I submitted a Yelp project to get a quote on installing a smart thermostat. Rick called me immediately and told me he was driving, so if I texted him my name and address, he'd get back to me in about 40 minutes with a quote. Sounds reasonable. So I texted him. And waited. And waited some more. After more than two hours of radio silence, I sent a simple "Hello?" Suddenly, Rick called me back sounding like I'd just sent him 47 texts, hired a private investigator, and filed a missing persons report. "Umm... I got your message. I'm going to have someone call you with a quote." Great. That's literally all you had to text me two hours earlier. Eventually someone called and quoted me $259 to install a thermostat. Not exactly a Yelp special, but fine. We scheduled the appointment for 10:00 a.m., and I rearranged my schedule to make it work. A few days later, Rick left me a voicemail asking if they could move my appointment to 9:00 a.m. instead. He specifically said to call or text him back. So I texted him back. Can you guess what happened next? If you guessed "absolutely nothing," congratulations, you've worked with R&A before. I explained that I couldn't do 9:00 because I had another appointment at 9:15 and had already moved things around for the original time. No response. Not a yes. Not a no. Not a "See you at 10." Not even a thumbs-up emoji. At this point, I wasn't sure if they were coming at 9:00, 10:00, or sometime during the next presidential administration. So I canceled. The funniest part? The second I canceled and pointed out that this was now the second communication failure, Rick magically responded almost immediately: "Okay. Sorry for the poor communication on our end." Amazing. The fastest response of our entire relationship happened after they lost the job. If their electricians communicate with each other the way they communicate with customers, I hope they don't work on anything that requires wires to connect.

I had Denver Railings and Metal Art design and install a railing in my bi-level home…read more They came out, measured the area, and we discussed design.  It takes about 6-8 weeks from paying the deposit to having the railing installed.  They tell you a draft of the design will be sent for approval prior to fabrication.  After about 4 weeks, I checked in since I hadn't received a draft yet.  I wasn't sure how long the draft would take, and my original sales person was very difficult to get a hold of after my deposit was paid. About a week later, they sent me the draft.  I had them change the placement of the railings in my entryway.  Since I have a bi-level home, there is a post that goes to the railing upstairs and a post that goes downstairs.  The draft had the posts staggered, which would look weird since they are right next to each other.  I asked the designer to modify the posts so they lined up properly, and he did. I then approved the second draft of my railing design.  Fast forward to install.  The guys came and installed it efficiently.  One of the installers had asked me a question when they were about 90% complete with the install, and I noticed the posts in the entryway didn't line up.  I asked him about it and told him I asked for that to be corrected during the design process.  At that point, they had already drilled through my tile entryway and wood floor stairs, so there really wasn't anything they could do.  The installer showed me the paperwork they had, and sure enough, they were working off of the original design that was NOT approved. I email the designer, my salesperson, and the owner of the company.  I asked if anything could be done, although I doubt it.  Never heard back.  Followed up with them again two days later asking the same thing.  Never heard back.  Not an apology, not an acknowledgement, not a suggestion to correct it, not a discount on final payment for THEIR error.   So, I paid my final invoice and now have a railing that looks wonky in my entryway.  Other than that, the railing is nice.  There are a few details I would change if I could, but now I know better questions to ask. The staggered placement probably isn't a big deal to them, but I paid a couple thousand dollars for this railing and would have prefer it to be correct. Overall, I think this company has good craftsmanship.  However, they lack attention to detail and have had poor communication and custom service, therefore I would not recommend using them.  Mistakes happen, but at least take ownership of them.
