One of the best cafes (possibly the best?) in Milwaukee, hands down. I'm so happy we have a place like discourse in Milwaukee area. The drinks are unique and delightful, so well thought out. There is Such a unique concept on every drink and I've never had a bad experience here. The friends I've brought here from out of town still talk about how great the drinks from here are. The location is hip, open, and connected to the radio Milwaukee station. The lattes come out looking like beautiful works of art. Service is pretty standard/normal for a busy cafe. Drinks are pricy for lattes but worth it for the quality. I have no qualms about paying as I feel I am getting every penny's worth of enjoyment from my drink. About once a month they stay open late night and feature specialty drinks to go along with an artist and songs from their Catalog. I haven't been yet, but am excited to try! read more

This place is very cute and cozy. They have many coffee options with different syrup flavors. You can get iced or cold coffee. Matcha and teas are also available. The service is quick and I didn't have to wait long considering how busy the place was. They also serve food though I didn't get any. read more

I always like to try new cafes and coffee shops; you never know what hidden gems you'll find, like one that has a few vegan options on their menu. Unfortunately, Discourse in the Radio 88.9 building didn't seem to have anything I could order food-wise looking at their menu on the boards overhead, but I was able to get a Lana Del Fog drink, which was very good. My boyfriend liked his drink and bakery (he's not vegan), but since I can't eat here, it's unlikely we'll be back. Inside, the place was cute, we had comfortable seats on the couch, and the wait time for our drinks was about the same as at other large coffee shops in the area. Love Discourse coffee! A short walk from my apartment, I love a morning when I get the chance to walk and enjoy a delicious beverage. It can be busy on the weekends, so just be ware and be patient. I love their drink The Pappy. Discourse is one of my favorite coffee shops in Milwaukee. It's a great place to work during the day. Their menu is filled with craft coffee drinks and gourmet food options. Everything is very unique and so much thought is put into the flavors on their menu. I highly recommending checking out their seasonal grilled cheese, even if it doesn't sound like something you'd like - try it! The flavors just work. I always get either a tea or matcha latte. I loved the presentation of the matcha this time around with the lavender! The baristas are always friendly. Sometimes the drinks take a bit longer to make, especially on a busy weekend. Six of us came here on a recent Saturday morning. We were lucky to grab one side of a long table. The place was busy with a friendly vibe. The coffees we had (and one mocha) were delicious and delightful. We sat down and they called out our names (after a little bit of a wait). But the wait was worth it. Also, it was a little hard to hear them call our name - we were talking, folks on the other end of the table were talking, as well as others - and thankfully someone in our group was paying attention and did hear it. There are games on some shelves and we picked up Cribbage and played while we sipped our drinks. And let me tell you - the drinks were yummy. We ordered the following: "What Winter Brought," "Peppermint Mocha," "Channel Orange", and two "Moon Waters." Because we all wanted to sample each other's drinks we each got a sip of the others to taste, and there wasn't one I didn't like. The photos of the drinks are below - except for Channel Orange which was in a unique cup, unfortunately I can't remember which one is which! But don't they all look appetizing with the lovely swirls and desings? I don't know what the vibe is like on a working day (one of the members in our group does come here to work on weekdays). If you were wanting a quiet place to work on a Saturday morning, this might not be the right spot for you on a Saturday. This is a great spot to meet a friend or hang out with some friends. One business snowy morning, I waited for my latte to be ready. Even though it was a longer wait - lots of people ahead of me, the time flew by as I watched the baristas move in this magical symphony as they made drinks. They didn't seem to hate their job - it was like watching art being created. I love all the curated lattes. There is nothing else that can come close to what is being served at Discourse. Discourse is an independent coffee shop tucked between the MSOE buildings in the heart of downtown Milwaukee. Entrance is hard to find, but ask anyone and they will point you in the right direction. We got a few drinks: espresso was great, maple bourbon latte was strong and sweet, Columbia pour over honestly tasted artificial with the strength of the blueberry taste. Nothing short of an amazing experience. The Barista whom I spoke to was well knowledgeable and helpful. This is def a more luxury feel for coffee and Tea. My all time favorite is The Flora which is a coffee made with rose water I believe. Naturally sweet, like k think anybody who like Starbucks could enjoy it too if that's makes sense. The presentation made me melt, served in a flower shaped cup on a saucer in a mute pink served with a lavender sprig and dried rose on top it was nothing short of enticing! Then! The seating is so cool! Zen gardens underneith glass as coffee tables and high top tables ! The space is a lot bigger than downtown, and they have a section of vinyls for purchase. They also serve food here in addition to their usual pastries (my current obsession is the orange blossom almond croissant). I ordered the Lana Del Fog, and I'm still thinking about it. I liked this place quite a lot. The drinks were pretty fancy--they have the standard drink menu, but they also have some nice special "craft" items. I got my standard chai and it was great, and the Pappy for my SO. I don't know what bourbon essence is but the drink was reportedly great so they're doing something right. The staff were nice and the shop was beautiful. There was tons of seating here. I will admit, though, that the drinks are kind of expensive; if I lived in Milwaukee, it probably wouldn't be my everyday place for a cup. This is what dreams are made of. First time visit and it was amazing! My husband and I got two very different drinks. I can't recall what his was named but it had maple/bourbon flavoring. Been here a few times. And have always been impressed with the helpful/professional service, and the quality of the beverages and food. The main entrance is at the corner. And then the order counter is right there. Plenty of windows and natural light. The menu board is center, and up high. Easy to read. They also have some hard copy menus. It's a relatively efficient setup. There are a couple of different areas for seating. The counter behind the baristas, the high tops along the south wall, and the back area with different tables/chairs configurations. (I wish they had a bit more seating in the back areas, perhaps putting some smaller table up again the garage doors) Usually show up on Saturday mornings. Got there this morning with a short line to the counter. There isn't a well established procedure for the line inside, so very often the line ends up out the door and onto the sidewalk. The baristas always seem to greet you with a genuine smile and patient service. Today I had another great service experience, with a personal recommendation on the pastry (thanks Vaughn - great job!). he menus are very unique. They have the usual offering, but you can also get some crazy sounding lattes. Today, I got the London Del Fog (their version of a London Fog). I asked for a china mug (no problem), and it was perfectly exquisite. It paired perfectly with a Chocolate Guava Croissant. (I did wish that they had Scones on the menu, but then I would not have the pleasure of the Croissant). The place can go from mildly busy to jam packed with standing room only in a matter of minutes. Which also means that quiet casual conversations can turn into, leaning in to listen and using your outdoor voice. Overall great venue, with super professional baristas and staff. This is one of my all-time favorite Milwaukee coffee shops, and honestly it's hard to compete with. All of their coffee. Coffee drinks are so beautifully crafted and consistent every single time you order. They are an absolute work of art. Their unique flavors and tastes encourage you to try a different one every time, but also pull you back from strain from the ones that you know and love. A couple of my favorites are the lavender latte as well as the orange black sea salt. I think what also makes this place so unique is the beautiful pottery that coffee is served in. I LOVE discourse!!! It was recommended to me by an acquaintance and I'm so glad I checked it out! The place is very open and spacious, and they have outdoor seating. The baristas are all very nice and helpful when ordering. I am obsessed with the cereal milk and citrus croissant. The last time I went, they didn't have it, so I really hope it's not discontinued. The channel orange latte is so good. I tried the moon latte which is also popular, but I didn't like it as much as the channel orange. the parisian....my favorite!!! I love a good coffee shop especially somewhere with experimental options. Some places that say they make "experimental coffee" don't hit the mark but this place does. I got the flora coffee which has lavender honey, rose water, lemon powder, and salt. It was a prefect cup of coffee. The barista was also super helpful as I was in between the flora and Parisian. They knew the perfect questions to ask to help me with my decision. My husband also was deciding between two options and they were helpful to him as well. For food I got a simple croissant while my husband got the caprese sandwich which he enjoyed. The overall look and feel of the coffee shop gave a cozy industrial vibe. It was clean and had plenty of options for seating. We arrived at 9 on a Saturday morning and it started to get busy around 10am and was almost a packed house. The place was crowded (standing room only) and came with a 30 minute wait for our two specialty drinks and breakfast sandwiches (which we were warned it would be in a to go container only). The drinks were delicious, both like nothing we've had anywhere else. The sanwiches were delicious as well. It was fabulous watching the crew work their magic. They also serve sandwiches (also pricey). In addition there are boozy drinks like Carajillo and Manhattans, making it a very unique spot to hang out and have a cocktail - but only open until 4:30 :( The outdoor space is large and features a cozy fireplace perfect for chilly days. Overall, its a warm and inviting atmosphere. This is a nice addition to the flourishing Milwaukee coffee scene. They have their own book on the subject (I love it). Every spot had incredible drinks and super-friendly staff. Easily some of the best coffee I've ever had. Now, about this location... it's a vibe, but be warned--it gets packed. We came by on a Saturday afternoon, and between the live music and the weekend crowd, we waited almost 40 minutes for a drink. That's longer than most brunch lines. If you've got time to chill with friends or want to soak up the atmosphere, it's a cool hangout spot. But if you're in a rush or only have 20 minutes to spare, this probably isn't the one. Plus, parking here? A bit of a nightmare. I've been meaning to stop in to the Radio Milwaukee Discourse location, and I finally did! The iced Channel Orange latte was perfect--espresso and milk with orange vanilla syrup and candied orange powder--and the barista recommended this. They were right, totally worth it! The chocolate chip cookie topped with flaky salt had great flavor, but it was a bit too dry for my liking. I prefer my cookies gooey and soft rather than crumbly, so I didn't feel it was worth the price. This might just be a personal preference, though! The space is super cozy with lots of natural light and vinyl from Lilliput, a local Milwaukee record shop, which I loved. My order came to around $15, and while the latte was worth every penny, the cookie wasn't, and I thought the 25-minute wait was a bit long for a coffee and cookie. Definitely come on a day you are looking to grab a craft coffee and hang out with a friend for a while. Note: I have also included a picture of the heirloom tomato toast my friend ordered. This place gets a 3 star becuase of my genorosity and desire for them to do well. I really wanted to love this coffee shop. I came from out of town and saw this place with glowing reviews, so why not check it out. I walk in to a confusing environment without a greeting and am told that me and my family are standing in the wrong place. Order my food and espresso from a barista who does not seem excited to be here. I got the avocado toast, which was fine for the price. I guess it's on me that i didnt know that "cured egg" was just egg yolk shavings. Esspresso was sour and lacking personality. I hope to see improvements in the future. read more

I loved this space when it was another local coffee shop and I love it even more now that's it's Discourse! Stopped by here on a recent Saturday morning. It's rightfully a popular spot. There's plenty of seating, though. In addition to tables and comfy chair seating, they have a bar along the windows with barstools. We were able to get a couple spots there. I ordered a croissant and one of their specialty lattes called moonwater. The moonwater is espresso, milk (we got oat milk), cinnamon, telicherry black pepper, and applewood smoked sea salt. If you're craving a savy drink- this is the place to go! Super extensive menu with fun ingredients that test the limits of your palate! The coffee I ordered was a traditional latte with orange bitters and smoked sea salt with a lemon rind garnish. Super unique but smooth! Like fall in a cup! I will note that the cup and saucer set was so adorable The tomato croissant was fresh and fluffy with big slices of heirloom tomato, crumbled feta and homemade chilli crisp!
