This is the FIRST CRITICAL REVIEW I've ever written on ANY business. Only 2408 miles driven since this repair that I paid $1200 cash for. The A/C was used no more than 12 hours total after the new compressor was installed. The car has had no accidents of any kind. The compressor that Greg's shop installed (for $1200) just dropped off the engine block when I started the car one day. It was never bolted on like they told me it was. Greg sent a tow truck to pick the car up from my house and when I called later that day to check on my car, I was told that Greg has gone on vacation in Acapulco. My car stayed at that shop for 14 days and whenever I called to ask about my car, it was impossible to get a straight answer to why my a/c compressor would become unbolted. One of the guys that answered my call just said that I need to get a new engine. The next time I called them to say I can have AAA Auto Club tow the car off of Greg's lot.. but the message from Greg (still in Acapulco) was: "pay the fee for the tow truck Greg sent for $200, and then I could have my car". By this time I was beyond frustrated. Then I asked if they could put a smaller drive belt on and bypass the compressor. Greg got back from Acapulco and they called me with an estimate to put on a smaller belt and bypass the compressor.. $746.68 !!! I declined. I scheduled a AAA tow truck to meet me over at Greg's shop and he was still refusing to give me my car keys unless I paid him $200. Then he had a quick change of heart after I told him I would call police. At that point Greg had a childish, name-calling tantrum. Never in my life saw a grown man have such a pathetic tantrum. BE AWARE that Collinsworth Car Care is just like so many others; They'll happily take your money without doing an honest repair or giving an honest explanation. The shop I had my car towed to did the bypass belt install perfectly for a tiny fraction of what greedy Greg wanted. read more

They took me in right away and had it done in half a day, and it was quite a task too: diagnosing starting problems and eventually replacing the starter. Not a fun thing for any car owner swinging paycheck to paycheck, but I was very happy for quality work and extremely fast return. One time, I went in to have my water pump replaced and he simply pointed to the work orders tacked up on the wall and said "I will be backed up until [date]." But he gave me a business card for another outfit down in Saturn Road who fixed me up. That was very nice! read more

I chose this place on a recommendation. The serpentine belt on my car needed to be replaced. The very helpful lady at the counter provided me an estimate then said she'd call. Less than three hours later the car was ready, at the exact price quoted. The place was very organized and clean, practically spotless in the work and customer areas. Bottom line: professional, honest, speedy and all at a reasonable price. I don't know what else one could ask for in a mechanic. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE. Cal is a pretty good mechanic, but charges way too much. I have brought this guys tons of business and he stills over charges me every time. Previous owners (Saieed) were much more fair. I will not be taking my cars or recommending him anymore. Tired of getting ripped off on labor while he sits there and acts like my friend. Always says he's giving me a deal blah blah blah rip me off some more. Just to give an idea of how outrageous his prices are. 1997 Honda Accord - replaced front rotors and pads. Charged my mom $550 ridiculous. Seriously Cal? rotor are 30 a piece and pads are 40. So over $400 in labor for just the front? Go F yourself Cal. 1997 Honda Accord - Evacuated and recharged A/C - $150 1997 Toyota camry - $600 to replace A/C compressor 1997 Toyota camry - $550 to replace timing belt and tensioner - parts $40 so $510 for labor? F@#$ing ridiculous timing belt takes less than 4 hours. Should have bit the bullet and repaired myself. Ripped my brother off I feel terrible. 1997 Toyota camry - $650 to replace front pass rotor and caliper as well as front pads. Are you @%@ @#$ serious? We have been using Jonathan at Collinsworth for many years. They kept my wife's minivan alive for many years past its due and now work on my son's truck as well. My car is a foreign make but they don't do foreign car work. They are honest, forthright and most importantly won't rip you off. Jonathan will call with an estimate then do the work and charge you what he said it would be. Their shop is always kept clean and they are very well organized. Highly recommended! read more

My car air conditioner has slowly stopped working last fall. I took it to these guys and they gave me an estimate of over $400 for leaking hoses. I took it elsewhere and had freon replaced and my air has worked fine for months. The two guys seemed really nice, but get a second opinion. read more

Jonathan has proven to be extremely knowledgable, thorough, and refreshingly honest as we have screened used cars. I had my own inspection notes and he proved himself able to hit every single note. He took about 45 minutes to drive, inspect, and assess each car, very attentive to listening and answering our questions. Jonathan is the most honest and best auto repair mechanic I have ever run across. Rich Machado and the staff at Collinsworth Car Care are one of a kind! As an outside sales representative of the greater DFW area, my car takes quite a beating. The combination of unpredictable and extreme Dallas weather, normal wear and tear, ever-increasing mileage and an older vehicle makes for the perfect storm. It's reassuring to know I've found a place that doesn't cut corners, views me as more than a number, takes the time to read between the lines, and can make something out of my non-car-speak.
