As a professional artist who regularly sells fine art reproductions at shows and galleries, this company has been a godsend for my business. I've been searching for the perfect giclée printer for years, and the search ended here. Simply put, Color 1 Photo produces the best giclée prints for the best prices. I cannot recommend them enough. Their fine art reproductions on German Etching Paper (a thick, watercolor textured surface) are gorgeous to behold. Perfectly color accurate, archival, beautifully packaged and ready-to-sell. I was delighted to learn that their fine art prints come shrink-wrapped with a rigid backing board. I now always pay a little bit extra for the fine art prints, as their prices are a bargain for what you get. While their print quality and prices are top notch, I feel their customer service deserves special mention: 1) The Staff is always knowledgeable, friendly, and customer-minded. One time, I put in a last-minute print order just 20 minutes before close. Despite my procrastination, they fulfilled my order quickly and even kept the store open for 10 minutes after close to complete the transaction. 2) On one occasion, I ordered a set of 12x18 fine art prints, but they didn't have any 12x18 backing boards in stock. So they gifted me a FREE set of 13x19 prints IN ADDITION to the 12x18 prints I ordered, just to ensure that I would have the proper packaging and backing boards for my prints. Since the packaging is part of the draw of paying extra for fine art prints, I really appreciated their forethought and generosity. I'm am absolutely delighted to have discovered Color 1 Photo, and would be quite lost without them at this point. I have searched high and low for the best print shop for my artwork, and I can tell you that Color 1 is, hands down, the ABSOLUTE BEST. 1) The prints are color true; and actually, this is the only shop - local or chain - that has EVER met this most vital criterea. As a professional artist, I need prints which will be exact duplicates of what is hanging on a gallery wall. While I hate putting anyone else down, I feel like this is too important to tiptoe around. If my computer file of my work is exact enough in color, contrast, and resolution to use on the cds I send to galleries to consider for shows, that file simply cannot be some ink-bled, dark blob (as is often the case everywhere else); it needs to run true in every way...and Color 1 has got this covered, regardless of the medium of the original, how many colors, or how complex the variation. 2) They have three beautiful paper choices for your work, many different ways to format depending on one's needs (border, no border, etc, and they're happy to help you through whatever you might need), and an extremely professional end product (board or foamcore backing and plastic bag come with the print, and I can't tell you how much stress that relieves for someone like me, who tended to shy away from prints because, before Color 1, they seemed to need so much extra work before they are ready to be sold in a gallery setting). 3) ACTUALLY AFFORDABLE. I cannot stress this enough. As an artist with no steady form of income and very little money more often than not, just knowing that I could run to Color 1 with what little I have in my pocket and receive a beautiful, absolutely professional print to then resell ... well, let's just say that I am never afraid or nervous to spend even my very last cent here because I know that these prints won't let me down. 4) Carl Cooper, the man who owns and runs the shop, is really, really wonderful. Sometimes I go in there not just with my very last money, but also on my very last leg, at my very last minute (ex: the day before a show opening), and in all states of artistic disarray. Carl has always been so patient, kind, and knowledgeable regarding all my strange questions and requests, and I can't tell you how important it is for me to know that this shop is really a place I feel comfortable running to - even without makeup on and a paintbrush holding up my hair! Besides, he remembers me from past visits, remembers my orders, and is exactly what I had always dreamed that a friendly, small shop owner would be in a small town...except that, wonderfully enough, he happens to be located downtown in a rather big city. 5) Thankfully for me, he's located mere blocks away from where I live and work, but this shop is less than a block away from the Pioneer Square Transit Tunnel stop, and, if you're driving, there's usually street parking nearby, or, worst case scenario, you might have to pay a few bucks for an hour in a paid lot. Word to the wise, avoid Seahawks and Sounders game days/nights, and you'll be fine...but then again, honestly, even adding in gas and parking expenses, Color 1 will still total less than a print at even the cheapest of good-ish quality chain printers-even Costco! My pro-tip is this: they're open M-F, and I know it's tempting to print elsewhere on the weekend, especially if there's an impending sale, show, or etc...but, and this has been a hard lesson to learn, it is not worth it. The last time I made the mistake of not waiting until Monday, I literally went to two different shops and spent a ton of money that I really didn't have in order to get two orders that I couldn't/would never use professionally. If you're looking for something right then and there for a sale/order and it's the weekend, just tell your customer that it won't be ready until Monday; not waiting in order to print at Color 1 is a mistake I will never make again. TL;DR - no need to look any further for greatness, Color 1 is above and beyond everything you could've expected or will ever need in every way. read more

I recently made an oil on canvas painting as a gift, and decided to get it copied to send multiple gifts. I needed to get it done in the week for various reasons, but many places told me that they couldn't reproduce a print to canvas in less than 10 days. But not Color 1 Photo. When I got ahold of Carl, he told me that he could do it in less than a week for me. While I was driving over, I noticed some flaws in my painting, with areas of white where the paint did not cover the canvas. A novice mistake. Not expecting too much, I asked Carl if he could touch up those areas a little. When I came back for my piece, the work he put in honestly made the copy look better than the original! At first, Carl was very helpful and patient in bringing me up to speed on 'art prints', and he turned out beautiful work. I thought I'd found a 'home' here. Really important to an artist like myself. Now, in less than 1 month's time, with over $200 paid already, he's insulted me, accused me of taking advantage of him - complaining of all the work he's got to do - and has opted to refund me (when I didn't even ask) instead of doing the work I paid for. Now, I'm stuck with having to tell my very patient client that I can't fulfill her request. Embarrassing. So, not only have I been severely mistreated, but my business is negatively-affected. I'm realizing what I had perceived to be relationship-building and business was actually a facade on Carl's part. It's a real shame. Color One is the only place I recommend to fellow artists. Carl is a very patient, friendly, helpful person that always makes a 100% perfect print for me. I have never seen the same quality anywhere else. There is no other place to go no matter how close to your home they may be. You may find bargain places and high priced places that promise to make your prints perfect and they end up to be garish and end up in a garage sale or the trash. I would never be able sell them at a gallery or exhibit. I had an original painting in one hand and the giclee print in the other and could not tell which was which and I am the artist!
