I'm new to the Williamsburg area and my mom is here with me helping me get settled before school starts. We were completely overwhelmed by the vast number of pancake houses here and decided to try this one because it kept popping up with high reviews. Run, do not walk, to Colonial Pancake House! The pancakes are light, fluffy, and taste as though they may have a hint of something extra - vanilla maybe? I got the apple pie pancakes and y'all this did NOT taste like canned pie filling. Those apples were toothsome and dripping with cinnamon goodness. Our server Tessa was so knowledgeable and kind and really made us look forward to coming back. And as if that wasn't enough, the restaurant had all of the colonial charm the name promises. Lovely, down home, old school pancake house that has been operated by the same family for a long time. They offer all the heavy, but delicious, breakfast items that this New Yorker doesn't typically allow himself. However, on vacation calories don't count! Staff is super friendly and efficient. My daughter and I were in town giving a seminar on Social Media Marketing when we stopped by The Colonial Pancake House for breakfast (November 12, 2017). As soon as we sat down, I asked Thomas, our delightful waiter, if they served Eggs Benedict. To my surprise they did!!! Since my favorite breakfast is Eggs Benedict, I was happy that the meat was not overdone and rubbery - it was juicy and full of flavor. There was plenty of sauce - the Hollandaise sauce was creamy and not bitter or lumpy. The English Muffin was not over toasted and hard to cut - it was warm & easy to cut. The egg was perfectly cooked - a little bit runny but not too runny and falling all over the place. If you are in the area on a Sunday morning, be sure to stop by for the Eggs Benedict! We never got some of the items we ordered but didn't complain because the waitress was doing her best and clearly overworked. We had omelettes (just okay), and our kids had pancakes.
