We did a team dinner at The Patio and I felt like it left so much to be desired. For one, we came on the early side for dinner (but at the time of our reservation), and they didn't have a table ready for us and even offered us a place to sit outside around a fire pit even though we had come to dinner. It was kind of strange but I overlooked it. So we got a proper table and our menus and yet, even though there was only one other couple sitting in the back, it took forever for our server to help us. When he finally came back to take our order, we ended up giving him our entire order for drinks, apps and food cause we were starving (he didn't come to take our order until 30-40 min after we sat down). Then when the food came, it didn't come coursed out at all. The mains came before the shared appetizers. The oysters came out midway through our meal. It was all just kind of a mess. I ordered a burger medium and it was mostly pink through the entire burger and had little to no salt in it - there was no flavor! The restaurant has a puzzling ambiance. Plush couches adorn the interior, with the sparse titular "patio" at the back. On the patio, the heat didn't reach every seat leaving parts of the table chilly. Unfortunately, the food seemed to follow the standard set by the furnshings, and was equally mediocre. The short rib was a touch overcooked, though the mashed potatoes it sat upon were lovely. The mac and cheese had a delicious blend of cheeses, but the pasta was too ordinary. The fried chicken that sat upon it was also plain. Service was the bright spot. Our server was warm, gracious, and patient with our large group. For a big dinner group where seating and service matter most, the restaurant has its advantages. But overall I wouldn't give it a recommendation. read more

We came for a late brunch on a Saturday. There is a nice back patio with outdoor seating and it was very low key. Service was attentive and friendly. I ordered the chilaquiles and added avocado. The tortilla chips were very handmade and tasted fresh. I enjoyed the dish, but there were not many toppings, so wish there would have been some more fresh aspects beyond limited cilantro. We hosted a baby shower here today [late August.] We live across the country so we leaned heavily on manager Val Diaz: Val was absolutely outstanding helping us plan everything from just the right amount of space, to menu, drinks, and timing. She suggested 20~30 guests would be most comfortable reserving part of the patio, not including the fire pit, and it was exactly the right decision. With her help we had a terrific menu everyone enjoyed, taking care to accommodate a food allergy and a wide range of tastes from vegan to excellent cheese burgers. Ruben, the bartender and server paced the food perfectly over 3 hours so everyone felt well fed, never rushed. Guests all got a kick out of Oreo the sweet neighborhood cat who's adopted the restaurant. Oreo unobtrusively kept watch over us :) and gently mingled with guests. The space was remarkably nice with comfortable seating, shade from direct sun, powerful space heaters for SF's unpredictable August temps, and perfect amount of light when the sun came out. I came into the city for an event at the Palace of Fine Arts, and wanted to grab some food nearby before the show. We stumbled upon this cute little restaurant and had a great time! It was kinda early so it was pretty empty and was very easy to get a table out back. The patio was so cute and had lots of greenery and (thankfully) heaters as well! The service was pretty good but as more people started showing up, definitely started slowing down a bit. We started with some drinks, I got the Princess Tree Paloma, which was very good! My partner got a glass of their happy hour white wine, which he also enjoyed! For my entree I got the burger which came on a toasted brioche bun, with cheddar, caramelized onion and added bacon. It was yummy and very filling. My partner got the fried chicken sandwich, which was also very good. It came with lettuce, coleslaw, and spicy sriracha mayo. We were seated at very low tables that you'd find at a club, so you're almost hunched over while eating. I think the food is really good, my partner and I shared the Mac and Cheese with Fried Chicken, The Short Rib and the Steak Frites. I think other members in our party thought that the sauce for the steak was a little too salty, but otherwise delicious. The portion sizes I would say were a bit on the smaller size, besides the mac and cheese which was quite generous. For such a large party though the service was extremely fast. read more

When you first enter the restaurant, it's dark and smallish, then you realize there is a whole other section when you turn the corner. And then down another hallway, there is another cozy section, further down there is a doorway out to the cozy outdoor patio. The patio is covered so you are protected from the elements. The outdoor space is stylishly decorated with overhead heat lamps in just the right places to keep you toasty. The drinks were perfectly balanced. So much so, that we went a few rounds!! My companion is a vegan so I had to limit myself to vegan options. Even so, their menu did not disappoint!! Service was just the right level of attentive. This is now our new spot when visiting San Fran! Yesterday we celebrated a wedding with our closest friends and family and reserved the outside patio in advance and all the staff were amazing and went above & beyond! The food and drinks were delicious! We had family style dinner that included short rib, salad, Mac & cheese, meatballs and a signature margarita named after the bride. I would highly recommend celebrating any special occasions here including birthdays as they have a beautiful space inside & out for everyone to enjoy. We came here before our comedy show and had an early evening reservation, although there weren't many people when we got there, there were various parties coming in while we were seated. There's a variety of seating areas including middle tables in a room, sofas and a patio area, and tables out front, and a bar area, which is nice. We ordered steak and fries, sweet potato soup, and avocado soup with our lemonade and wine. My partner said his steak was fine but a little on the smaller side, and so he wished he had ordered more phone. His fries were fresh and crispy. The sweet potato soup was nice and warm, which was perfect on a rainy evening. And the avocado toast was also good, but a little bit more citrusy that I would have liked. If you are considering The Patio as your reception after your city hall wedding, just book them! We have ZERO regrets! Val and her team were amaziiiinnnnnggg! The space was PERFECT and reasonable for our group of 60 people. We were able to rent the entire restaurant, have our own curated menu, and name our 3 signature cocktails. Between the inside and outside of the restaurant the place was PERFECT. Plenty of seating for those that wanted to seat and plenty of room for those that wanted to dance. The food was DELICIOUS. We had the calamari, salad, chicken sliders, burger sliders, meatballs, and braised short ribs (which we literally think about to this day). If we could do the day all over again we would! They allowed us to hire our own DJ IG: _iamcastle_ (hip hop and R&B) and bring in our own cake IG: sweetsbyarlette. We didn't feel the need to decorate since the restaurant itself was beautiful. We ordered the indigo aviation and mezcal mojito, both very good. Very friendly service but it wasn't that busy of a Tuesday night, and I think they forgot to get our food order. We had to hunt them down and I saw tables that came in later than us ordering ahead of us. Pretty much everyone opted to sit in the back patio, which has heat lamps available if it gets too cold. We arrived a little after 5pm. We sat in the back on their patio. It's really nice space with plants and heat lamps. There's a cute neighborhood cat that hangs out. We shared a bottle of red Malbec wine that was delicious. It was 30% off happy hour prices. We also had the avocado toast(covered in paprika so there was no fresh coolness of avocado), roasted vegetables(sour and soggy vinegary), and an order of fries needs more ketchup or sauce of any kind). All of these were happy hour menu items. It was pretty empty when we arrived and only another two people sat outside when we were there. It's such a large space that it did seem odd how spaced out it was and empty. This would make a great spot for a private event in the spring or summer, but since it's January, it's not ideal. The heat lamps helped but people probably want the cozy inside. I wish the food was fresh and original. My problem with the menu is the cocktail item called Rosemary's Baby which is a concoction made with maraschino cherry, pomegranate, and mezcal. It is named after the horror movie so it just makes no sense. Stick with wine. read more

It took me a full week to finally figure out what to say about this restaurant. And still I am at a loss of words. My wedding day took place at SF City and a we booked a private event at The Patio for our reception. We definitely chose the best reception place! The food was amazing, carefully crafted and savory. Our guests could not stop talking about the Mac & cheese bites, meatballs, lamb lollipops and more. The drink selection was excellent and we even got to rename some signature drinks with our dog's names and our new last name (Lady's Spicy Margarita, Totoro's Cosmo and Opolentisima Fashion). The wine selection was A1 (especially the whites were so crisp and juicy). The ambiance alone was what sold us. Such a laid back and elegant style of dining. There's a full bar inside and a small bar outside in the patio with an inviting fire pit set up with a wrap around bench for everyone to sit together and enjoy. The restaurant was decorated with Xmas trees, ornaments and garlands. We were allowed to decorate it more and enhance the beauty further. It felt like we were walking into a Christmas party! Thanks to my bestfriend for bringing Santa hats we turned it into our own Santa Con. The service my goodness: Val, Mike and Ruben you guys are such a delight to work with and be around. Thank you for always making us feel welcomed and appreciated. We appreciate you guys so much for being accommodating and helping us plan our wedding reception. From letting us do food & drink taste testings, letting us store our wedding cake in your fridge the night before and decorating the night before. My partner and I were looking for a venue for a welcome party the day before our wedding, and we're so glad we found The Patio. Our event had about 45 attendees and the back patio was the perfect size. It had plenty of room for people to mingle in small groups without feeling crowded. The fire pit was perfect for a late summer evening. All the employees at The Patio were very attentive in answering questions and adjusting the heaters and music. Val was incredibly helpful in guiding us through the process, helping us choose the food and drinks, and finalizing all the other details via email. She was also super helpful during the event itself. The back patio had its own bar just for our event and the bartender Ricardo was excellent. The drinks were fantastic and there were plenty of options both for mixed drinks and beer/wine. We also kept getting comments from people all night about how good the food was! Visited for friends gathering and we had a good time here. The sever was very friendly and the service was good. However the height of the table and the sofa/ chairs were off, so it was really hard to sit and eat at the table inside. The sofa adjacent to the walls were higher than the other sofa across the table so people sitting at the sofa were looking down to the people across the table and the table was too low so everyones back were hurting when were leaving. Also the lights were flashing the whole time, not a huge deal but it kinda bothered all of us. Nothing really special about the food. The steak was over cooked. won't go to this place for food. I only wish I hadn't been in a food coma when I went. The staff at The Patio is so genuinely attentive and kind. I'm sure our group of four must've stuck out like a sore thumb. What do you get when you have a Greek woman, an Italian man, a French man, and a Hispanic woman together? A whole lot of language mix-ups as everyone in this group is at least bilingual and we conversed mainly in French. I mention this as the gentleman who attended us actually tried to strike up conversation and get to know us and from that make recommendations as to what to order. That's impressive honestly! We had a seafood hater, two people starving, and one person who was stuffed to the brim and freezing. For those curious, I was that last one. Anyhow, he took all these things into account and everything we ordered was downright delicious. Among the plates ordered were avocado toast, truffle fries, calamari, and tuna tartare. In fact, the calamari and tuna tartare were so raved about that the starving two people got two sets of each. As for the avocado toast and truffle fries, I had a bit of both. Fresh and tasty. My companion ended up ordering some other plate after this with meat, I forget which, but I didn't partake. I was legitimately freezing and ordered coffee. Imagine my surprise when the coffee came out in a Le Creuset French press. We're getting fancy now. This and a bite of the chocolate dessert (whose texture I didn't like but everyone else loved) made for a nice finish. Everyone was very happy with this place. Again, I only wish I hadn't gone while being in a food coma, but honestly if they can handle me at my worst, then they deserve me at my best. I wanted to find an outdoor dining spot because I had my pup with me and their outback patio was so spacious and had a lot of shade due to the trees and umbrellas. The service was great, they even brought out a bowl of water for my pup since it was a hot day. I really appreciate when servers take care of my pup too. The food and drinks were delicious.
