    Beef on Weck Sandwich
    Vincent N.

Pretty cool bar and restaurant lots of TVs to watch sports games. A good beer selection as well. Ordered the beef on weck and the buffalo chicken salad. The buffalo chicken salad was really good! Very refreshing the ranch and buffalo flavor was so good! The beef on weck came with fries, horseradish, and au jus sauce. The beef was pretty tasty along the the au jus sauce, but I couldn't eat the bun. It was topped with sea salt and rosemary which looked good, but it was just so salty. I know this is how it's supposed to be made but it was so salty that it was a pain to eat. I recommend using a lot less salt.

Decided to stop in here on a whim and glad we did! The elk burger was delicious! The flavors of the goat cheese and berry was soooo good. My sister got the steak sandwich special which was great as well. Beat my expectations definitely recommend!

We go to Colter bay from time to time as we live quite nearby. Their salmon on shaved brussels sprouts salad is one of my favorite restaurant dishes. Colter Bay is also the only place I've ever seen a scotch egg since the British fish and chips place closed down. Theirs is divine and I highly recommend you indulge in one or two. We were looking for a place for brunch on my birthday weekend and noted that Colter Bay had posted about brunch so we headed over to give it a try and we're not disappointed. I had shrimp and grits that were to die for. Creamy, cheesy, and full of perfectly cooked shrimp. The bf had a brunch burger that was a massive smash burger with sunny side up eggs and cheese and added bacon. Colter bay also has an impressive selection of beers and other drinks. And while I haven't had it many of my friends are in love with their Mac and cheese.

BBQ Chicken Sandwich and Brussel Sprouts

They did such an amazing job remodeling this place with all kinds of ski equipment to give it that nice ski lodge feel even when it's 85 degrees outside. Great selection of beers on tap and in cans they had their own Other Half drop, who does this?? Incredible!! Went on servers recommendation with the BBQ Chicken sandwich, delicious, just hold off on the lettuce as this was unnecessary. Oh those Brussel Sprouts Listen even if you HATED these as a kid please give these a try, they are all flaky and crispy and whatever sauce they put on there really pulls it all together. Great menu choices and amazing service makes this place a can't miss!

First time here, love it! As any Shatzel place you'll find a great attention to beer, great list and choices. Great location and vibe

Super cool corner bar, a block from my hotel. Low key atmosphere. Thoughtful draft list of 30+ handles. On the road, I make myself eat salads. This one, however: pure pleasure. Will be back!

Colter Bay is an Allentown staple with an impressive brew selection and a tasty menu! While I sure do miss meeting a crowd of friends for fun and drinks, the current sit down socially distance set up is not bad at all! You feel some sort of normal with the people inside but safely spaced, staff is totally masked and masks are required to enter and any time you are not seated. I think they are doing a great job with this! We strolled down to Allen on Friday and decided Colter was the perfect cozy setting to grab a brew and some snacks. Hostess seated us ASAP (there may be a wait if you come at busy times) and got us menus. We did have to wait quite a while for our waitress but she was the only one working so she was swamped with all the tables (at half capacity of course, but still alot!). When she did come by we got brews and ordered the firehole nachos, which came in an okay time frame (again a little bit of a wait but not her fault). The Brew Menu: MASSIVE selection of local brews, like very long pages of both cans and drafts which you can also order packs to go as well which is nice if you find something you really like. They have everying from a DIPA to a sour to a stout, from 4% to 11% there is something for every beer lover + local cider options, wines, and mixed drinks. This beer menu ROCKS and offers so much room to explore new brew options. The Nachos: this MOUNTAIN clocks in at $13 which is a great app size or good for 2-3 people in a meal. You can add a protein for like $3-4 but otherwise comes with thin and crispy house fried tortilla chips perfeclty salted, real melted cheese, creame, pickled reds, generous serving of pickled jalapenos, and cilantro. My only issue with this is the need for better nacho layering game here, no ones likes the naked chips that never get the opportunity to carry those beutufl toppings or melted cheeses... Colter will remain one of my fav places in downtown/allen area for solid brews.

Food - 4 Ambiance - 5 Service - 4 Price - 4 I got the Elk Burger, and it was excellent. It was a little more medium than I wanted, but it was very good. I would get it again. Actually, its exactly what I am going to get the next time. My GF got the Bison meatloaf, and that was also delicious. I love when a restaurant reinvents themselves to fit the times and serve the people that patron them. Colter Bay has done exactly that. They have one of the best beer selections in WNY, hands down. Prices for the beers are fair, and they now have Other Half cans that you can buy. I still make the drive to Rochester to check them out, but it's very cool to have a couple here in Buffalo. Great job on that CB. Now let's get some Equilibrium along with other hard to get good beers. As far as Allen, Elmwood and Downtown, go the vibe here is mad chill. Good music, people, food and service. You just can't beat it. I have been here twice now and they have accommodated us and the stroller. I love it when places allow you to come and enjoy them as a family. I should never feel like it's not a place for kids. No clubbing for me. Just dat grown man $hit. We will definitely be returning a ton & you should too. Don't be a stranger if you see us there. We will have a beer together.

    The French Connection. Yes, please.
    Nikki G.

This place has grown on me and I love it. It is cozy, homey, and comfortable. This is a great hang out spot. Stopped here for a bite during the week. I ordered The French Connection. Oh my goodness, it was divine. It comes with a bowl of French onion soup, a French dip, and French fries. Get it?! Ingenious! The beef was tender and done perfectly. The soup was very good, and the fries were average. The only thing that could have been improved upon was the temperature of my food. It came out luke warm. It would have been a five star experience if my food was hotter. I usually get the old fashioned here, and this visit was no exception. It was a very good experience too.

So glad that on the spur of my girlfriend invited me to go to hear some jazz piano on a Sunday night. Great way to end the weekend! Small group of silver-haired patrons. They look like relics themselves! The music was great. That atmosphere couldn't be beat. I'm coming back for more fun. Comedy, Celtic music, cartoons and bloody Mary's! I ordered the hummus and veggie plate. I needed a little something to go with my cocktail. I wouldn't come here for dinner, just for the vibe and the music. The bartenders are super friendly. 5 stars!

These are dark, dark times indeed...but somehow, Nietzsche's is a little beacon of light down at the end of Allen Street. From the exterior, it isn't hard to surmise that Nietzche's is a dive bar. Very much coated outside and in with writing on the walls, old photographs, weird relics that have been around for longer than I've been alive, you immediately forget what the sun looks like if you're going in in the daytime. But, that's okay. The people of Allentown will tell you that the dark is comforting...and you wouldn't want to see a place like this properly lit up ANYWAY... But don't get it twisted, what might come off as "rough around the edges" to some, this bar is absolutely one of the coziest, comforting dives and I'm always ecstatic whenever I get the chance to come here. They have a pretty decent variety as far as beverages go. Mostly tap beers, but they have a fridge with plenty of other canned stuff; my go-to is a cider, of course. A cheap PBR is my husband's drink of choice and has been for most of his adult life - and that's what we love about this place! The consistency!! Live music daily. Yes, daily. They literally have a calendar inside that will tell you every musician that has booked a spot that day. Sometimes it's just a solo guy playing in the front of the house, other times there's a full band in the back. Either way, you're going to get a totally unique music experience here, no matter what day you pick or what time you get there! I think they have snacks here?? I can't remember. After The Pink burned down we went to Nietzsche's the next day and they were serving up bagels and cream cheese. Totally unique experience. But I have eaten in this establishment before. However, this place isn't known for it's food, so I wouldn't rely on it. Instead, might I recommend the Jim's SteakOut down the street? Nietzsche's is owned by some pretty good people now, who are putting their heart and soul into keeping the business good and the music flowing for years to come. And I can't wait to go back. Rock on y'all.

Iron Works is an ideal venue in a lot fo way- not too big, not too small, and the perfect place for an intimate experience with a band you enjoy. Most recently we saw Caligula Blushed for their first visit to Buffalo. My other half has been a fan of The Smiths since forever, but we have stopped seeing Morrissey in concert. This was the next best thing to seeing Johnny Marr in concert. Great show, good crowd, not too crowded, and people were actually there to see the show unlike when we saw Nick Lowe at Iron Works and some people would not stop talking!! Post-pandemic, but also anytime, I have to say how incredibly wonderful it is to get fresh air during a show. The garage style door by the stage was open letting in some natural night and lots of fresh air on a cool night, which is really perfect for a show. I'm over crowded, stuffy, hot, and dark. The opening leads to an adorable patio with lots of tables, chairs, and string lights. There's a platform with seating and a little balcony with seating. There are lots places to set your drink whole dancing as the platform and pillars all have ledges. There are two selve-serve water coolers, which is also great to see. I tried a summer cocktail - a Loganberry Dirty Shirley, which was super sweet but that's what it's designed to be. A Coke was $3 and the cocktail specials were $10. Mocktails are $8 and there are other n/a offerings as well, along side beer, liquor, and what have you. They have a garden burger and fries on the menu, in addition to other meat and cheese foods. Tickets to this show were $12, which is so reasonable for a night out. This is more fun than going to the movies and should definitely be a go to if you want to get out of the house. Fresh air, water, seating...all this sets Iron Works apart. If you haven't been, go, and of it's been awhile, go back. My other half was reluctant to go out but was so glad he did.
