All the doctors and staff have always been friendly, patient, and helpful. They're good with both adults and kids. WRT contacts, they've been uncommonly skilled with my husband's specialized contact lenses for his astigmatism. With previous eye doctors, we've always had to go back and forth a few times to get the lenses half-way right, but so far they've been pretty good at getting the prescription spot-on the first time. WRT eyeglasses, we've had mixed but overall good experiences. With our daughter, they didn't try to push glasses on her before she truly needed them. Lens quality has always been excellent. They don't have the largest selection of frames, but they will write you a prescription so you can go elsewhere. We recently bought some glasses and were later disappointed in them (partly because we should have done more homework before picking frames), but they redid the glasses for us in another frame, charging us only the difference in the frame cost since we opted for a better-quality frame the second time around. We were extremely relieved that they had a policy in place for this sort of situation...

My first quote- realizing it was a quote for just a medical eye exam and contact lens exam- was $420 ( Optomap wasn't included in that quote.) I figured that was really high cost wise. The exams themselves were fine. The Optometrist I had was fine, however, she never once mentioned other brands of lenses that I may be interested in. After all was said and done, I ended up paying $1245 for "top of the line" contacts, and exams. Dr. Rob had told me years ago to run it through medical insurance because it would be cheaper, and, it was. This time, medical didn't pick up a dime, and my VSP only covered $180 towards the lenses (originally $900...) and part of the contact lens exam. While I understand this seems more like an insurance issue, I can honestly say, I think they ripped me off bigly! Not even a discussion about lenses that would be cheaper or more budget friendly, especially seeing beforehand what my insurances would and would not pay for. I had seen that FVC was proud to offer "free" eye exams for schools, Disabled Veterans and another group of people. While I am not against this, "free" is a stretch. They know they need to completely overcharge their existing customers (I have been one for over 25 years now.. no longer!) for "free" exams. My Mother had her eye exam done today at Visionworks. Contact lens exam and yes, they have the retinal imaging scan, too. They charged her an additional $39 for that scan. After all was said and done for her, she paid $335 for her exams, retinal scan and a years worth of monthly lenses - also, I don't understand FVC's need to constantly push for daily lenses? I don't know what they have against monthly lenses. One last thing to mention about FVC and their bedside manner. My Mother and Father were also patients of FVC a few years ago. My Father had extreme rheumatoid arthritis and ultimately passed away from it , in January. When he saw Dr. Rob the last time he was there, it had been more than a year since his last exam. My Father explained to him because of his condition- needing infusions every month, his hands were completely warped from the arthritis and my Mother was doing everything she could for him, he told my Dad "That was no excuse for missing a yearly eye exam." Guess what? They never went back, my Father went elsewhere, he had cataract surgery, and was seeing 20/20 for the first time since he was 4 years old. To say I was irate after hearing Dr. Rob's comment to my Father is an understatement. You just lost another customer, Family Vision Center!
