Just wanna start with that I've seen Dr. Ruiz and she is a great doctor. Now, their scheduling is horrible at best. Came in for an appointment and was told that I need a surgery. Took the office about month and a half to schedule it and that happened only because I called and asked them. On the day of the surgery I was kept waiting in the preparation room for 4 and half hours so I asked the nurse what was the problem. I was told that I was scheduled as the last patient of the day so had to wait another 2-3 hours minimum. At that point I just gave up, asked the nurse to remove the IV and walked out. Waited 3 months for this surgery btw, but after fasting for 15 hours that was my limit and just couldn't take it any longer. So if you need a surgery you better off going to another place, because the office doesn't really have a grasp on scheduling and patient care. read more

I had anal condyloma removal and hemorrhoidectomy from Dr. Ruiz and ended up firing her 4 days into my post op due to the disorganization and rudeness of her staff and Dr. Ruiz's inability to listen and tailor post op care individually to her patients. I had been raped in the past and knew post op would be retraumatizing; I was looking for a surgeon who could be cognizant of my situation and work with me to ensure good recovery. I found Dr. Ruiz to be inflexible, unhelpful, and uncreative leaving me feeling like I had cookie-cutter care. I've never felt so alone and disregarded as a patient before. Below is an exhaustive recounting of my experiences. My 2 immediate issues post op were pain and spasms. I told Dr. Ruiz that I had a high tolerance for pain meds (including non-opiates) and a low tolerance for pain. I reiterated this every time I saw her and that dentists usually need to use 2-3 times the amount of numbing as usual. Also mentioned my past history of being raped and the resulting muscle spasms. She said some pain is normal and I said yes I realize that, but as a competitive athlete for over 25 years I know the difference between manageable and unmanageable pain. Day 1 and day 2 of post op and I'm writhing in pain. Sure enough, the day of, I'm unable to pee due to spasms. For 2 days, through the on-call service and, through the nurses, I asked Dr. Ruiz for either muscle relaxers or better pain killers (opiate or non-opiate) and get nothing back. On day 3 (Sunday) I went 18 hours with no response from anyone even though the answering service confirmed that doctors had received my messages). I decided to go to the ER. They recommend going through my surgeon who by this point was not helping. The lack of help continued... Finally I got a hold of Dr. Ruiz and ask for anything to help with the pain and spasms. I reiterated my high painkiller tolerance and she replied "I wish you had told me that earlier". This was the moment I knew I needed to fire her because I reiterated this every single time I saw her. The fact that she didn't listen, didn't remember, and was then blaming me for my current situation is the perfect exemplary moment of my interaction with Dr. Ruiz. She later tried to use the excuse of constipation. I replied that I'd been using Docusat, miralax, and milk of magnesia and was 100% certain it was spasms, not constipation. So I pressed instead on the relaxers. She said no to general relaxers because she was worried about "drowsiness". I said, I can't pee, I can't poop, and I have a 9/10 on pain scale, I don't give a f*ck about drowsiness. She didn't budge. Finally she says ok well what about Nifedipine (topical relaxer used for anal fissures), so I say yes just give me literally ANYTHING. She goes off for an hour, but can't find a compounding pharmacy to send it to. And I'm like how are you a colorectal surgeon and you can't find a place to send an Rx for of the first line treatments for a common condition in your field? I pleaded for literally anything, even topical lidocaine. She ended up prescribing me OTC strength lidocaine (which I'd already been using thanks to Amazon). Completely worthless. Please avoid making the mistake I did. If you're looking for a doctor who can come up with a cookie-cutter plan and stick to it, Dr. Ruiz is great for you. If you happen to be an outlier of any kind either before, during or after your procedure, I found Dr. Ruiz is completely unable to adapt to patient needs in real time. She did not work with me on anything. No creative solutions. No alternatives. No collaboration. I felt so alone during this process. Below are additional issues I encountered with her office staff: - During an office visit, the front desk was answering patient phone calls on speaker. Patient's names and their entire conversation were audible to everyone in the office, including myself and other patients (and I was in an exam room behind a closed door!). - For some reason, Dr. Ruiz doesn't take credit/debit card payments - It's one day before my surgery and I had received 3 different times (8:30 am, then 7:00 am, then 8:00 am) from 3 different people about my arrival time. I had to call the night before to confirm 8:00 am with a start time of 10:00 am. The day of my surgery, my arrival was actually 9:15 am. The procedure didn't start until about 11:30 am. - During the 4 days of my post op I only heard from Dr. Ruiz once despite asking for help multiple times. During that call she did not schedule a follow up. - Tried calling to confirm whether a test was ordered. Front desk lady got attitude. After being interrupted multiple times, I asked her to please listen to me. She literally said "no". Not kidding. I had to shout to get her to stop talking and ask if the tests were actually ordered. They were not ordered. read more

Dr Vukasin Takes advantage of depressed patients. Cuts them many times deforms there rear. And haves absolutely no success. I am going to a new doctor this year. I gave dr Vukasin a whole year. Had me unable to do anything. 4 surgeries and no success. He milks your insurance. Watch out for him!!! read more

I had many issues with this facility unfortunately. It all started whenever I called months ago to set up a consultation. I gave the young lady at the front desk all my insurance information and was quoted $130. I called back a week later to set up an appointment and confirmed that the consultation would still be $130. She confirmed but told me that could price could fluctuate slightly. Once I got to my appointment, I checked in and agreed to that same price. I only saw Dr. Garza for not even 15 minutes and we set up a surgery for the following month. A couple weeks later I received a bill of $226 which already was higher than what I was quoted. I called back and the young lady said don't worry that's not the official bill or price. Another week later I received a different bill of $117. Long story short, I was charged from the Dr AND the hospital. Not only was this not told to me multiple times I initially called or during phone confirmation and sign in but it was also 3 times the amount. My initial quote was the only reason I made the appointment. After weeks of trying to get an actual quote of my surgery cost, I ended up canceling because nobody from the office could tell me an estimated price nor would they call me back. I had a feeling in my gut that said I can't trust them with information, why would I trust them with a surgery? I never leave reviews but I had such a terrible experience with this office. Everyone was nice; however, they are extremely unprofessional in the fact they do not know the correct information to relay to their patients and not returning their messages/ calling them back (after they were told, "someone will get back to you in the next couple of days." Please save your money and stress and choose a different office that will be more transparent and understanding for you! read more

Dr. Vukasin was extremely rushed, impatient, and just not friendly. I went there for a very painful and private issue and his lack of sensitivity was just shocking. I have anxiety and was already very nervous about the appointment and after he left the room I couldn't help but start crying. When he came back in the room he had the nerve to ask me rudely, "Did I hurt you or are you just 'emotional'?" He made my anxiety level so high that the tears didn't stop until I got home. I would never recommend this doctor to anyone. Maybe he's good at what he does but his bedside manner is trash. The staff was very friendly though... I wish I had seen a different doctor in that office. Also, didn't get any relief or real plan of action for my issue. Was just told to go home and keep doing what I've been doing until it subsides. I hope he doesn't treat all his patients the way he treated me. Never going back. read more

I didn't get to visit this doctor but here is my opinions. All the ladies who answered the call are great. They will give you explanations of the billing and help you through the appointment. Only and the biggest reason I cancelled my appointment was they charge you (technically they will bill our insurance company) $600 EVERY TIME you visit the doctor because his office is in Glendale Memorial Hospital and the patient have to pay to the hospital for the visitation. There will be another copay depending on your insurance to the doctor itself. The lady said if I've already met my deductible, the insurance usually would cover 75% of $600. Which means you still gotta pay $150 +copay each time you visit them. Imagine how expensive it would be if you decide to have operation with them... Sad to know this after all the wait for my appointment but hard pass for me! read more

Although Dr. Garza was very kind, the billing process was a nightmare. In the Arcadia office they function under Arcadia Methodist Hospital so that means not only does the doctor bill you (in my case it was a $500.00 charge for 10 minutes of the doctor's time...which all but about $170.00 was covered by my insurance thank goodness), but you also get a bill from the hospital which my portion was close to $300.00 after insurance. This is ridiculous billing practices and it makes whatever positive I might say about the doctor really unimportant. Be very careful when using this facility. The billing is NOT obvious as they said when I called to complain, they were not in any way understanding of the financial hardship this could cause, and there is no clear explanation when you sign the stack of paperwork they give you before your visit. read more

Their impeccably clean waiting room with right down to the comfortable seating, cappuccino machine, giant saltwater fish aquarium, and... wait for it... validated parking!!! And as if all that wasn't enough, add to the mix, Rita at the reception desk to greet you with a warm smile and lovely sense of humor. I'm writing this review on behalf of my father. For him to come to me and make me write a review is huge. He's been suffering from horrible rectal pain, and tried to cure himself. After months he decided that it time to see a specialist. Hi primary care Doctor referred him to Dr. vukasin, but he wasn't available until December 21. This would be impossible for him since he'd been dealing with pain and discomfort for months now. When we called, the lady at the front desk was very nice and understanding, so she recommened Dr Carmen Ruiz. The lady was also very helpful in getting him an appt ASAP. My dad went to his appointment and he was very pleased with Dr Ruiz. She explained everything step by step and made him feel very comfortable. When he got back in the car he had dried blood all over his nose, he said they had to revive him as he wasn't waking up. Now when I go in to ask the doctor they kick me out, so they can lie to him and say it's "nothing" and two months before that my mother In Law FELL OFF THE TABLE IN TBE MIDDLE OF HER OPERATION. She's 80!!!! THEYRE NOT TREATING PATIENTS RIGHT NOW THAT PEOPLE CANT BE WITH THEIR SIGNIFICANT OTHERS. DISGUSTING DISGUSTING disturbing and the AMA is being notified. Seven years ago today I had major abdominal surgery with Dr. Garza to repair a severe rectal prolapse that I had suffered with for 10 years. She is an excellent doctor and this procedure improved my quality of life tenfold. I have gone on to have two healthy pregnancies since and I can't even imagine if I had not had this procedure. My mom just had surgery with Dr. Carmen Ruiz. She is fantastic and explained everything very clearly about the procedure that my mom was going to have. After the surgery, she called me and gave the most specific care instructions for her post-op recovery. A few days after, we thought we might have an issue and I called the office at 4:45 on a Monday. The nurse called my mom immediately to discuss and 15 minutes later Dr. Ruiz called her and diagnosed the issue. At our post-op appt. yesterday - we talked to her about another potential surgery that my mom might need (couldn't do at same time as this one) - and she thinks we can avoid surgery with a few OTC meds. They LIE to you and tell you the procedure will cost one amount and then numerous bills start showing up from various counterparts trying to bill you for the exact same service multiple times. Be very Careful about Dr. AnaMaria Garza. She wants to put me on all the new drugs instead of doing further tests to find out what is causing my conditions. Usually drugs should be the last resort. After I had a couple of tests done, she doesn't give you the results right away and makes you wait and worry. Dr. Garza doesn't think outside the box and is narrow-minded when it comes to further testing that may give an accurate diagnosis for better treatment. She is a very nice person, but not caring enough to take those extra steps in your best interest for top notch care. read more

Dr. Vukasin is a great Doctor. He is very detailed and specific to your needs. I would give him 5 stars alone. However the staff leave much to be desired. If you need more than to schedule an appointment, then you're in for a lot of disappointment and confusion. The staff clearly demonstrate that they are very limited with their scope of work. If you're not scheduling an appointment, you will receive dropped calls, and misinformation. They will put you on hold for moments at a time as if they're researching your request, only to return to the phone with "what's your name again" and "why are you calling", You actually will be asked, "what's that"? Huh, what did you need again? I encourage you to be your own advocate for your health. If you're so lucky to reach someone in the back office you'll be well taken care of, these nurses work closely with Dr. Vukasin and share his sentiment and since of urgency. However, reaching one of them is far and in between, roll the dice at your own risk. read more

Don't ever think of going to this hospital...I went for a diagnosis and i didn't receive any kind of treatment. Total time visited doctor was less than 10 mins. After the visit I received two statements 1) Glendale Memorial hospital and 2) from the doctor office. I was not even aware of this and I was surprised. When I called them they said it was mentioned in the policy that i signed(The policy was like 12 pages, how would i read through the entire document). They mainly wanted to cheat the patients(They should have explicitly informed me that I will be charged separately by Glendale memorial). I totally paid $800 after insurance for nothing, I am not sure how much they charged the insurance totally. If you have more money and if don't know how to spend and if you have any problems then go to this place. The worst experience I ever had in my lifetime. My friend asked her second opinion about her problem and received a good advice saving her from colostomy.
