Looking to check out The presidio on Friday night we settled on Colibri. Being in the Presidio makes for a nice atmosphere, and the cocktails and guacamole were easily the highlights of the meal. I ordered the carnitas. The pork was tender and crispy and the guajillo and árbol chile salsa added a little heat this came served with corn tortillas and rice My wife ordered the filet mignon, which was topped with an ancho chile stuffed with seasoned goat cheese and finished with a chipotle sauce. She ordered medium rare and it was a little bit over but she liked it. Unfortunately, the service really hurt the experience. We wanted to order another round of drinks, but our server never came back. When we were ready to leave, we waited several minutes for the check and eventually had to flag someone down so we could pay. The food was decent, but not enough to make up for the lack of service. There are too many good dining options in San Francisco to spend an evening waiting around for basic attention. Glad we tried it, but it's not a place I'll be returning to.

We came in on a nice Saturday and the restaurant was really lively. We were able to make a same-day reservation without too much trouble, but it was definitely busy, so I'm glad we did. We started with a guacamole bowl for the table and a few drinks. Service was friendly and prompt throughout. Our group ordered a mix of enchiladas, tacos, and some brunch items, and everyone was really impressed with their meals. I had the carnitas tacos (listed as an appetizer, so a bit smaller), but they still came with a generous amount of meat and fresh toppings. I added some salsa from the chips to give them an extra kick They also have nice outdoor seating, and it's within walking distance to views of the bridge and the presidio lawn. Overall, it's a cute spot with great food!

We stumbled upon this gem while hanging out at the Presidio. I thought our only food options were the food trucks near the Parade Ground and boy was I wrong. I had the Tacos De Pescado (didn't realize the fish was fried; I should have read better) and the Ensalada Mixta. The salad was crispy, crunchy, fresh and had a great tangy dressing. The fish taco topped with a very good coleslaw. Before our entree we had homemade corn tortillas and a trio of salsas. The seasonings were on point and service was great. Very happy with our surprise find of a restaurant.

We were there for a wedding brunch buffet. Great food and drinks, and the inside ambiance plus ample outside patio space were excellent. Given the special event and full seating for regular customers outside, I'm not too worried about the occasional slow drink service. We clearly made them extra busy and it was good to see that they didn't neglect the folks outside. We could have easily flagged down a server to get an order in if it was that important. I loved how many spicy versions of cocktails there were alongside the long list of standard ones. Nice variety in the buffet style meal, with plenty of both meat and vegetarian options. The churros were the biggest hit.

This spot is wonderful. Great food, great ambiance, a hard working staff, and parking!! We came here with a group of 7 and it was awesome. Highly recommend

I Had a chance to try Colibri with the hubs today and this was a nice experience. This spot is located in the Presidio area which is very nice and beautiful with views of the Golden Gate Bridge. A 10-15 minute walk down there is also a beautiful park with gorgeous views from this area as well. The ambiance of this restaurant is very nice and service was also fairly attentive. For food we tried: * Queso fundido with chorizo and mushrooms - this came with 4 corn tortillas and if you are a fan of cheesy goodness this is a good dish. I loved the flavor of the chorizo which was really nice * Chicken enchiladas - I got this with the red chipotle sauce and I really liked them. They come in a batch of 3 with lots of sauce and a generous filling * Chile relleno with carnitas - This was a stuffed poblano chili with carnitas and chicharones and came with a black bean sauce purée thing on the bottom. Overall I enjoyed this as it was quite flavorful, although a tad bit on the spicier side. Overall we were stuffed and also enjoyed the complimentary chips and sauces. We had a good time!

Beautiful location in the Presidio but the food and service was mid. The apps were better than the mains. Took a while for someone to come over to take orders, and had to ask to put in drinks, ask for chip refills etc. 1/2 of our entrees came out almost 10 mins before the other half. The portion size relative to price on the mains like the carnitas and pulpo was disappointing. Super tiny side of rice with the carnitas. Chile relleno filling flavor was okay, but the chile itself was under seasoned and watery. They could also use some additional heaters on the patio for the larger tables. Relative to spots like Elena's in the city this just misses the mark.

Ambiance 5/5, beautiful inside and out (great space heaters if you choose to sit outside) Cocktails 5/5 - fun, favorable Service 4/5- good but not spectacular Highly recommend booking reservations on resy.com It was a lively vibrant place. Friends loved it and would come back again. We came here as a party of 14, and loved the tremendous amount of parking available. The place was beautiful and the restaurant was packed. For our party they had a private room where it consisted half of our party and the other half of a few other smaller tables. Service for the most part was good but they forgot to give us utensils and napkins and somehow only provided it to only one person at the table. Not a huge deal but took a while for everyone to get utensils even after a lot of the food was coming out. Can't tell if it's understaffed for how busy the restaurant is - but seems to be a common theme. Place was huge and every single table was taken. Loved the large selection of food for everyone and the food was so good! My personal favorite was the duck. Not overcooked and super flavorful and chills relleno and the octopus. The choice of dishware was super cute, fun, and festive! Their cocktails did not taste strong-but sure did have a good amount of alcohol- I left feeling tipsy. Drinks tasted really good and always a must for me at a restaurant. The only dish I would maybe possibly skip was the ceviche, didn't necessary pop for me. Overall we had a great time!

After all the holiday fuss wait on me please.... In the pouring rain we made our way up 19th and was it worth the mess? Every minute. The margaritas "house" with a bit of kick and just enough salt were absolutely welcomed and delicious. The guacamole was made in the serving area chunky fresh and full of lime.... The thin chips were perfect to complement. The grilled corn cannot be skipped period. Full of flavor grilled, butter, chili, lime and a hint of cheese. Well worth the $8. Split to share. The grilled fish tacos were fresh and filling with purple cabbage. The mango salsa which came with the chips put a hint of sweetness. I was in heaven and getting very full by the 2nd taco.. 3 in all on house made tortillas. Pork tacos were as well tender and sweet. 3 tacos to a dish were just enough. Service was expectable and we wanted for nothing. The servers were very busy at 3pm after a holiday. Atmosphere was so cozy and warm. We will be back to work our way thru the menu. Don't miss out...

What a pleasant find.. While attending an event at the Palace of Fine Arts we were quickly looking for somewhere to eat beforehand and we're surprised to find this gem in the Presidio just minutes away. The restaurant has a cute vibe that reminded me a lot of Mexico City. We arrived around 11 AM on a Sunday and we're sat immediately. Our server was attentive, and friendly, offering appetizer & entrée suggestions. The menu had so many good options we decided to share everything. The Panuchos de cochinita pibil and Queso fundido con Chorizo were perfect starters.. We both were eyeing the Panque de Elote (sweet mexican corn cake) so we had to order that. It came last which was the perfect ending to a delicious brunch.

This is certainly a beautiful setting. Old military officers club. The look is spanish revival. Nice outdoor seating on a nice day. Business plan is ridiculous. Ever pay for a refill of Ice Tea, House Coffee? Tiny side of rice and beans for 8 bucks each? Get real. Service for me is the biggest problem. Nice enough waiters although they are forced to pitch the adds. Food came out quickly. However, it was not hot. C'mon guys

A hidden Mexican gem in the presidio! With parking! Amazing atmosphere ( can get a bit loud inside), decor, and service. Absolutely stellar food! We enjoyed the pork tostada appetizer, catch of the day, chicken mole, street corn, zucchini, mango crème brulee cheesecake and the fresh from fryer churros! Everything was fresh and lovely and well paced. Looking forward to coming back on another occasion to see what other things they can bring to their menu.

El Colibrí Mexican Cuisine Absolutely loved this place! The food, drinks, and staff were all amazing. Everything we tried was full of flavor and fresh. The cochinita pibil was tender and perfectly seasoned, the ceviche enchiladas were unique and delicious, and the guacamole was fresh and so tasty. The drinks were just as good, and the staff made the whole experience even better with their friendly and attentive service. Highly recommend if you're looking for great Mexican food and a fun atmosphere. Will definitely be coming back !!!

So rice and beans are ala carte?

Some dishes come with rice or beans (or both, like the Carne Asada for example), but yes we also offer rice and beans a-la-carte!

Do they not have frozen margaritas? Thanks

No but what they offer are delicious and we were not disappointed what so ever.

    Pet Friendly on the patio?

When we went the first time, in the Presidio location, my friend brought her little dog and there was no issue. Of course we ate outside on their lovely patio. It was at lunchtime.

What are there hours today for Cinco de Mayo?

Hello! We are open normal hours until 9 pm tonight. Hope to see you!

Is this place still open? I tried to call the number and it said the number was out of order.

They are very open. Number must have changed.

What are the happy hour hours?

Colibri happy hour time is M-F - 3pm-6pm...cheers!

    How much for bottomless mimosas?

Sorry, don't remember. But please trust me when I say ALL the other drinks and ALL the food are worth the price. Definitely don't go there just for mimosas.

We've been on a Friday around 5pm on another day, it wasn't as busy, so definitely a great place to start and maybe end the night. In a time where craft cocktails have gotten really expensive, Bar Darling offers craft cocktails (their signature cocktails) all for $14 each. Drinks had almost a "watered down" flavor to them, not sure if the bartender was just having an off night or if they got too busy to maintain standards or what happened, but it wasn't a good beverage and certainly not worth the price. Even at 7pm it was packed and could definitely tell people had been there for awhile as there were multiple 20 something year old guys and gals stumbling around, so I guess they found the drinks to their liking (or more likely had so many they really couldn't ascertain the difference). Better drinks and better crowd control and Darling will be just fine. But as I mentioned, they were already packed stem to stern at 7pm so my guess is they're doing just fine already.

The person who states "This is most likely the best restaurant in the world" has to be beyond sheltered; It's not even the best restaurant in the _neighborhood_. The main thing you must understand: the food is "inspired" by Indian food, but it does _not_ taste like Indian food. I suspect its been intentionally watered down to be palatable to milquetoast palettes. We ordered three small plates and the butter chicken as the main. Chicken Tikka Taco. This was greasy to the touch, with chicken and cheese. The dominate flavor is the cheddar cheese. They were trying to be creative but the ultimate effect was similar to a frozen burrito with cheddar cheese and chile verde. If you eat this, close your eyes and imagine a microwaved, frozen burrito..you'll see what I mean. Tandoori Avocado. This features an avocado that's been warmed and covered in a chili sauce. There's a green hummus and a fried dosa crisp. While it sounds wild, once the flavors are mixed together on the plate...the overall effect is that of a green-goddess salad. It's not bad, but its not mind bending. Octopus Xec Xec. The octopous was was cooked nicely and there was a tomato based sauce. Unlike something you'd find in India, it is _not_ heavy on the spices, or tang, or nuttiness. It's just very _neutral_. Butter Chicken. This was the biggest disappointment. I've never had a butter chicken curry that tasted so close to tomato soup in my life. I've eaten tons of butter chicken in my life, hundreds of Indian restaurants. I cannot imagine this was not an intentional choice...It was extremely disappointing. Also, the choice to use chicken breast was poor. Inevitably you get overcooked, chewy chicken pieces. They must have chosen this because (like Disneyland) sometimes you water things down to make it more popular with less adventurous people. The customers next to us (not Indian) kept slathering it on their rice and saying "I can't believe I didn't use to like Indian food!" -- that told me all I needed to know. BTW the naan is insanely bad. They stretched it very thin and then crisped it to the point that it breaks like a cracker. In what world is naan not pillowy and soft? Personally, I was really disappointed with this experience -- the other reviews on yelp are absolute insanity IMO. I know there's a hype train right now -- but someday people will realize this place is not it.
