Set up an appointment online as a new patient and received a text message the next day from them stating they need my "ins" for "auth." Assuming they needed more insurance* information, I called the office to answer their questions. The woman could not discover my insurance to save her life, and instructed me that I needed to call my insurance and have them inform me, how to inform her, how to look it up correctly. I thought this was weird seeing as I found this provider from my insurance companies website in the first place, however I proceeded as asked. After an hour of being on the phone with my insurance company, they determined that nothing was wrong, the provider was in fact in network. They even called this lady, and informed me she insisted she has no way of looking my insurance up and required them to email all information about my policy. Collectively, with the advice of my insurance company, this woman who runs the office at this place is completely incompetent and it would be best not to trust my healthcare with someone incapable of doing their job. As a new patient I'm baffled that someone could not even care to simply figure out what they were doing wrong and force a new patient to figure it out for them. I'd gladly go blind for another month then deal with these people. Listen to the reviews, don't even bother. read more

The lady I talked to was not friendly and was quick to tell me they won't honor an eye prescription from outside their facility. I had just paid for an eye exam from the place I normally buy eye glasses from. I only come here because I needed safety glasses and my company uses Hoya which isn't at my preferred place. My last two pair of safety prescription glasses were from Colorado Eye Center and they used to honor outside prescriptions. I ended up paying out of pocket for safety prescription glasses from Lens Crafters which are way better quality frame wise than what Colorado Eye Center offers. read more

I had the unhappy experience of seeing Dr Metzger last week. I went in for a medical appointment and left knowing I will never return. I have never been treated with such disrespect by a doctor in my life. I couldn't even get a full question out before she would quickly and rudely interrupted me and shut me down with her quick, nasty, condescending remarks. She absolutely disregarded my thoughts on my own vision issues and treated me with actual contempt when I wanted everything documented in my record. My first appointment never made it to the computer so my first trip was useless. I called the second time to verify my appointment since I received NO kind of a reminder (text, email, phone) and the "gentleman" at the front desk accused me of not having my phone number in the system right. What?? I walk out of my appointment and almost get run over by an Optician sitting and pushing his chair backwards around his desk. And I won't even get started at the know it all attitude of the tech that took me back. Completely mind boggled by what I witnessed in what I used to resprctvas a professional office. Making an appointment online and getting severance nails about my appointment is no longer schedule and To reschedule my appointment after attempting to reschedule my appointment at the same time as my significant other and told that their system is a separate system than the appointments and I'll just have to wait 45 minutes or come a different day rather than get back to back service because it's too complicated for her to set up an appointment. Just a friendly warning. I went for a eye/contact exam as my prescription had run out. I had my exam and upon checking out saw an additional $125 charge for contact fitting, a service which I did not receive as I was happy with my current brand. I was told by staff that is the policy. I do not have optical insurance so the fact I was getting charged bothered me. I telephoned the Dr. and explained my disappointment which SHE explained that's the way it is however I could get a reduced charge to $60...AGAIN for a service I didn't receive. We've been patients at this clinic for years. The location is convenient, though it's on the west side of Washington which makes getting in their parking lot tricky when heading northbound during rush hour. I like that they offer Saturday appointments and take most insurance plans. They also take late evening appointments. Their selection of kids' frames is lacking, but their women's frames selection is really huge and constantly updated! read more

I went in here for a new pair of glasses. It had been years since I'd needed any, so I felt like a fish out of water. Once I found them--they are tucked into a medical complex with several other businesses. Their store was clean, well organized and modern. The front desk staff was professional and competent, and directed me to the Optician who was very kind and helpful in selecting frames that would complement my facial structure. They had a wide variety of frames and lenses to choose from, and were willing to answer all my questions about cost/product. I'll be going here again and will be directing all my friends. I been with Colorado Center for about 25yr never had a bad appearance, always felt well taken care of, I just purchased a pair of prescription Oalkey glasses the person helping me added everything but a cup of tea, when all said and done my bill was around $600 from ultraviolet purple which I didn't want to scratch- Resistant with out my permission then added triple bifocals which I never asked for, Colorado eye told me triple bifocals were on my last pair that was a lie, I payed all this money for my glasses and my eyewear is driving me crazy, how the hell do I get Colorado eye to make it right I'm 60yr old and Colorado eye Center totally took advantage of me. this has to be a scheme that is taught by their leadership team to push sales for profits, I cant even see right out of my $600 dollar glasses, what the hell was I thinking letting Colorado eye Center take advantage of me like that, I know their my Doctors and I trusted them, you better hope I don't get into a car accident at night this will come back on you, and yes I did ask for the specs on my last pair of glasses, I did not have triple bifocals. read more

Do not take responsibility for their employees screw ups and blame it on the customer. They had an untrained individual working in the area where you get your glasses adjusted and he broke them. Was told it was my glasses being old. I asked for the screw to be tightened and the tech decided in order to do that one most bend the arm and snap it. Had been a customer of theirs for YEARS and this is how they treat me. I would NEVER reccomend this place to anyone. Dishonest!!! Do not go here, even if you want to "use" your VSP insurance. An exam and new lenses cost $500 of which I was on the hook for $200 of it! They say they "except" VSP insurance but in reality you will pay the same if not more than paying out of pocket elsewhere without VSP. Their equipment should be in a museum it is so old, they still dilate your eyes which is not common practice anymore when they can use an optomap instead! But wait you have to pay $39 extra for that at this place! The exam cost me $50 even when I had a $10 copay. The reason for this was that $40 of it was for a "contact fitting." I was never told until after the exam that they would charge me for the "contact fitting." I where contacts maybe 10 times a year, I didn't even come in for contacts. They asked me during the exam if I ware contacts and if I would like some free samples. Later to find out I was being charged for this, had I known I would have said no, how dishonest!!! I asked why I was charged for this and they said I should "understand my insurance benefits better." This has nothing to do with insurance, it is that they are dishonest and sucker you into this by asking you if you ware contacts! I have never felt so burned in my entire life, I will go back to paying out of pocket from other providers. DO NOT GO HERE! read more

I have gone to CEC over 6 years, the doctors are fine and the staff have been very nice. The girls in the eyeglass center are rude, unprofessional and incompetent. The older gentleman that used to work there was great, helpful, knew what he was doing and knew how to treat people. Too bad the younger girls don't have a clue. read more

Just horrible! -They confused my initial appointment and cancelled it because I didn't show up (they had be schedule at 6am and they aren't even open). -I waited for 30 min before I was put into a room for another 20 min. -They dilated my eyes without explaining it would affect my vision for several hours. -They ordered the wrong frames, not once but twice. -The girl doing my measurements acted like I was such an inconvenience to her day. -The guy training her couldn't be bothered to act like I existed and was a paying customer. -On future follow-up about the problems I had, I was treated unkindly. -Needed my prescription sent to me recently and it was such a big deal to do this simple thing. -They couldn't be bothered to listen to me saying that the glasses were uncomfortable and to tight. And most importantly, I really hate these glasses! Don't waste your time or your VSP credits with these unprofessional dolts! read more

I had come down with Shingles on my face and around my eye and as per my physician went in to have my eye monitored. Used to see Dr. Mike - who left this practice so saw Dr Swalla, for my first visit. She was kind, and said my eye looked good, but to come back if I had any more symptoms. When my eye become watery and red, I called for a follow-up appt. and saw Dr. Lohmeyer. I updated him that I had tried to take two different kinds of antiviral medications which were discontinued (at the advice of my physician) due to severe allergic reactions. I also shared that I regularly get acupuncture and chiropractic treatments and mentioned that I was getting treated by them as well. Upon hearing this, Dr. L. scoffed and scolded me saying there wasn't much he could do and I should be taking the antiviral medications. I returned for my third follow up appt. when he declared that my cornea was affected and said my sight could be affected. When asked what I should do next, I got another scolding and shrugging of the shoulders. He prescribed a topical antiviral, but said it probably wouldn't work, so come back in two days and we'll see. With the amount of pain I was in and the sensitivity this condition has to stress - it was not helpful, and my pain immediately skyrocketed! I left his practice and once I got my wits about me, consulted an Opthamologist (MD) who did a much more thorough exam, and said there was no involvement in my eye, and that there was only the typical swelling and inflammation which was to be expected! My sight was not at risk - and he added that had I used the topical antiviral, I probably would have had a complicating allergic reaction in my eye too! He said it was more important to treat the pain to prevent the long term neuropathy, and actually did some electrical stimulation treatments that gave me immediate relief. Would not recommend Lohmeyer to anyone, though I guess he'd probably be ok just prescribing your glasses. Seems like he had some kind of inferiority complex about integrating alternative health practices, lack of understanding about allergic reactions, and insensitive bedside manner. read more

The Colorado Eye Center has been my eye place of choice ever since I started getting older and needing glasses. I have been to several of their locations over the years, the one on Washington St. is the closest to my home, I am still making a 10 mile drive one-way, it's worth it (I used to live very near them but moved a couple of cities away, I stick with the companies I trust and place my confidence int, the drive is nothing in comparison to that for me). I made my appointment a week or so out and was able to get a day and time that worked well for me. I received reminder emails and text messages, that even allowed for me to respond back whether I confirmed my appointment, pretty cool. I went in for my appointment, checked-in, confirmed my information, watched a short video on a new offering they have that does a video scan of your eye, it was $35 extra but who doesn't want to see inside of their own eyeballs, well worth it in my mind. I had barely sat down and was called back for my appointment. I was given the option to have my eyes dilated, or not, I chose to do it and I was fully informed about the effect on my vision, I forgot my Sunglasses and they gave me some disposable ones for the drive home, worked great. The Doctor came in a minute after the technician left my exam room. The Doctor was great, explained the new eye exam, discussed the health of my eyes and my new prescription, yes, my eyes are getting older. I opted to come back later the next week to get my new Rx glasses. Another satisfied customer, and excellent visit, no fuss and I was in and out in well under an hour feeling fully satisfied with my visit. read more

The Dr's at this facility are phenomenal. However, the majority of the office staff leaves much to be desired. Every time we go there is a billing error or a lack of knowledge on how insurance works... We go to pick up our items and are either given a refund or another bill because they made a mistake. Once, no big deal. Twice, kind of frustrating. EVERY TIME we go annually is enough for me to move to a new office if this isn't corrected soon... read more

I had called a month before my appointment wanting to confirm that they accepted a different insurance provider, as the new provider I was looking at had better coverage for glasses then my previous one. They told me they did accept it (UnitedHealthcare Vision). When I arrived I was welcomed by a condescending receptionist who spoke very snide to me, telling me she called multiple times wanting to inquire of my new Vision insurance provider. I apologized for not getting the message and took my seat as she called to check on it. After a few minutes I was told the insurance only covered my eye exam and not my glasses and I would have to go elsewhere to get them ( this would have been nice to know before I changed insurance providers). Naturally, the girl told me this much in the same manner she greeted me, snide and condescending. I honestly would not have cared much to get the exam there and get my glasses elsewhere if she had a bit more people skills than a pile of animal excrement, however that was not the case. The real shame is that in my 15 years of experience with Colorado Eye Center, I have found the eye doctors to be superb. Before this experience, I wanted to get my glasses there. But being that I work in a customer service position, treating people in this manner is inexcusable. It's a real shame with such great doctors that the staff treats people in this way. One should not have to go through a gauntlet to get to good doctors. Luckily , we don't have to. Northern Denver has a good selection of eye doctors so I will go elsewhere. I would recommend anyone reading of my experience to do the same. read more

The absolute worse experience I have had at an Optometrist. Initial visit was fine however when their frame broke under warranty, games began. An employee from the initial visit recorded the wrong frame so when they reordered the replacement it was wrong. Well I must have bought the frame somewhere else, no possibility that their employee made a mistake. One month later they still could not figure out what frame model it was. I spent 10 minutes on the internet and with the help of a Revolution employee was able to figure it out. It took me 10 minutes to figure it out and I am not the professional. Called them immediately and was told the order was placed. Two weeks later called again and was told the order was placed on that day. Well another three weeks and the frame finally came in. Really? The day I picked them up I was told the sun glass lens could only be given to me if I brought the old one back. Would have been nice to know before I made the trip, how about just giving it to me for the trouble? This is a service industry folks give you're hard earned money to a company that deserves it.
