They blocked in the only entrance to an entire parking area using two uhauls. They refused to move the trucks until five cars were backed up and we threatened to call the cops. I have to warn anyone from using this service. It's a scam. They have "great" customer service all the up until your packages are taken (leading you to trust them). Then, once the packages are gone, you're on your own and wondering if you'll ever get them again. Worst customer service and company I've ever done business with. After I arranged a pickup date/location and rented a u-haul to move my own boxes, I was told that my boxes were not at that location. Several texts, emails, and phone calls went ignored or were redirected with no follow-up. When I called them out on their chat system, I was straight up ghosted. After being told that my boxes were actually at the original location, they refused to deliver my boxes to me for free asap. They made me wait until their free delivery date which was 12 days later. My boxes contained everything I needed to live. No representatives apologized or admitted any responsibility or wrongdoing. Everywhere I've looked they have bad reviews. We had an excellent experience. I know everyone else's experience was horrible. BUT we only used College Boxes for shipping directly from my daughter's apartment in the Bronx to our home in Alabama. I signed up for an account and ordered boxes. They arrived within 3 days of ordering. The boxes came nicely packaged with five large double walled boxes with a roll of tape and several fedex plastic labels. Beware that you must print out your own labels for the fedex envelopes including box dimensions and estimated weight of boxes. This is done through the Collegeboxes website within your account. We had already loaded everything and had no immediate access to a printer. Luckily our hotel was able to accommodate and printed them for us. The pickup time for Fedex was from 10 to 6 which was a bit annoying for us. However, we were given the time frame via text and e-mail in advance so we were prepared to wait. We received the boxes 3 days later!! A couple of the boxes were slightly damaged. However, the boxes are double walled so the contents inside were not damaged. We were charged $50.00 per box which totaled $500.00 for us. Way cheaper then renting a pod storage unit or hiring a mover. read more

There are a lot of bad reviews for this service but I had a good experience with them. I didn't do their full service packing and storage option, but used their direct shipping option and had no problems. I ordered their moving starter kit, packed my boxes, used my Collegeboxes account to print my labels and schedule my FedEx pick up. They gave me a time frame of 10am to 6pm for pickup; I had my boxes ready and stacked outside my door by 10am. I was dreading having to wait all day for FedEx but they were there a little after 11am. My Collegeboxes account showed me the transit status of my boxes; they got from Arkansas to New York in 3 days. Everything was in good condition upon arrival. Like so many others on here, if I could give no stars I would. CB listed my kid's belongings as having been delivered to his dorm room, when in fact, they had lost all of them. It's one (incompetent and negligent) thing to lose the items you've contracted to store and deliver safely, it's an entirely different (deceptive and fraudulent) thing to claim they had been delivered. At one point, CB said they thought the boxes had been improperly registered when FedEx first delivered them to the warehouse. So why then were they listed on my account as being safely stored in the warehouse all summer and then as having been delivered to the dorm? I argued that I should be compensated for the full value of the boxes without having to provide documentation, which would have required hours of work on top of hours they have already taken from me in terms of shopping, packing and shipping and then MORE shopping (some of which I had to do instead of attending parent orientation programming at my kid's school) and packing and shipping, all with NO guarantee that they'd ultimately approve the claim. My argument was based on breach of contract on their part because they clearly did not meet the standard of care that they promised in their marketing materials. Instead of connecting me to a person I could discuss the issue with, their customer service essentially ghosted me in the form of non-responsive responses. My son went through College Boxes to ship his stuff from Houston to UC Santa Barbara. 4 boxes were picked up by FedEx. 3 boxes were dropped off at a Uhaul storage facility. The place was closed at 3pm on Saturday Sept 23, and we had to check into the dorm at 4 pm. College Boxes had nobody available to help my son who was getting stressed out. For some reason, one box was shipped to another Uhaul location in Santa Barbara....we found the box in the rear of that facility. WHY the boxes were not all delivered to one spot is my question. I finally got hold of a worker at the closed Uhaul storage facility and he came in15 minutes to open up and we found the other three boxes. College boxes was not available to help us find the three boxes at the closed location, and never emailed us with information on what to expect on pick up day. There is no reason to use College Boxes for my 11th grader when he's off to school in 2 years. read more

I paid 600$ for them to ship me irreparably broken items, many of which cannot be replaced. Literally the worst service ever. When I scheduled my pick-up date for my items, they failed to send the packing materials on time and left me hanging. When they finally showed up to collect my things, they came hours late. When I scheduled delivery for my items to my new apartment, they delivered my items 2 weeks after the scheduled date. They claim its because the card they had on file was declined because it was a closed account, yet they failed to contact me about payment until nearly 1 week after the boxes were already supposed to be delivered. Please, DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE! They are highly inconsistent and hard to reach. I used the ship to school service. First. I was given a time window of 10 AM to 6 PM for my boxes to be picked up from my house to ship to school. The FedEx man arrived at 9:30 AM. The boxes were all packed but I had not yet brought them to the door. He said he is not allowed inside to help and also that he was on a tight schedule. I told him I would bring the 7 boxes as fast as possible to which he replied that he did not even have space on his truck for 7 boxes and that someone would come later. This worked out fine but gave me doubts to their service. Now, at school I had my boxes scheduled to be delivered the day after I arrived. I received a text that morning that boxes would be delivered between 9 AM and 2 PM. At 3 PM, with no communication from the company all day, I try to go on the website (which kept having an error and would not load) and also called both numbers listed. Neither was any help. FINALLY, I emailed them to which a local representative responded rather quickly by calling me. The representative said my boxes were not on the truck because I had written in my apartment building rather than selecting it because it was not listed (How is this my problem? They should have called me earlier to confirm where the boxes were going). Also, she said that they had to go back to the ware house but could come that night between 6 and 7 pm. I said okay. Again, no show. I get a call at 8:30 pm saying they will come first thing in the morning at 10 AM. This morning, I call the number from last night at 10:45 after having waited. The rep says 15 minutes. At 3:00 o'clock I left the house because I was tired of waiting after trying to call them multiple times. As soon as I leave the house I get a call that they are on their way. I ask them to leave the boxes outside my door and they do. I will never use this company again. read more

I found some sticky liquid all over my stuffs and this didn't come from leaking of the stuffs I packed because I carefully followed their instruction to NOT pack liquids. Never ship with this company. I have shipped with them three times. The first time everything went smoothly. The second time they lost my boxes. The third time, they lost one of my boxes, broke my television, and my glassware. I insured my boxes and they refused to pay the insurance amount. Never ship with them. I also stored my boxes with them and they store your items with other customers (something they did not tell me). They also moved my items to different storage units across the city without telling me. I had to find out when I went to the storage unit to get my things and all of my things were gone. I would not recommend anyone to do business with this company. This company lost a handful of my important college items over the course of the summer, May-August. The total amount of items I gave them was not recorded appropriately on their end (something I expected of them to do as they are a moving company). And now my items, that were labeled, are lost. Shortly after delivery, this realization was made evident as moving can be a very hectic process. Therefore, I ended up filing a claim, and they stated how they could not help me at all because they only recorded a certain amount of items in their possession. Again, this was not the full amount of items I gave to them. Additionally, I did not take anything out of storage over the summer. I entrusted this company to record and store all my items appropriately and they failed to do that, nor provide any financial assistance for me to replace the items lost in their possession. From day one of working with this company, sent boxes and a trunk to daughter's college across country, to final day they were great. The last pick up day, she couldn't print box labels, but they said no worries, took the items, and printed for her at storage place. Even when we realized that they had stored them again (as they'd done for 3 years) instead of sending them back across the country, a simple email got the boxes and trunk on their way. AMAZING SERVICE. I had my boxes shipped from my dorm at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago to where I currently reside in Tampa, Florida. I had 10 boxes. One in which was a 10x12 foot oriental rug. Without any questions, Collegeboxes packed/wrapped up my rug and charged me the same amount for their standard sized box. I am in school on a scholarship, so this worked for me. Thank you Collegeboxes. Anyone who is reading this, please remember to be appreciative. DON'T USE THIS SERVICE! IT'S A TOTAL FRAUD. I trusted this company because they're said to be powered by UHaul, but wrong judgement! First of all, NO EXPLICIT LISTING OF CHARGES, and their representatives are HIGHLY INCONSISTENT IN INFORMATION. Their ship-to-school service needs a sign up fee, so I was cautious enough to contact their customer service 4 times before making an action, just to make sure I understood their charges. I was told at first that I could use direct shipping service to save the registration fee because I don't need their delivery service and won't store my items more than a week. But when I experience technical problem with their website when trying to use that service, their representative told me I could only use the ship-to-school service, and the cost would be shipping+$15/box+registration. I guess that was a sign to stop, but I still continued with my faith in UHaul. But it didn't stop there. After a disastrous experience with paying the registration fee which I'll complain later, I was shown a bill of shipping+$45/box+registration. And this time, the representative told me it should be shipping+$30/box+registration, and said s/he could change it for me in the system. WHAT?! And these all lead to my next question, what kind of RIDICULOUS SYSTEM are they using??? THE CUSTOMER SERVICE APPARENTLY CAN CHANGE THE DATA ON THEIR CALL. It would stuck on a page if you don't fill out the blanks in the way they expected, without any hint or any explanation. During registration, I was stuck on the billing page for no reason, while it apparently WAS CHARGING MY CARDS (yes I tried with 4 different cards) AGAIN AND AGAIN. The customer service kept telling me their system only showed one charge, but I don't think I would trust a system that got me into this situation in the first place. I'd have to wait and see if those charges disappear from my bank account. After all this pain, I decided to not use their service. But of course I can't get my registration fee back even though it was just processed two hours ago, because it is non-refundable and that their "free kit" was already sent to me, waiting in the hold area of FedEx to be assigned a tracking number. I was told that I could only get a refund if I get the "free kit" and ship it back to them, but I won't be able to receive them because I'll move before it could arrive. And by the way, their kit is available at UHaul shops, but no they cannot be picked up for god knows what reason. Anyways, seeing the previous review and that there is only one review of them, I realize I shouldn't have pick a service without reading Yelp. And I shouldn't have trusted "powered by UHaul" just because UHaul itself provides good service. read more

Worst service ever. Irresponsible. I lost a package that was full of my cloths and art supplies with their service. They never told me that one of my package was missing before i ask for it. They just delivered rest of two boxes. i spent two weeks trying to contact them and trying to figure why my package is in transit for three weeks. They answered extremely late and never knew where the package was or about any of process that it had gone through. Couldn't deal this matter directly with Fedex because i used college box's account, not mine and which NEVER give a shit about the lost bag. After endless waiting and stupid chatting that gives no solution at all, i got a call from Fedex that it was delivered it to a wrong address. I had to request the College Boxes to request a call tag to the Fedex and wait untill the Fedex tell the college box if they found it or not and the college box tells me about it. BUT the college box never contacts you about any of answer before you ask them after getting tired of waiting. The college box even deactivated my account which has all the information with it as September came saying that i have no service going on with them. Eventually i could not find the package and DID NOT GET THE REFUND for the lost items even if i paid for the insurance saying that i have $200 worthy items in my package. It happened in August and i got the answer from them today which is November. They did not even notified that i will not get the refund. I had to ask them and wait for the mail that i have to wait more and repeating that again and again for three months. They give a single sentence as a reply to your paragraph-long question and bagging for help to find the package back. I paid about $300 for three boxes and got only two package back.
