I made an appointment and was told that for a bath and nails it would be about 2 hours. Because my dog is blind I'm kind of a nervous dog mom, so I dropped her off, then set a time for 2 hours...no call. Gave it another half hour - nothing by, so I called to check in (especially bc another review had brought up issues with them getting to their dog and communication). They told me that she was ready, so I went and picked her up. She seemed a little damp so I figured they'd dried her as much as possible without scaring the hell out of her. Got home and my boyfriend was like "she doesn't smell like she got a bath" which is weird for a post-groom. Then I took a closer look at her nails - they were still long and her dew claw seemed way too long and curled. This just wasn't acceptable but they'd already gotten my money and I really didn't want to call or go back. Aside from not feeling like my dog was properly groomed, I really wasn't impressed with the place itself. Because it's a "pet spa" (which I use loosely based on my experience) and a doggy daycare type place, the smell of dog feces/urine overpowers the smell of the spa. And it just didn't seem like a very professional business to be honest. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Maybe as a last resort but that's even after a bath outdoors with the hose.

We had to wait a bit as there was a glitch in our appt., but once we met Dr. Houska, all was fine. He was wonderful to talk with. Dr. Houska was so thorough, asked and answered so many questions. There are 17 Newfoundlands at the kennels who literally never get human contact other than when they get fed. They do not get walked regularly and sleep on cement floors with a small access door to the outside. I'm not quite sure why there are so many if there is no time for them. However, they may be used to that. The main issue is this, if you are bringing your dog here, they will not get ANY human time or a walk unless you pay extra. Customers bring in blankets and beds for their dogs well being. Your dog will not have this. They are put on a shelf or stored away. Return customers bring in blankets, etc. If not going to allow the dog to use it, why not say that? Your dog will sleep on a cement floor. It is loud, noisy and I can only imagine your dog feels abandoned. Do not pay for this service. While the intention is good, it is not executed as you will be led to believe. There are only one or two staff to care for all animals here. Not good enough.

I hope you never need urgent care for your pet, but if you do, give Pittsford Animal Hospital a try.
