I have been to this spot I believe two other times when different restaurants were in this particular space but my last time here was my first time since Colibrí Mexican Kitchen has been here. It was an excellent return (to the space) and what a great meal we had here. It was such a pleasant and enjoyable dining experience that I am going to drop a five star score. Colibrí is Hummingbird in Spanish and we figured that out fairly quickly in addition to the signage and saw this particular bird. It's also one of our favorite birds that come around our house. We were pondering if we wanted appetizers but we held off and went straight to drinks and a meal when it came to ordering. I got the absolutely fantastic Enchiladas Colibrí with ground beef. This was a trio enchilada plate in which each enchilada is in different sauces. One has a green sauce, another a red sauce and another was in a molé sauce. All three enchiladas were absolutely delicious as well as all three of the sauces. Ingredients tasted fresh and the flavors had a great "personality " to them. It was a great choice to get. My plate also came with rice and beans. When it was put before me I was wondering if I was going to be able to eat it all but I did and was feeling just right. For dessert we had a great tasting flan. Whenever we are in a Mexican restaurant and a flan opportunity arises Steve often time seizes the opportunity to get an order. It too was quite good and a great finish to the meal. I also got their Cucumber Margarita which was very refreshing and the Cucumber essence was a great fit to the rest of the meal. The Tajín rim was a wonderful touch to the drink. Very, very good meal and nice, friendly service gives Colibrí a five star score with ease. read more

Located within chophouse row the spot is so cute and quaint. I went here for Seattle restaurant week with a few girlfriends and it was such a pleasant meal. Food was delicious. I ended up getting the chips and guac, Carne Asada, and flan for dessert and a mocktail. The star of the show was our server. He was very friendly very attentive and gave us some great recommendations when we hesitated about what to order. It's also a very nice ambience small but you have large garage door windows to let in a lot of natural light and it's easy to walk throughout chophouse row to look at other businesses. read more

Unfortunately, this place was very mid for the premium prices they're charging. Both the burrito and tacos were watery, lacked flavor, and just didn't deliver the quality you'd expect at this price point. The location is fantastic and the restaurant has so much potential, but the food needs a serious upgrade to match the setting and the prices. read more

I almost don't want to review this restaurant, purely for selfish reasons. My lunch was really good. A little salty but fresh and presented well. Will be returning soon for sure. Omg! Our server Daniela is super cute, helpful and so kind!! We're visiting Seattle and by chance and due to starvation we stopped at this restaurant. We were hungry but since we're traveling we didn't want leftovers so we decided to share our meals. Enter, helpful Daniela. "We would like to share the FANTASTIC Tortilla soup, is that ok" "no problem" She brought us two bowls. "Can we share a fajita order?" "Sure, I'll bring you extra tortillas (two kinds cause he's a little bit country and I'm a little bit rock-n-roll). Four flour, and four corn came right up. Everything was delicious, and plenty. Really tasty meal! We went for Seattle Restaurant Week and got 3 courses for $35, which is an amazing deal in seattle. Since I was with another person, we got one of each app on the special menu - guacamole and queso. Both were delicious but the queso was unreal! For the main course I got the chicken mole and it was spicy and delicious! Would get again. The flan for dessert was super good. Overall delicious meal and I'd go again! Read about this new opening (just two weeks ago!) in the old Plum Restaurant space, and it didn't disappoint! With the front garage doors open in the summer warmth, Colibri is perfect for people watching on 12th Ave while sipping a gorgeously made margarita (hint: try the weekly special margarita!). The food was comforting, like the family-run Mexican-American restaurants you remember as a kid, with both the verde and roja sauces adding a welcome kick to each dish (hint: on some plates you can order all three - roja, verde, and mole). The service was excellent -- attentive and personal -- something of a rarity, it feels, on the Hill lately. I will definitely be coming back to check out the DAILY (yes, even weekends!) 3-6pm happy hour, which looks to have fantastic food and margarita specials. The guacamole is outstanding and difficult not to just make that the meal. The atmosphere was nice , clean and up to date. Great place to stop in for a business meter date night. Also had the veg fajitas and was excellent. Came to the table hot and lit up the room with the mouth water aroma. Definitely coming back for more. Next time trying the Mar Y Tierra. Saw that go by a couple of times (think they do that on purpose :P .... ). And can't go wrong on any of their margaritas! The last few weeks, I have had Mexican food at least 5 days a week. I love Mexican food and try to check out new places as soon as possible. Ironically, we passed this place last week on our way to another Mexican restaurant, so a subtle reminder that any restaurant could be right underneath your nose without you knowing. Without a solid website, it's hard to tell what's going on here. We wanted to try happy hour, but no details were online, so we had to call for hours and just assumed they served food. They did, they had a limited menu, and we tried a few items. First we had Chips and Salsa, At $7, it was overpriced, especially when the portion was small, but I will say, the chips were served hot and that is something I have only seen a couple of times in my entire life. The salsa was flavorful and had bite, so it's clear these people are making authentic recipes. We also had the Taquitos. The 4 small pieces equaled the size of what I would consider a single taquito, but it was an A+ on flavor. I'll also say, at $7.50, it's not a deal, just a much smaller portion of a menu item. Last, we also had the chicken street tacos. Decent but not as much flavor as I expected. Honestly, I wouldn't do it again. One issue that remains is the rice, I would love to return for a full meal, but the rice appears to be infested with peas, carrots and other veggies. I hate this and I think there is a reason most restaurants don't do this. If we do return, we'll ask about the rice. Everyone else dining while we were there had happy hour items as well, so we couldn't see rice coming out of the kitchen. I'd give the food a solid A, however price and portion are both a D. Service was friendly, but very slow. Our server flat out disappeared, and we didn't see him for more than 10 minutes and what's worse is we were his only customer. There were two servers and two tables, by the time we left more people showed up, but even then, it was 4 tables. No excuse for the service not to be more attentive. Ill be honest, based on this, we didn't tip well. You have to provide service and the same way some hand out 5-star reviews, we tip based on service and this place came up short. No one was rude, they just acted like they didn't care we were there. I think you will find something on the menu you really love, but if you consider price and portion, you will certainly question why the portion was so small or why you are paying $7 for a starter everyone gives you for free. The website says parking is validated. There is a public garage across the street,but we parked on the street which was complete luck. You may want to call ahead about parking. I assume that is the garage you use, but the website doesn't have details and we didn't ask the person we spoke with when we called ahead, because they appeared to struggle with English. Improve the service and value of what you serve and you will be in that 4-5 star range. Chicken, rice and beans should always be affordable. read more

Great new family woman owned Mexican restaurant on 12th in Capitol Hill. Great flavors, everything was made to order and was very fresh. Portions were good. Look. I'm not saying their chicken soup cured my Covid. But I'm also not NOT saying that, ya know? I'm one of those annoying Southern California transplants that likes to go around complaining that "there's basically no good Mexican food on the hill" but I am so happy to say that I can no longer say that. This place opened up near where I live & I checked it out a little over a week ago and I've ordered takeout from them twice since & gone in person once. (So, wreaking havoc on my food budget, but I just can't stay away! And felt the need to spread the good word, especially since I can't figure out how to tip on Doordash takeout orders...) The food is absolutely fantastic, the portions are generous, and the service is great--it's rare to go to a place where everyone seems to genuinely working where they do, and either that's true of this staff here or they just do a hell of a job pretending to. So far I've tried the churros, tacos, enchiladas, and the caldo de pollo soup. Would order all again. Haven't tried any of the bigger-ticket items yet, but at some point I'll drag a friend or 2 in for a special occasion & we'll give 'em a try.
