I cracked my gel toenail while on vacation in Carlsbad and wanted to repair it before it got too bad. I called ahead to confirm that Color Nails had DND color 594 and they said yes. The phone call was quick and the person who answered assured me they could fix the nail. I went the following day and was seated promptly. I explained that I wanted the gel completely removed and the toe repainted. The person assigned to me thought I had acrylic and I explained myself at least twice. The whole task was simple and would have taken eight minutes TOPS. I had a pedicure three days prior in my hometown, so I didn't need the rest of my feet done. The woman proceeded to not listen to me and filed the gel off and added a clear coat. She explained she did this all the time. She filed off too much so you can see where polish is missing. She dismissed my concerns and told me this was a better way for her and me. I told her she was right about it being better for me, but it wasn't what I wanted. She then told me no one else would see my toes, so I should be fine with it. I told her I would see the issue and it would bother ME, and that's all that matters. She laughed. In the end, she won because I wasn't about to argue with some random woman I would never see again and I was wasting time going back and forth while she spoke Vietnamese and complained. I asked how much and was prepared to give a $20 bill and bounce, but the best thing she need was not charge me for the fives minute ridiculous exchange we had. While this was a first world problem and relatively minor in the grand scheme of life, just note that if you come here, you MIGHT not get what you want and at least one nail tech will push back on what you want. Pros and cons: nice staff, no males Cons: overcharged me, no itemized receipt so have no idea what I'm paying for even when compared to the menu of services. Charged $40 for a little tiny child with tiny nails, no soaking ,scrub' or massage, not nice. I should have asked but it is embarrassing with a full salon. Didn't get the red polish off the nails before she pained them a pale white/pink even after I told her. She said it was "too late." Made me bleed, kept painting while bleeding. I went for a pedi and called ahead. I was taken fast. The girl that did my pedi was nice but was quiet the whole time, not sure if her english was very good. But that is not a big deal. The reason that I only gave 4 stars is when she brought out the scurber for my feet, I could see it had already been used. I quickly said "has that been used on someone else"? She first turned the file over where that side was clean...But I didn't have to say anything more and she went to find another one. I really didn't want to think about what else might be dirty. A lady filled our foot spas with water but only one lady was available. She kept saying 5 minutes. After 20 minutes we left since the other nail lady was nowhere near being done with another client. Been going here for nearly 5 years. Staff is super chill and they're all really nice, not sure what some of these other reviews are talking about. Beware they will over charge you above their listed price! Went in for mani pedi and paid extra for the deluxe package pedicure the guy did not bother to cut my cuticles nor did he scrub my feet even after pointing out the dry flaking skin he acted as if he could not understand me. He painted my nails while I had my Sandals On and ended up painting my shoe with polish it was so unprofessional then we proceeded to have my hands done when I noticed the terrible scaling dry skin on my feet and pointed it out; mind you I paid extra for this service; he says I would have to have my feet redone and pay for callus removal !! This place is a rip off! Beware in addition to the terrible service the selection on nail polish is awful the carry old China Glaze polish which is the cheapest polish you find at the 99cent stores, the bathroom and spa chairs are disgusting gross and they do not sanitize Anything!! Please be aware the Nothing is sanitized!! The chairs have old skin callus build up and nail sand everywhere I don't know why or how the women who come here can sit in someone else's filth! Poor customer service. I went in to have my gel polish removed--the same place I got the manicure. Midway through, they paused and took someone who arrived after me for a full manicure. After waiting 10 minutes, I asked if I could sit in a massage chair while waiting, but the woman at the front desk firmly said no. If they weren't going to take me first, the least they could do was make the wait more comfortable. Also, should were six empty massage chairs. Disappointing experience. read more

When I walked in and sat down i Immediately regretted going. I felt so uncomfortable as no one said hi and the lady never talked to me. I would try to tell her something and she would just nod. I assume maybe she didn't speak English. That made it hard to share when I was in pain! I have been in pain after some pedicures before but never on every single toe. My husband and I enjoy coming to this salon for pedicures together. The massage chairs are so relaxing and the staff are very friendly. They offer a great selection of nail colors and if you want to get something out of the norm, like a specific pattern, they're not afraid to meet or exceed your expectation. My husband always feels like he's walking on clouds after all the pampering and I always make sure to tip extra when he comes along since I know the technician has her work cut out for her! Haha!! My mother in law goes here once a month and loves Judy. She is attentive and careful and always listens to my MIL's requests/feedback. Today I took my 8th grader there for mani/pedi. 6pm appointment-no wait and done by 6:45pm. They did a great job! Prices are fair and location is great. Felt welcomed by everyone there. I asked for a simple mani pedi, the lady who did my nails completely botched them. When I asked why they had so many bumps they told me it was already too late to say something but when I had mentioned it while she was shaping them she told me not to worry about it she would even them out. All the nails are uneven and she got gel all around my fingers and never cleaned it up. Im so dissatisfied with the i professionalism after I brought it to her attention. She said she made them externally thick because I had short nails and that would help hold them on. So basically said she made them hideous for me . As my regular nail place is closed and I needed to get my nails done soon this place was able to take me as a walk in. The service was ok, but I had a hard time understanding the lady that did my nails. I wanted a forest green color french tip, and left dissatisfied. The filing was good but when it came to the french tip she did not curve it out very much and it looks quite unflattering. Disappointed to say the least as the whole thing cost me $50. read more

I've been going to Color Nails for years. It's clean, they are always friendly and welcoming even when they get busy, and they have a great selection of both regular and gel polish, and use high quality products. My manicures last longer than when I go to other salons. The "Royal Spa Pedicure" is my go-to pampering item when I'm in need of self care. (I'm a toddler mom - a 1 hour pedicure is as good as a vacation!) For the last couple of years I've been regularly making appointments with Kimberly, and she is absolutely fantastic, but all of the staff is good. My mom has gotten acrylic fills on a few occasions and has been really happy with the service as well. I recommend making an appointment on the weekends, especially later in the day, although they almost always have time for walk-ins. read more

I came here with some friends because of the convenient location. They had called ahead of time, but I didn't. All of us were able to get our nails done after about five or so minutes of waiting. I chose to get simple gel nails. They turned out nicely, however, my friend's nails were filed crooked. I probably wouldn't go here again. When I had my nails done, they hurt (a burning sensation) in the gel light. Also, the towels they used didn't seem completely clean. I've gone here several times and every time I forget why I go months without going here. The staff is very nice but their quality of work is just not great. I got a dip manicure a week ago. The next day one of the nails chipped. I went it to get it fixed, which they did without any issue. But then the next day I had 2 nails chips and actually break. I have never had a nail break with a dip manicure. I now have 4 nails that chipped or broke, when normally I can keep a dip manicure for a month without having any issues. I just will not be going back here again read more

I came here for the 1st time purely out of convenience as I was driving home and needed gas from Costco which was right next to it. I badly needed a manicure so stopped here. I was greeted right away and they asked me to wash my hands immediately which I appreciate. A Nail tech named, Mai took me right away. I appreciate that they wore gloves. Mai was friendly and sweet. She was VERY meticulous and made sure after every step (nail trimming, filing, and between coats) that I liked what she was doing. I've never had a manicurist who was that meticulous and detailed and actually took the time to make sure I liked her work. I wasn't just another client. I am very particular in how I like my nails done because I'm a professional baker/cake decorator so I need them to be a specific length, shape + have several coats so they won't chip as easily. Needless to say I need them to last:) She does take twice as long to get the job done so if you go to her, I'd recommend making sure you have about 1.5hrs and are not in a rush. However, I do appreciate the time and effort she spent which means she really takes her job seriously. She also took time with the hand massage as well. If I lived closer I would switch nail salons but unfortunately it's about 30-40min away but whenever I am in the area and in need of a manicure I will definitely come here and ask for Mai! read more

Saw an ad for this nail salon in the packet of advertising I received at my new place, and as my nails were screaming at me to take care of them, decided to give this place a try. I was really pleasantly surprised. They just opened a short time ago, so everything is new, clean, not smelly. The place is spacious and airy, and on the second floor above Corner Bakery Cafe. My nail person was Brina and she was just great. She had a very gentle touch and was pleasant and easy to talk to. She took me right on time and the mani pedi was done professionally and efficiently. The only thing that was a little uncomfortable is that the spa chairs have a solid plastic foot rest, rather than a padded one, like I'm used to. And, even with the towel on top, my feet kept slipping a little. Maybe the chairs are made for small Asian feet. Anyway, it wasn't enough to keep me away from here, 'cause I really liked my mani pedi and Brina was great. I went at 11:00 on a Wednesday and there were three other people. Not mobbed, very friendly. Good parking right out front. The spa mani pedi (no other additions) was $32. read more

Salon does not honor appointments. My sister and I were told to come back in thirty minutes after our scheduled pedis and then waited nearly another thirty minutes. During this time, people are coming in and each time the worker is telling them it'll be 30/40 minute wait times. Approaching the full hour mark, my sister and I left. They were apologetic and told us if we came first thing the next morning that they'd honor our appointment. I worked and my sister didn't have a babysitter so we weren't able to do that. Normally, I don't mind long wait times but this was very unprofessional. Similar things like this seem to happen often, which is disappointing as I feel the service is great! We came back a few days later without an appointment (what's the point of scheduling in advanced when salon doesn't prioritize appointments) and though we were together my service didn't begin until hers was completed which felt strange since we were together. I think it took 90 minutes for two pedis. Very unprofessional vibes but her pedi looked amazing!
