    Grilled Cheese w/ tomato

What an insanely priced menu! I paid $7 for Campbell's quality soup. $10 for a grilled cheese with one piece of cheese? (See photo). Poutine tasted decent, too bad there was only a few drops of gravy on it. Refused to pay the $2 for them to put more on. Even the waitress mentioned having two tables walk out due to menus prices. Thought about trying the burrito bowl but it was $34... Reuben? $19, kids Mac n cheese? $13 lol. They had a burger for $35. Been here before and liked it, will never be back. Don't know if ownership changed, but don't waste your time and money coming here.

We stopped into Colony diner for a Friday breakfast and the place wasn't very busy (good thing). The server was attentive as well. The menu was almost fully able to be made gluten free! We had the Irish Benedict (corned beef hash base) and a breakfast sandwich. The food was tasty and had good portions but was extremely overpriced. Two foods and a coffee were almost $50 and while that included gluten free up charges, it wasn't enough to set it up that much.

The family was famished after a trip to the New Haven area and we wanted some diner food, and Colony Diner came up. Pulled in shortly after 6:30 and just missed the early bird pricing! The place was about 80% full, and we were seated right away. When I think diner, I'm thinking outdated and just plain old, but that wasn't the case here. Perusing through the GIANT menu, I got the Reuben with corned beef and onion rings. The sandwich was a bit on the smaller side (especially compared to the panini my wife got) but it was delicious. I must say they are fantastic at frying - the onion rings and the fries were so crispy. The prices are a bit higher than we're used to ($93 for a family of 4), but it was overall a good experience.

Good food. Better service. Huge menu. Breakfast served all day. Nice relaxed atmosphere to just sit down and eat.

Colony Diner has everything! I've never seen a menu so large like this one. From all things breakfast (pancakes, omelettes, french toast, breakfast quesadillas, etc), sandwiches, burgers, pasta, seafood, and on, there is something for everyone. They also have gluten-free and vegan options for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There also was a case full of desserts: cakes and pies... Wished I had saved room for the Cannoli Pie! The prices were a little steep for certain items in my opinion, but everything is going up in price nowadays. The dining room was very cozy with large and roomy booths. The staff and servers were very friendly too. It had family diner feel, a great place to bring the kids. Colony Diner has won a few local awards and an obvious local favorite. The parking lot is always busy when we drive by. When we arrived, it was mid-morning and it was a full-house. We were seated very quickly and our server took our drink orders. My husband got a soda and I got a hot coffee. They had a server that looped around the diner filling up the coffee mugs frequently--I thought that was so smart. I was in the mood for breakfast and ordered the Southwestern Omelette that had black beans, tomatoes, spinach, avocado, and cheddar cheese. It was served with salsa, sour cream, home fries and toast. My husband got the Crispy Chicken and Cheese Wrap that came with french fries, coleslaw and a pickle. The food was your average diner food, but I think my omelette could have used more seasoning. The home fries were very good, homemade, cut thick and golden brown that my husband was swiping a few bites from my plate. Overall, we left Colony Diner feeling stuffed and with a lot of leftovers. We would likely come again, especially for breakfast, brunch or a slice a pie or two!

    Steak and cheese club sandwich

I ordered for pickup. The staff was nice. My nightmare began when I got home. The steak and cheese sandwich was awful. Four tiny wedges of sadness for nearly 20 dollars. As you can see in the picture, it is A TINY sandwich, with little substance. Each wedge measures about 2 inches by 1 inch (not exaggerating) in the shape of a triangle. Despite being a triple-decker, there was very little on the sandwich. The "steak" on the sandwich was not even deli meat. I wasn't expecting a quality cut of beef, and i was CERTAINLY not expecting something worse than what can be found at a subway. If this is what they call "steak" I can only imagine that they're putting used shoe leather on the "roast beef" sandwich. Anyways, what I got was a paper thin slice of grey rhinoceros skin, with plenty of tomatoes and lettuce. Overpriced. Tiny portions. Tastes bad. The interior was cute when I was picking up. I had thought yo myself, "maybe I'll come back here with my family next weekend!" Fat chance.

We love Colony Diner, it has an absolutely huge vegan menu that is super tasty. The prices for a diner are $5 above on every item however, even non vegan. But the waitresses are concise and the food comes out quick and the place is Clean Capitol C. So you get what you pay for, we visit at least once a month as a special treat. Breakfast I'd recommend the cinnamon roll pancakes either vegan or non both stellar, app I'd say mozz sticks, dinner I'd say go for the Buffalo chicken quesadilla either vegan or non they are both amazing. They also have beer & wine, the iced tea is great too.

Diners remind me of high school gatherings with friends eating fries with gravy and drinking coke. We typically avoid due to shared cooking areas but a friend recommended colony, I was surprised to see all the gluten free options and separate cooking area so we gave it a try. It was pretty busy on a Sunday morning at 10. We were able to get seated quickly though. My Child ordered a gluten-free waffle, I wish I could show you a picture of it but it was gone pretty quickly. It came with powdered sugar and it was good. my very picky teen said that he would order it again. I ordered veggie omelette with side of pancakes. It was huge, i had enough for two meals. The omelette was cooked nicely, I forgot to order it well done but it came out that way thankfully. We Weren't super impressed by the beverages, the whip cream on the hot chocolate was good but the hot chocolate itself was unimpressive. My husband said the orange juice was below average for the price. Colony is definitely worth a stop if you are in the area and are gluten free, we will definitely be back!

What's open at 10:30pm?! Colony Diner!! We we starving!! So glad we stopped in. Menu was huge. So many delicious things to choose from. Great variety for all. They had a whole page for Vegans, and gluten-free options as well! But at 1030 at night I just wanted something, anything ! So I decided to go for GF French toast! The prices were pretty much all about the same. Roughly 16.99 and dinner options were higher. Our waitress was great! The restaurant actually had a nice dining area outdoors , nicely decorated over a tent. But at 1030 at night we were just focused on food! Lol ! It came out extremely fast! Portions were huge also! I'd love to go back since they have so many other options for all! We did enjoy the food, it was really good!

Buffalo Chicken Panini - chicken with thin and had a nice crispy coating, served with lots of fries

Came here late on a Sunday evening. So many options that reading the menu was almost overwhelming. I loved that they have vegan and gluten-free options clearly listed. The prices were a bit more than what I expected; however, the portions were pretty big. We ordered a breakfast combo with pancakes for the kids, a Philly cheesesteak quesadilla, and Buffalo chicken panini. I found it a bit odd that the quesadilla came with fries, but can't complain, who doesn't love them? My favorite was the panini; chicken was pounded thin with a crispy breading. Overall, it's a classic diner. If variety is what you are looking for, then this may be a joint to try.

Onto the drinks and food which were so delicious and truly enjoyable. I got the Beachy Bee Iced Latte special, which is a honey vanilla latte with a coconut cold foam and toasted coconut on top (simply divine)! My fiancé got the cappuccino which was made just to his liking, and he's a coffee connoisseur. For food, I had the Bumble, which I highly recommend, with scrambled eggs, subbed with the gluten free sourdough bread (+$2 up-charge) and cheddar instead of American cheese. It's served all day and had so much flavor with that garlic butter, and the seasoned steak. Yum! If you are gluten free like me, you will appreciate that they have the gluten free sourdough bread or a gluten free wrap to substitute with. My partner had the Basic Bee with bacon and thought it was flavorful with light and fluffy scrambled eggs that complimented the bacon well. Overall, I would really recommend this place if you're looking for a breakfast or lunch in Wallingford!

I normally try to give places the benefit of the doubt, but our experience at The Bees Knees Bistro…read morein Wallingford was honestly very disappointing and upsetting. My family and I arrived while it was raining outside with our young daughters in strollers, expecting to sit down for a meal and get out of the weather. Instead, we were told we could not come in with the strollers and essentially felt unwelcome the moment we walked through the door. As parents of babies who are still too young to sit safely in high chairs on their own, the strollers are not optional for us , they are necessary. We were not being disruptive, rude, or inconsiderate. We were simply trying to have a meal as a family. Rather than attempting to accommodate us or show any understanding, we were left feeling like having children made us an inconvenience. What made the situation even worse was the fact that it was pouring outside. Any level of kindness or flexibility would have gone a long way. Instead, we felt embarrassed, frustrated, and honestly shocked by the lack of compassion and customer service. Families with young children already face enough challenges going out in public, and experiences like this make it even harder. We ended up leaving and taking our business somewhere else that was far more welcoming and understanding toward families. It is disappointing because we were genuinely looking forward to trying this restaurant, but first impressions matter. A restaurant does not need to be "kid-centered" to still treat parents and babies with basic respect and decency. I completely understand that restaurants may have space limitations or policies, but there is a respectful and compassionate way to handle situations like this. Instead, the experience came across as cold and dismissive. There are many restaurants in the area that are happy to accommodate families, and moving forward those are the businesses I will continue to support. Unfortunately, after this experience, I will not be returning and would not recommend this restaurant to families with infants or children who still require strollers or extra accommodations. I wont be going back and giving them .you business, nor will I be recommending this place to anyone. Totally rude and discrimination towards those with babies. I did not feel cherished like their website says every guest is. Its sad because this will and im sure does effect their business. I will never give them my business after yesterday. No attempts at accommodating us or evening offering to let us sit outside, lazy staff, but yet there were 3 teenage girls taking names for the wait list. What a joke.
