Filet Mignon with mushrooms, baked potato and garlic toast for $37.95

I honestly wish I could give more than 5 stars.. this is one of the most underestimated restaurants in the city in my opinion. We were looking for somewhere to go for our anniversary. We love steak, but wanted to try something other than The Keg and Chop, which are kind of the standards for us. Coliseum has been around forever - I think I probably went there when I was younger, but definitely not in a long time. When you walk in, you're transported back to the steak houses of the 80s. Not much has changed inside over the decades. But everything is clean and well organized. Service was incredibly friendly. Our server seemed like she had been working in restaurants for a long time. She never wrote anything down, but quite clearly knew what she was doing, and got everything exactly right. Food came out of the kitchen hot and quick. Steaks were cooked PERFECTLY. Honestly, I think it was the best steak I've ever had. Everything was seasoned so well, and I love that they still do the old style condiment caddy for the baked potato toppings. Prices are very reasonable for the quality you get. Drinks were tasty and overall it was an incredibly enjoyable evening. I can't wait to go back!

Gluten Free Option available I'm pretty sure my family visited this restaurant when I was a kid, but I had never visited as an adult, but that changed 18DEC2023. My husband and I went for dinner. The menu doesn't list what options are gluten-free, but our waitress was more than happy to check with the kitchen what was "safe" for me. I got the House Special 8 oz Top Sirlion and subbed a baked potato for the spaghetti and a Greek salad for the garden salad and obviously skipped the garlic toast being a Celiac I dded Mushrooms. It was a perfect medium. We will definitely be back. The decor seems like it hasn't changed since they opened, but I was there for the food, not the looks.

I've been eyeing this place up for quite awhile now, every time I drive past I wondered about it. We had a lovely server and we were a bit pinched for time but at 8pm on a a Thursday there was plenty of open seating and the service was incredibly fast! We ordered the ribs and shrimp as well as the calamari salad. The salad was super neat with a Greek salad and calamari with tasty taziki! And the portion was great! The ribs came out way faster than we anticipated but they were very good and interestingly it came with some cut up bread instead of fries. Prices were about average for what I would expect and the menu would be a good fit for a family dinner out kind of place.

I'm surprised I've never heard of this place until recently. However location is not ideal for me since I live on the other side of the city. This place offers cozy comfort food for a reasonable price. The portions are big and food was delicious. I ordered the house special steak with mushrooms on top. For around $26, it came with steak grilled to your liking, pasta, salad and garlic toast. I was so full afterwards and it was a very satisfying meal. This is a great place to go if you're hungry and want a good old fashioned hearty meal.

This pizza and steak joint has been around since the early 80's.. the decor hasnt changed much, so it's like stepping back in time. Service is super friendly and place has an ambiance that's warm and inviting. They had a New York steak special tonight with buttered mushrooms which came out nicely seasoned and comparable in execution to high end steakhouses. I swapped out the side of fries/baked potato with spaghetti and homemade meat sauce for my toddler who made quick of messy work of it lol! Thr side of clam chowder was tasty and had a good handful of clams in it. We also went with the Coliseum special pizza (added pineapple for the toddler) which was a nice thick crust pizza loaded with toppings. Its solid tasty fare and combined with the friendly staff, it's easy to see why this place has been around for 40years.

I'm always on the lookout for a good pizza place and since we were headed to the Eskimos/Riders game, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to check this place out! When we arrived it was PACKED, but thankfully we didn't have to wait (at all). The restaurant is quite large and there were a lot of Saskatchewan Roughrider fans (myself included) enjoying a meal before the game. I ordered a coffee and we got a large 3 meat pizza. Unfortunately with it being so busy, my coffee cup sat empty for awhile. The pizza arrive in a reasonable amount of time, fresh from the oven & piping hot. The pizza was very good, no complaints! I loved the chewy crust with the crispy/cheese edge. There were a decent amount of toppings, tasty sauce and lots of cheese. Perfect. Our waitress was extremely busy, but took the time to compliment my Rider jersey and apologized for being so busy. She was very sweet and was clearly busting her ass to trying to do a good job. While we were waiting for our food I saw a lot of delicious food coming from the kitchen. The steak & shrimp looked delish! We definitely plan on returning to try a few other items on the menu!

We had the duck with risotto, truffle fries, pan seared salmon, and the homemade mac & cheese with chicken breast. All were excellent. Our server recommended a couples drink combo which consisted of the following: For him - Maple Old Fashioned: Bearface Triple Oak Canadian whisky, maple syrup, and Angostura bitters. For her - A savory-sweet mix of Ojo de Tigre Mezcal, passion fruit liqueur, blood orange syrup, lime juice, and a black salt rim. It was awesome. The hotel had an amazing gym facility and pool. I easily spent two hours in the gym as there was a variety of activities. Also, the decor was absolutely divine. We got seated at our table and then we waited...and waited...and waited... So the manager came by and asked us if we need anything and I replied, "Yeah a server." Apparently there was a mix up with communication and whose table was whose. It is gorgeous inside. Very sexy. Plush benches, silver tones, and blue lights. This would be a great place to be seen after a hockey game or something. Finally with our fixed menu in hand and some water. The manager asked us if we would like the wine paring for no extra charge. What a fabulous gift! We started out with the black truffle and brie aranchini. This is super rich and flavourful. Great texture on the outside and creamy goodness on the inside. My husband and I got one of each of the salads - Wedge and Ceasar. The portions were massive, so I am glad I got the wedge. I could pack it up and it was fresh and crisp the next day. Dressings on both of them were excellent I got the black sesame ahi tuna and my husband got the petite filet. Both were excellent but if I wanted to finish dessert I would have to get this packed for home. Finaly onto dessert my husband got the chocolate peanut butter bar, while I went with the strawberry pavlova. Both were fine, but the peanut butter bar was super rich. The wine pairings were excellent. Great place, even better when you have a super deal.

It was a bit too much for me, but we can't all like the same things. I think the staff might have recommended we not order two mashed potatoes, but otherwise service was sufficient and relatively attentive. Attention was given to my gf dietary needs, but no attempt at a gluten free bread was made, as has been done a similar high end establishments. Our waitress nearly gave our meal to another table, but fortunately was intercepted by another server. We arrived at 5:30 and got our meals at about 7:00. The ambiance was reminiscent of a high end pizza place- large marble topped tables to shout across. My lamb was a bit under done, but that was okay since I had allowed for that. I've had better lamb in my own home, but I admit I'm not a fan of char as the main flavour. It was very attractively plated and I liked most of the vegetables that shared the plate, excepting perhaps, one or two pieces of bitter greens. My two companions enjoyed their meals, both having ordered filet. The three of us wound up spending about $300.00, tip included.

I am please to say the food - which is always good, matched the service which this time was also good. We had a really great server. I like this type of menu where there was enough to choose from, but not to little to feel like you don't have a choice but not too much that it is hard to choose from all the selections. We split a bunch of menu items - steelhead crudo with Thai basil, citrus, chili, olive oil, apple bison tartare with tamari ginger vinaigrette, sesame, dashi cracker beets with goat cheese custard, pears, pistachio, tarragon vinaigrette tagliatelle, lamb sausage, smoked tomato, rapini polenta the posset and the chocolate dessert We also enjoyed a bottle of Merlot Food was excellent. The stand outs were the steelhead crudo and the beet salad. The steelhead crudo was beautiful and shining like jewels on the plate. And the beet salad was the same. I would highly recommend these two dishes. However, there wasn't a bad dish at all. I think that you won't go wrong here with the food.

Finally got to try Bundok last night, and while the food definitely lived up to the hype (for the…read moremost part, the steak was rubbery), we likely won't be back. Apparently Bundok was participating in downtown dining week and had a $65 dinner. We were never made aware of that. First impressions were...exceptionally poor. 1. It was LOUD. Like, had to routinely ask my dining partner to repeat themselves level loud for the entire meal. We were also greeted by the manager, who barely looked up and seemed quite annoyed, while waving us over to our table. I also sat at our table for well over 10 minutes before we were even acknowledged by our server. It's a very small space so this definitely stood out. My husband had time to go get something from the car, come back, browse the drink menu a few times and ask me if we wanted to leave before anyone came to talk to us. It was a busy night, sure but...I can't recall a time I've actually debated just leaving (and leaving a gift card behind) due to utter lack of service. When our server did come, she was quite lovely and did fantastic through the whole meal despite being new. This makes me wonder if the manager forgot to mention there was a new table. Food wise, we knew we had a gift card so we definitely wanted to use that up and then some. The drinks were...okay. Nothing notable and frankly the wine selection is better suited to the meal (their orange is lovely), but I can certainly see why Bundok has won awards for its menu. Every item, save for our striploin was delicious and perfectly prepared. The steak itself tasted like its prepared sous vide then seared, but was very rubbery in our case. Could have been that it wasn't fully to temp when seared. The black garlic sauce was nice, but overall, we could have done without that dish as a whole. If I look at the meal as a whole, removing the benefit of having a gift card, I wouldn't, and won't, be going back. Why? While the food IS wonderful, the price you'll pay (don't get me wrong, I have zero issue paying for an experience and good eats!) isn't necessarily worth poor service, and exceptionally loud (seriously, you're in a repurposed industrial loft that's supposed to feel intimate, the glass beside me was vibrating at some points) setting. This would be 2 stars and a non recommend, but the flavour of the food saved it. If you're fine with super loud and want an experience, give it a shot, but there are other places in the city that are far better for an intimate night out, have equal caliber food, and quite frankly, run laps around the service. While we're thankful for the opportunity, we'll happily pass on going back.
