I ordered a half dozen donuts through DoorDash and 3 of them were substituted for other varieties or flavors because the ones I requested were unavailable. Which is totally fine. The issue was the quality. The items that were substituted tasted old and stale. I was very disappointed in the mochi donut which was supposed to be light and chewy but was incredibly tough and doughy. I don't think I will be trying them again in the future. read more

Still, when I saw that College Coffee & Donuts had a bunch of them....I just had to try one. I bought one Taro Mochi donut. It was not chewy, but I did not taste any taro flavor either. Despite the lack of taro flavor, I liked the taste and texture of this Mochi donut. 4 stars! Bought two other donuts as well. A Banana flavored cake donut and a Boston Creme donut. Not everyday that you find a banana flavored donut. I did not really taste the banana, but I liked the cake donut. So 4 stars for this donut too. The Boston Creme donut tasted good. The lack of custard inside the donut results in a 3.5 star rating from me. Overall, I think this donut shop is pretty darn cool. I really like the assortment of donuts they make. There were so many different kinds of donuts available. Many flavors that I've never seen anywhere else at Bakersfield donut shops. They have something for everyone here. I don't get in the mood for donuts often but a couple weeks ago I was doing training at work that started at 6am and being up so early made me want a donut. I hit up College a couple times that week and tried a few donuts from the selection. The New York Apple is freakin delicious and their custard filled (my personal favorite) has a ton of filling, more than the average donut place. Walked in and it was empty ( typically whenever I do it is). Which I think is crazy because every time I have their donuts they are delicious. This time I tried the mochi donuts. Love the texture of them. Very airy and perfect amount of chewy. The icings are good as well. Perfect addition to my breakfast sandwich (not pictured or bought here). This review is for their second location on 5330 Olive Drive, College Smoothies and Donuts. I went in with my husband Saturday afternoon and there was a good selection available. We saw crossiants, square croissant donuts, cake, bars, some cute cookies, apple fritters, glazed, and so on. They have jelly filled, but we got the last raspberry. They also have donut holes, smoothies, coffees, and a fridge full of soda, iced tea, milk, etc. We took a dozen donut holes and 6 donuts home. The square croissant donut I picked was flakey with plenty of sweet cream cheese filling inside and a chocolate drizzle on the top. The raspberry filled donut and claw did not have as much filling, but were fluffy and soft. The chocolate buttermilk bar was fresh as well. They had special flavored cake donuts like banana bread and red velvet cake, as well. The donuts are individually priced around $1.99-$2.99 each, but they do throw in another donut and take $2 off the price when you buy a dozen. I've been coming to College Coffee and Donuts since as long as I can remember. I grew up in Bakersfield and this donut shop became my standard for donuts. I've visited donut shops across the country, and to be honest, I've never found ones as fresh and as good as these. For example, anywhere else is so skimpy with the jelly in the jelly donut. Don't worry if you come here, the whole center is a giant glob of jelly. Also make sure to have the mega chocolate twist. It has chocolate swirl inside with chocolate frosting and chocolate chips, and it is amazing. America may run on Dunkin, but not me, I'm enlightened. Way to go College Coffee and Donuts, you did it. I came in here looking for my Boba fix on a random Friday afternoon. After walking in I was immediately greeted by a very helpful employee. It's always great when the people working at an establishment you visit seem to enjoy their work. I had a few questions about the boba and the types of tea they have. They have Thai tea, taro tea, and green tea. Sold. Sold. I went for the Thai tea frappe with boba included. One note I have is that the boba at this establishment is slightly larger than those at other establishments. Extra chewy as well. I was satisfied with the tea and I will come again. I have passed College Coffee and Donuts many times but never had an opportunity to stop by. Since I work at Starbucks and we are currently in the midst of Frappuccino Happy Hour, I wanted to show my coworkers that I appreciate them with some delicious doughnuts! I came in this morning at around 9am and I was shocked to see that they had a full case of doughnuts ready for the taking. I quickly told the friendly girl behind the counter that I wanted to purchase a dozen doughnuts and a few other items. They had a great selection: huge bear claws, giant doughnuts that looked like glazed cinnamon rolls without the icing, maple bars, cake doughnuts, cream or jelly filled, glazed with icing, crullers, doughnut holes, etc! They had it all. I also purchased a ham, cheese, and jalapeño croissant. It was huge! They also had sausage croissants. I'm gonna have to get one next time. They also sell smoothies and coffee here, but I was so distracted by the delicious doughnuts that I didn't even think to take a look at what else they have to offer.
