If an old school steakhouse and sports bar had a baby, it would look like Bennett's Chop & Railhouse. The menu consists of some delicious steak fare and my medium rare filet, albeit only 6oz was a deal at $38, and boasted great grilled flavor. My dining companions enjoyed their bone in ribeye as well. The wine list is limited and lackluster with inexpensive options only. Service was efficient and no-nonsense. Lots of large TV's and great burger options that I will be back to try. This place is worthy of a visit for the right occasion.

The hubby and I were looking for someplace a little closer to home to celebrate New Years and we've heard great things about Bennett's so we decided to give it a go. We were so happy with our decision. This place has it all; seafood, steaks, salads, burgers, etc and martinis galore (over 30 to be exact)! Our crab cake appetizers were delicious and very reasonably priced! We decided on the New Years specials for our entrees which were very good and large portions so we were unfortunately too full to try the desserts! Our waiter was so fun and recommended some great things to try! The place is small but has a lot of seating and a great bar area. We cannot wait to return to try some of the regular offerings on the menu and some more of the delicious martinis!!

We visited for Valentines Day. What a neighborhood gem! It was hopping - and kind of loud.

I'd refer to this as more of a "hole in the wall" sort of neighborhood-ish place. Great customer service and friendly staff. Charlie's were fantastic! Bruschetta looked great, but tomatoes were a little mushy and not quite enough flavor. Bonus that they have a free shuttle to take you to concerts, etc. They have a small parking lot but it was full, however, we were able to park on the street (it was a quick walk). I'd go back!

This St Paul icon never disappoints! Went for dinner with three friends and every meal was awesome. We started with their soup to the day...beef stew. It was a creamy version of stew and the deep beef flavor was spot on. For dinner I had the pork chops with au gratin potatoes and green beans. The only minor this g about the beans is -there were very few on each plate! One plate literally had 4. I will add we could have asked the staff for more, but we did not. No bib deal and it did not take away from the delicious meal! We each had the drink of the day which was a yummy lemon spritz for only $5! Def recommend and thanks to them for being huge supporters of the St Paul Winter Carnival!

Great martinis. Easy diner food. The outside doesn't look like much. I think the food was just okay. I might be back for a burger for sure. Definitely a great place for a quick bite and the martinis are HUGEEEE I HAD A GREAT WAITRESS. Easy food. Great prices. Easy service. Happy discovery

We were craving some food and well white castle was not doing the trick so we made a trip to bennets. We entered the old looking divy establishment and were greeted promptly by the hostest. As we were quickly ushered to our booth we glanced at the walls with lots of photos and autigraphed memorabilia and then were seated. We ordered the spinach artichoke dip that i remember eating last year and it was not the same. There was a lack of salt and peper but the garlic bread it came with was very good. I washed it down with a fat tire then our fillet mignon arrived. We selected fries with it and payed the extra to upgrade these suckers. We also got their soup of the day and that was a wild rice soup. After 15 minutes of anticipation the wild rice soup arrived. Now don't he fooled by the size the little cup packs a punch and 20 minutes after eating it sinks down to your stomach like a snitch wearing cement shoes in the river. The steak came out next... it came with some corn and omg the corn had nothing on it but it was divine. The taste of butter coated my mouth followed by the sweetness. Then I took a bite of the steak. Now its not the best steak I had but mine was cooked good enough. The layers of flesh melted in my mouth like a canibal eating a corpse and the fries well I don't know even though loaded they were nothing special. Emma our server did a fantastic job making sure we had what we needed and unlike most places we did not have to wait ages to get our bill. Emma also made sure we didn't die of dehydration and kept us hydrated. She was very bubbly and social and strong indication that she has been doing this for a whole and based on her promptness and social skills I can tell she was a pro. Most of the food ordered was cooked to our liking and some items needed more salt and pepper but that's why they put it on the table. Over all our experiance was good at Bennet... Ohh a buss with snow flakes arrived and some drunk guy with a cape with large metal buttons that were bigger than a Texans belt buckle came in screaming that he was in the house followed by shots and stuff.. did I mention free entertainment and people watching!!

The tartare had so much flavor to it. It had a nice mussel aoilo that really brought it together. The crudo was great as well. Had a little spice to it but felt fresh to eat. Entree: we ordered the double cheeseburger and Poutine. Have no words to describe how amazing it was and I've tried burgers all over the twin cities. The patty was cooked medium/medium rare, with carmelized onions, pickles and mustard aioli. Every bite was so delicious and flavorful, how a burger should be. The poutine was also amazing! The cheese, gnocchi and ox tail was such a wonderful and unique combo. Dessert: we ordered the dark chocolate mousse cake. It was topped with whip cream and had a piece of chocolate on top. It was amazing! Chocolate wasn't too overly powering and the whip cream balanced it out. The service was great! Checked in how we were doing and asked if there was anything needed. We were seated at the bar, which was a little spacious, but could be cramped if there are others around. The ambience there was good! It is dim but still has enough light to look at the menu. Parking can be tough as well, but honestly the food makes up for it! I would highly recommend GusGus to anyone!

They have it right on their website that parking can be tricky, be prepared to walk. The inside has bar seating and the restaurant may be small but is overall bigger than expected. It's elevated without giving people in jeans the side eye. We started with aperol flavored Jell-O shots. They were certainly Aperol flavored and probably the highest class Jell-O shot I've ever taken in my life. I had the spritz on special which was dill based and I was in love. I could have had 17 of them, been rolled home and been in absolute bliss. I also ordered the spritz salato and it was an equally as delicious savory cocktail. For dinner we shared the chips with speck (3.5/5). The chips were a little oily, but I'm a sucker for anything with prosciutto and crème fresh. I had the beef tartar as my main. The bread slices are pretty big. It comes with two pieces and regardless of if you are going to share or not I found myself having to cut the bread into smaller pieces. The chips worked out well as a vessel for the tartar too. Everyone else for the burger and after a singular bit I understood the hype. It has to be a top 5 burger ever. I'm still thinking about the burger and it wasn't even my entree. I'll certainly be back!

The space itself is beautiful with a really cozy ambiance, and the patio is a great option when the weather is nice. The drinks are absolutely the star of the show. You can tell there is so much intention behind both the flavors and the presentation. The cocktail menu is super creative, and the Old Fashioned menu alone is phenomenal with so many unique options. The Beorn Old Fashioned was my favorite. We also tried the Payanello (pineapple, lime, ginger, pickled jalapeño) and it was incredible. Food was fantastic as well. The brussels sprouts were so good and a must order. Service was amazing. Our server was so kind, helpful, and gave great recommendations, which made the whole experience even better. It is on the pricier side, especially for drinks, but honestly worth it for the quality and experience. Reservations are easy to make and I would definitely recommend booking ahead. Parking was manageable when we went, but I could see it getting tricky during busier times. Overall, such a beautiful, thoughtfully done space with incredible drinks, great food, and top tier service. A perfect spot for a night out or just grabbing a cocktail and soaking in the vibe.

We also tried their new Irish Spice Bag, but unfortunately it wasn't a favorite. The dish was a little bland, and the curry sauce could have used more seasoning. From the hostess who graciously held the doors open for us in the 95° heat to our incredible server, David, everything was outstanding. We started with cocktails. I had what may have been the best bourbon Old Fashioned I've ever tasted, and my wife enjoyed a wonderfully refreshing cocktail (whose name I, unfortunately, can't remember). We began our meal with the roasted Brussels sprouts. Normally, I'm not much of a Brussels sprouts fan, but I happily cleaned the plate. My wife and I shared the 12-ounce filet mignon, cooked medium rare, and it was absolute perfection. Chef's kiss. David recommended a bottle of wine to pair with our steak. It wasn't inexpensive, but it was worth every penny. But wait... there's more. As incredible as that wine was with the filet, it somehow paired even better (yes, I know that sounds impossible) with the slice of heaven they call chocolate cake. I'm sure it has a much fancier name on the menu, but "slice of heaven" seems more accurate. If you've read my other reviews, you know I have a tendency toward hyperbole. If there were ever a time to lean into it, this is it. THIS MEAL WAS FANTASTIC. THE AMBIANCE WAS PERFECT. THE FOOD WAS EXCEPTIONAL. AND THE COMPANY WAS DIVINE.
