulligan on that one. read more

I'm a coffee snob. Self-admitted, and okay with that. So I can can get amazing coffee almost anywhere, so friendliness and customer service always makes or breaks a place. They were so friendly from start to finish and the customer service was excellent. The other patrons were also friendly and down to earth. The decor was so awesome- but I'm a sucker for rustic, industrial, homey vibes. Absolutely recommend this location. I love the coffee and the food but going to this location was a very bad experience for me yesterday. First, after having a bad day already I had to listen to some obnoxiously bad/LOUD singing coming from the barista as I waited for my food. I overheard people sitting at a table say, "I can't concentrate here with all of this singing", got up and left. While waiting for my food with my coworker, he decides to walk by and say that we are a "matching couple" and that we are "so cute together". Without having the chance to explain that we are coworkers he already walked to the other end of the store singing. As we got our food and we're walking out the door, he yells from across the store "bye cute matching couple! Oh you're so cute, yeah, very cute you both cute matching couple". This is one of my favorite coffee shops and it has a true neighborhood feel. People who come here smile and say hello to anyone. The coffee shop has a trendy yet cozy vibe. I love how quiet it is inside. The tea selection is great and the talented baristas make beautiful designs on your coffee or hot chocolate. It is a charming addition. I ended up here every single day at least once on a recent trip to Milwaukee. This is almost a 5 star joint to me - the only thing keeping me from that rating is that I do think the coffee could be better, and the Americano I tried was not mind blowing. That said, the service is fabulous, the food is awesome, and the atmosphere is really pleasant. I especially liked the peanut butter banana muffin, the veggie breakfast burrito with pesto, and the cheesy biscuit. Okay, the cheesy biscuit was practically life-changing. Loved this place. We were wandering around looking for a place for brunch that didn't have a 45-60 minute wait on Sunday (i ask again, why is no reservations accepted ever needed?!!?) and luckily passed by Colectivo. Coffee was excellent and had a really extensive cafe-style menu with TONS of amazing vegetarian options. We had the veggie sausage biscuit and pesto veg wrap, an iced coffee and a Brazilian pour-over. All the doors/windows were open making for an excellent open air vibe inside the shop, and you could sit and look out over the bustling Pubic Market and people watch. And - the branding of their coffees was super cool. Highly reccomended if you are in the area and want a quick but super wonderful B, L or Brunch! read more

Far overrated. Coffee was burnt and bitter. The salmon scramble had a hint of salmon in it but was otherwise tasteless and mushy. The staff was friendly but confessed when we asked if they had any gluten-free options that they didn't really offer any. I was craving some coffee yesterday afternoon when me and my friend decided to go on Yelp and find a place with good reviews. Our initial choice was Bella's but while we were driving we saw this little gem. This spot has a great environment and awesome mocha shakes. I asked the worker what they recommend and I wasn't disappointed. I got the mocha shake and the vegetarian pesto burrito and it was amazing. Vegetarian and made with locally owned products? What more can I really ask for then a friendly staff.. And that's exactly what we got. The only problem we had is they forgot one of our burritos. If you want a smoothie in under 30 mins this is NOT the place for you. Went to Collectivo with my friend today as we were visiting from Chicago for the weekend. I had told him that I hadn't been in a while and was excited to go. He ordered a black coffee and I ordered a smoothie. When we went in there were people sitting with drinks already in hand and there were only two patrons in front of us in line. We placed our order and my friend got his black coffee soon after we ordered. I know smoothies usually take longer to make so I expected to wait 10 mins as there were only two orders ahead of mine. About five mins after we ordered there was a rush of patrons. I get it when a rush like this happens I used to work at Starbucks and before then a Jamba Juice on a college campus. So I get it, I do. But waiting over 30 mins for a smoothie is just ridiculous!! I kindly asked a male staff member who wore glasses and was bald if he could see about my smoothie. I was kind and thinking maybe my ticket had accidentally gotten lost in the mix of the rush. He was VERY rude and told me "yeah that's what happens when there's a lot of people" GET OVER YOURSELF! I walked out with my friend. The absolute WORST Collectivo and coffee shop! I will happily take my business else where. Sad because I was excited to visit their new Chicago location, but instead will tell my friends to pass! read more
