I can't believe how many times I've driven past Colibri Grill Café before finally stopping in -- but I'm so glad I did. I went in craving a Benedict and ordered the bacon, tomato, avocado Benedict (no tomato), and it was absolutely amazing. The chipotle hollandaise has the perfect little kick -- flavorful and slightly smoky without overpowering the dish. The bacon was perfectly crisp, and the hash browns were golden and crunchy just the way they should be. Every bite felt thoughtful and well executed. This is officially my new favorite breakfast spot, and the fact that it's only a few minutes from home makes it even better. On top of the great food, the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Perfectly cooked Rib Eye Steak with a delicious chipotle compound butter that I asked for on the side, so I could put some on each bite. The veggies were so fresh and tasty! The potatoes has been roasted on all sides of each piece. I used the butter on the potatoes, too. The salad that came first was very nice and I ate all of it! I wish they would serve those wonderful potatoes for breakfast, too, because I really loved them. My steak was a perfect medium rare AND hot. What more can you ask for? I've been wanting to try this place for a while and I finally stopped by on a Tuesday. Upon arrival we were greeted by one of the servers. We were quickly sat, given menus and greeted by the server. When we first walked in it seemed very quiet but when we were sat there was a couple tables dining in. I got a coffee and my boyfriend went with a soda. The coffee was good. I went with the 2 egg breakfast with apple sausage and a biscuit as my bread option, I am so glad I did. The eggs were cooked perfectly (soft), the chicken apple sausage was tasty, the biscuit was soft and the hashbrowns were crispy. Stopped by this unassuming cafe while waiting for my car to be serviced. Based on reviews, had to try the pear and coffee pancake which was amazing and huge. Today's my birthday and I wanted to try something new. I had a particular craving for steak and eggs. We've had Colibrí on our radar for a while but have never been. When I saw they offered a steak and egg breakfast, we decided to give it a shot. The interior of the restaurant is very odd. Dark, depressing vibe with painted red walls and outdated decor. Today is 86° but it felt like they had the heater running. No way we could stay seated inside so we asked to switch to their outdoor seating in the front of the restaurant. Honestly wasn't much better but at least we had a bit of a breeze. Service was a little slow but they were very nice. My husband ordered their country plate which came with biscuits and gravy, sausage, bacon, eggs, and hashbrowns (home fries was an option as well). We were surprised when the plate arrived and only had one slice of bacon and one egg (there were two sausages). My husband said his biscuit tasted off- like old oil or something. He enjoyed the other parts of his meal. I ordered the New York steak (specifically requested medium rare) and over-easy eggs. My meal also included home fries, fruit, and toast. My steak was the most pitiful excuse for a piece of meat. It was very thin, cooked way past well done, and was 60% fat. The potatoes were good and my eggs were cooked as requested. This place is kind of out of our way so we probably won't be back given the meal we experienced today. Service was nice so I don't mean to dock any points for that- they deserve 5 stars. A quiet breakfast experience with a delicious chicken cutlet and soft waffles with a little less sweetness which I like as it makes the syrup stand out. They had super thick syrup which I liked a lot. The chicken cutlet was not dry at all which I was so happy about because white meat can dry out if you look at it wrong. Such a good meal. My husband had the pancakes and I actually got a bite even though he had to finish my plate but the pancakes were spongy and delicious and held the syrup well. I enjoyed how secluded our seat was from others, low lit inside with pretty wooded accents and low volume. The staff was attentive and even offered us more syrup. This is probably because the cut was very thin. Literally about 1/3 or more of the steak was fat. I had the Country Plate which was okay. The biscuits had a really strange flavor that almost tased like old oil or wax. I was surprised there was only one piece of bacon and one egg. Colibri has been recommended to us several times now. Even from friends who say they drive up from Rohnert Park just to eat here and go back home. We stopped by for my birthday breakfast since it was on a Tuesday and would most likely be slow. As we predicted, it was! It was nice not to have to deal with a weekend rush while experiencing Colibri for the first time. The first thing I noticed was their prices. They seem a lot higher than some of our other favorite breakfast spots. Due to that, we only ordered one plate each instead of ordering a few things to share. I ordered the eggs benedict and Dan ordered the hot link benedict. Dan said it was the best benedict he's ever had (and we LOVE benedicts). I thought mine was just okay. I would like to come back and try more of the dishes. The cheese thing sounded amazing but sweet. The pancake options also had my mouth watering. As for the spot itself, it seems to have a little bit of an identity crisis. I'm not sure what vibe it's trying for cause there are so many things going on. The menu is all over the place, not really a specialized menu. The decor is interesting and some of the decorations looks like things purchased after a lodge style place closed. I advocated for this place with everyone I knew. I tipped well, and went out of my way to support by putting it out there to everyone in Sonoma County. I've given the owner chef a few bottles of wine. Then I ordered a couple steaks, a Ribeye and Filet. They were worse than Sizzler chewy steaks on a bad day! I did what I tell everyone to do before writing a bad review!! Call them and give them a chance to make it better. We all make mistakes. So I called and left several messages, contacted them through Facebook and their email countless times- he was trying very hard to avoid me. I was in the mood for BBQ but ending up getting one of their daily specials ( Steak & Lobster). Steak was cooked as ordered & the lobster was perfect served with a very tasty cream sauce. Our server Octavio was efficient, friendly & attentive. The strip mall could use some outside lighting, with a cloudy winter night the whole mall looked like it was closed but that is a landlord issue. Everyone loved what they got and a lot of homemade items including the jam, biscuits, and the ciabatta roll for the cheesesteak. Deeply upset with the overall experience. Very average (waffle was dry and awful, burnt bacon) food, at an extremely high price. The service was subpar, and they upcharge on everything. Very difficult to understand the server. A single egg provided with a combo meal, then they charge 1.50 extra because you get an egg. What a scam. The combo meal was already excessively expensive for a basic meal. I very rarely rate negatively, but for this price tag I expected something somewhat decent. Though disappointed there weren't solid Vegan ones, and very limited vegetarian, so one of our dietary restricted friends couldn't enjoy a full meal (upon request staff wasn't aware if their tofu scramble was vegan, but have no fear- they survived on french fries and fruit side dishes) ... Main plates were classic diner food that filled everyone up! Service: Unfortunately service with a smile wasn't on the menu. Our server gave off some serious "I don't want to be here and I don't want you to be here either" vibes and our water glasses went dry in the first 10 minutes and stayed that way for the remainder of our stay. Well, Colibri didn't get the memo. To say that Colibi offers a lot of different options would be a big understatement. Here you can find everything from your traditional American breakfast, bbq, Southern inspirations, burgers, Mexican and even Greek! And they nail wash and every dish to perfection! Colibi is the perfect spot for a group with varied tastes or if you're just wanting to explore something new. They serve both breakfast and lunch and there's a rumor they will be opening for dinner as well. On our road trip to the Charles Schultz Museum we drove the furthest north I've ever gone. I wanted to find a local place and try the bbq. Yelp led me to Colibri Grill Cafe. Baby back ribs were tender and had a nice smoky aroma and flavor. I found out they were smoked with walnut wood. Nice chef let me take a look at his smoker. Ribs were coated in a homemade sauce with sweet and tangy flavors. Reminds me of the ribs at Izzy's Cafe. I had a full rack which is enough for 2 people and I gave half to my kid. She loved the ribs too. I didn't try any sides but Maggie and my kid loved the garlic mashed potatoes. Waitress was nice answering all my questions and providing speedy service. We enjoyed our lunch here as well as the 15 minute drive from the Charles Schultz Museum. It's autumn and the leaves are turning brown and covering the lawns. I don't experience the seasons much as it seems like summer most of the year in San Diego. Also I'm by luxury apartment towers and office buildings.
