This place is really spacious! It's beautifully decorated during Christmas. I stopped in for a Gingerbread Latte one morning before work and was pleasantly surprised at how quick the service was. I was very disappointed with my experience here. First of all, the music was far too loud to enjoy sitting around inside. I know it feels pointless to complain that it was country music given this is Bakersfield, but not everyone here enjoys country music, and it would have been nice to not have to hear it blaring OVER the sound of my own music cranked as loud as it would go in my headphones. There was no avoiding the terrible twang as much as I tried. The customer service was fair enough, but then again, I was the only customer there. I would be deeply concerned if I'd received anything less than a basic, pleasant greeting. Thankfully the person at the counter was friendly enough, not that I could really hear over the music. I didn't try the coffee but my tea was alright flavor wise for a simple tea bag. What WASN'T alright was my avocado toast, if it could be called that at all. It was severely lacking in both the avocado and the toast department. What I was given instead was a floppy, slightly warmed piece of bread with little-to-no crunch to it, and a scant amount of avocado that looked more like it had been spread on the bread as if it were butter rather than the feature ingredient of the dish. The floppy bread could barely stand up under the weight of the five slivers of red onion the four halved grape tomatoes and the sprinkling of microgreens. (Also, a little seasoning never killed anyone.) All of this for the "low" price of almost $16. I know times are tough and you've gotta make a buck, but this was a little ridiculous. I'm bummed because I like to spend my money at places that aim to do good with it, but I'm sad to say I won't be spending any more of my time or money here. If you're going to serve avocado toast, it should be both toasted AND have at least a recognizable amount of avocado on it. read more

Back for more! After getting the Elite Yelp experience at Covenant, had to come back for more! Everyone there is just so friendly!! They greet you with a smile, serve fabulous coffee and you walk out with a new energy in your step. I got the Chagamatcha. Probably didn't spell that correctly. It was delicious! Cute place! Decor is great! Tables available to sit and enjoy your coffee. They serve food too. I wish they were near my house because I would make this my everyday coffee shop if it was closer. read more

Looking for a new coffee shop and was really hoping to like this coffee place. Ordered a hot small almond milk latte. The taste was meh at best, it was warm not hot, the staff was not very welcoming or friendly. It almost felt as if being there inconvenienced them. The place itself has a lot going on, too bad none of the seating areas are actually usable because they are all sort of back into each other so it's hard to get comfortable. Stopped in en route to Northern California. Needed a pick me up and something to eat. I'd been here 7-8 years before. Didn't register until I pulled up. So happy they're still here. Has a macchiato and breakfast sandwich. Both were excellent. The building is a previous bank. The roasting equipment is all front and center so you see everything, which is nice. Great coffee, great breakfast, and fantastic service. The only downside is its location. I ordered a mocha frappe and it was sooo good! It wasn't too sweet and had the just the right amount of flavor. The breakfast sandwich was delicious and pretty big! The egg, sausage, and cheese was placed perfectly in the bagel bun (which was toasted on the outside and soft in the inside). Although there was only one person working at the time, and people came in one after another, she maintained her patience and professionalism. There was one point when a homeless person came in to ask for water/restroom, and became upset (and violent) when she was told it was only for customers. Apparently, she was a usual visitor and always acted that way, even when she was given water and an opportunity to use the restroom. I will be planning on visiting this establishment more so in the near future. I love the fact that they are non-profit and that all the proceeds help mentor and provide jobs for former foster youth! read more

I got their black coffee, coffee of the day, and a chagmatcha Great customer service! My favorite is the Chagamatcha! If you're a matcha fan, you GOT to get this. My friends got their coffee and loved it! My fiance (who is a coffee enthusiast) loved the coffee of the day. His friend who got the black coffee said it was the best roast he ever got. I also got a quiche (ate that one quickly) and the lady who was serving me was so sweet! I haven't actually visited Covenant Coffee in person, but I bought a box of dark roast coffee pods at a supporting location. I was so excited for my morning coffee. The smell of that pod brewing was heavenly. I was so excited to take my first sip. Smooth and bold. Just the way I like it. It was delicious! Oh my goodness! I'm so glad I bought those pods! The reviews on this place are very misleading. The customer service was terrible. Our order wasn't given to us correctly and half of what we ordered was missing. Descriptions on the menu about the food were totally off because what was given to us was completely different. Usually come for coffee but today we got lunch, the pesto turkey panini was beyond amazing, finished with a white chocolate mocha and I was in heaven. We are both very particular about how our coffee tastes so we only ordered small cups because we weren't sure if we'd like it or not. The business is on the frontage road off of Chester which is a one way that goes south.... so if you are at Norris go north past the business then turn right and right to gain access. The roast was not or did not seem very dark which I do like I purchased a bag of coffee to try to make it home myself, and ended up with similar results so it wasn't the barista. Nice place in a little bit of a shady area. But I mean, it's Oildale. Anywho! We got there and everyone was really nice! Customer service was definitely on point! We ordered the ham & cheese and biscuits n gravy, along with a Mocha frappe freeze and a toffeenut latte. While we waited, it turns out they had just run out of biscuits and gravy so they asked if there was anything else we would like on the menu (this was after we had already paid). We didn't see anything else that stuck out to us, so we asked for a refund. The kind gentleman refunded our money, but still felt bad about being unable to fulfill our order. He asked if maybe we'd like another free drink or if there was anything he could do. So, my mom decided to order another freeze drink to try. So nice!! I was definitely impressed! As for the coffee, it may not be my cup of tea (haha!). It went down really smooth, which was good, but something about the taste of the coffee wasn't for me. The ham & cheese was good! Nothing that blew me out of the water, but I mean, there's not much you can do with it. I'd order again! The woman who took my order offered to do the breakfast sandwich on the croissant instead of a bagel, which I appreciated (love croissants). I was honestly expecting more of a "fast food" taste, but it was delicious! Their coffee was good too. If you're into collecting coffee merch, they had a lot of cool mugs and things.
