I really like this place. This was the second time I have been here. The last time I was here was in 2017. After a two year absence, it was still the charming place I fell in love with. It is a great and busy place for breakfast with seating inside and out. I ordered the Denver wrap, which included ham, cheese, eggs, peppers, and jalapeno peppers. It had the perfect spice and I was glad I tried it. I also ordered a coffee, which was flavorful. My friend had the scone, which she commented that it was a little dry, but the jam complimented it well. My other friends ordered the lemon pound cake, which they thought was better than the usual one they order at Starbucks. We visited this place when we were on a trip to Ithaca NY. We stayed at the Canopy by Hilton across the street. We went here at 10 AM in the morning and it had a few people sitting in and out. They took much of the precautions needed in light of the COVID situations but I did see a few unmasked patrons and employees, but the employees might have been observing social distancing. My partner ordered the Tex mex bagel and I ordered a coffee drink that was called the Chai Charger (basically chai and espresso). The orders took a few minutes and my partner got the Tex Mex faster while I waited for about 15 minutes. I was sitting in the front bar and many people kept getting drinks but I didn't. Some of the employees behind the counter kept staring at me but they never asked me why I was sitting there without any food and that awkward staring didn't make me feel welcome here. However, the main barista who initially served me and took my order noticed and immediately fixed the drink. So it was 20 minutes to get a chai charger in a not-so-crowded bagel shop in Ithaca. Not a great experience- why would I give them my business in future? Any way, I decided to try the chai charger and share some of the Tex Mex bagel. The chai charger was interesting, and I think it might have been the only time I got a chai with an espresso. I am glad I tried it. The Tex Mel bagel was very poor: the eggs weren't fresh, the salsa was cold and watery and made the entire bagel cold and soggy. This place was highly recommended but fell short of expectations. One more PSA: they serve alcohol as well. I didn't get it, but it's definitely an interesting concept and I could see myself getting beer from a coffee shop. Rating is based as follows: 50% for the food, 30% for the service and 20% for ambience and other things: Food: 2 stars at 50% = 1.0 (thank god for the chai charger, else it might have been 1.0) Service: 3 stars at 30% = 0.9 Ambience and everything else: 2 star at 20% = 0.4 (the staring didn't help). We had a delicious lunch here. I opted for the breakfast bagel while hubby had the Mexican pizza bagel. We also purchased two monster cookies from Ithaca bakery. Everything was fresh and yummy. They have a very diverse menu that should please any palate-salads, bowls and various sandwiches. Plenty of vegitarian and vegan options to choose from. The baked goods case was also yummy looking. I ordered an everything bagel with smoked salmon, capers, and cream cheese, as that's my favorite kind of bagel. hence the long line and general crowdedness, I was very satisfied with the bagel. This establishment had hip decorations and a great atmosphere. This was a recommendation by a colleague and sadly it was a disappointment. We ordered two bagel sandwiches: the Brooklyn (eggs, cheese and bacon) and the Bronx (eggs, cheese and sausage). The sandwiches came out after 20+ minutes and lukewarm. The eggs were pre-made. For one of the sandwiches, we ordered the rosemary salt bagel and instead got the onion bagel. My bagel sandwich tasted like a bagel sandwich I could assemble at a hotel buffet. Get the rosemary salt bagel! Toasted with butter may be the perfect treatment but you can't go wrong with any topping really. Deeply flavored with the piney rosemary flavor that I love and not too much salt, it's a real treat. Bagel lovers talk about the mythical line drawn around NYC that separates good bagel territory from, well, everything else :) I always believed that was about 30 miles from the city but Collegetown Bagels has warped space-time to get inside that line! The bagels here are smallish chewy things, not oversized puffy monsters. One is 90 cents, that seemed totally fair to me; about $2.50 with cream cheese. My only complaint is that the everything bagel (called a Long Island here) was a bit light on the toppings. Great consistency just would benefit from a few more sesame, poppy and other seeds. Staff was not effusively friendly but plenty helpful. You don't have to stand around awkwardly waiting for your order to be done, you get a numbered sign at checkout and they run the food out to your table. read more

The egg and cheese bagel and huevo wrap were fine, a little on the greasy side, but the wait for them was painfully long. There not a huge amount of choice in downtown Ithaca for take out breakfast, but certainly don't go here if you're in a rush. What's neat is the entire menu is basically covers the entire wall! How cool is that?!?! I did have to try the bagels here and I personally liked the long Island bagel (which otherwise is known as a everything bagel) and thought it tasted well and I did try a turkey club, but I wasn't blown away! Being NY born and raised, I have high standards for bagels. When I walked into Collegetown Bagels and saw the ginormous chalkboard of breakfast bagel sandwiches, wraps, and coffee options, I knew I'd found the real deal. Collegetown offers a selection of requisite standards like sesame, and everything, but also has a revolving selection of intriguing flavors like rosemary salt and Long Island wheat. The bagels are a bit on the smaller side than some other stores, but they are the perfect amount of crisp outside and soft chewy inside. I opted for a regular coffee which, typical of Ithaca, was fair trade and organic, but must importantly delicious. My friend ordered a chai tea latte which was generously laiden with foam. Seating is a bit tight, but exactly what I'd expect out of a bagel shop or luncheonette. I will certainly be back the next time in the area, and plan on working my way through the extensive and delicious sounding menu. read more

I knew this bagel shop was popular but damn I severely underestimated how many people would be in a bagel shop on a Sunday morning in the middle of the summer. When you walk in there are lines going everywhere but you're able to kind of figure out where to go to order. It tends to be on the more expensive side, two meals and two drinks for two people was about $30. I had a sandwich with avocado, salmon, and toasted bread. It was not good. The bread had been toasted but by the time it arrived to me it was cold and soggy. However my partner got a sandwich with jalapeño and raspberry cream cheese and his was delicious. My chai latte was good. It is not exactly a good place to study because there are very limited tables is very busy inside. read more

Perhaps growing up in New Jersey and being surrounded by at least 5 awesome bagel shops within a 1 mile radius has spoiled me, but nonetheless my visit to this place was disappointing. We were visiting my sister in Ithaca for the weekend and she said that this was the place that was closest to a NJ bagel, so we decided to try it out. We went on a Sunday morning around 9:00 and it was completely packed with only two people working. We ordered 3 bagels (2 with butter and one with bacon,egg, and cheese) and waited for nearly 30 minutes for our order. I completely understand that they were understaffed, but I wish they would have given us the heads up that it would be a while, as we were in a rush and wouldn't have stayed if we knew. The egg they use is like an egg patty and the bagels were just meh. They do have TONS of options for sandwiches and wraps, so maybe that is their specialty that we missed out on. Maybe we caught them on an off-day but overall I'd probably go elsewhere next time for a quick breakfast/lunch. read more

I miss bagels. Jersey has the best bagels but moving to another area, well you live with it. I was super excited to visit here. It's a nice area and has a lot of seating, it is a busy atmosphere on the weekends. The amount of options you can choose from is pretty overwhelming to say the least but hey, the more the merry! I wanted to keep it simple (I was going for waffles afterwards) so I ordered only a bagel. I'm boring with my sesame seed bagel and cucumber dill cream cheese but it was so warm and so good! It took way longer than it should have for a bagel with cream cheese but it was delicious. The cream cheese was so unique and I loved the chunks of cucumber in it. It was so refreshing for a creamy spread! I wish they hadn't run out of some of the bagels, I wanted to try the rosemary salt bagel that a friend of mine kept talking about but alas, it was sold out. Great place for breakfast and lunch! My girlfriend and I love the Fit Blitz sandwich. It's a really good vegan option. We've also tried the Power Plant breakfast sandwich which was nice. Nice, cozy bagel and coffee spot in downtown Ithaca. We wanted a quick breakfast that was walking distance from our hotel and figured bagels and an iced coffee would do that job, and it did just that. It's a little confusing when you walk-in, as their counter is large and U-shaped, but you have to walk around to order any bagel/sandwich. All of their options are listed on a chalkboard behind the counter and there are so many different options you can choose from - breakfast sandwiches, bagel options, lunch sandwiches, and the list goes on. We got a jalapeno bagel with veggie cream cheese and an everything bagel with jalapeno cream cheese. Both bagels were decent - slightly dry but not too thick/chewy that it gets difficult to bite. The veggie cream cheese was super tasty - tasted more of a spread than clunky cream cheese. Their iced coffee is pretty good too.
