Great food and service!! Not super big inside but we were seated in a booth on a Friday night as soon as we walked in. They had some Oktoberfest specials so I got the Wiener schnitzel which was lightly breaded veal with gravy and came with red cabbage and spaetzle, it was absolutely delicious, and I'm German so I've had it many places, this one was great! My husband had the beer battered fish fry and his mom had the beer battered shrimp dinner, both were great but the shrimp were so unique and really tasty so I'd say try them if you get the chance! Went to dinner here at 6pm on a Wednesday. The establishment is a smallish one story building with an attractive partially covered patio and a private parking lot that holds around thirty cars including one accessible space. The interior is that of an attractive neighborhood tavern. There are around nine tables as well as bar seating. We entered through a small vestibule with fancy double wood and glass doors and joined another couple already seated in a booth overlooking Abbott Rd. The restaurant was moderately busy with a staff of three (cook, waitress, bartender) serving the patrons. The waitress, Lauren, warmly greeted us and took our drink orders. I ordered a Guinness on tap, others ordered a bottled beer, red wine or mixed drink. The drinks were served within eight minutes at which time Lauren took our food order. The drinks were as ordered and satisfactory to all. I ordered ten wings (single) medium while my wife ordered a burger with fries and a small salad. The other couple each ordered a steak sandwich. The food orders were served fifteen minutes later, exactly as ordered. My wings were crispy and tasty. The burger was ok with crispy fries. The other couples steak sandwiches looked good ( maybe next time). Our salad was simple but fresh. Lauren was attentive and pleasant. They only accept cash for payment. The crowd there appears to be mostly regulars that seem to have a sense of ownership, a man standing at the bar near our table spilled part of his beer on the floor and immediately went and got a wet mop and cleaned the tile floor. So disappointed. The fish fry looked amazing when it came to the table. It was the worst I have ever had. Mushy and flavorless. It tasted as if it sat in water all day. However the butter parsley potatoes were very good. They also only had 1 server, serving 9 or 10 tables during peak dinner (6:30p) . When you are here you feel like family. After a long day I needed a good comforting meal. I walked in and was warmly greeted by the owner and was served in a timely manner. I was in no rush at all and could really just sit and relax and the place allowed me to just soak it all in. I am in upstate New York so I had to get some Buffalo Wings to add to my wing tour and theirs are among the top. Perfectly crunchy with a good amount of sauce that doesn't leave you too thirsty. I got the special panini and it was incredibly satisfying. The meat was juicy and not chewy at all. The bread was not too crunchy and added good texture with the meat. I have never had a bad lunch or dinner here. The owner is awesome and accommodating. The food is always served piping hot. There are daily "specials" and a nice sized menu. The staff is friendly and helpful. If you've been here a few times, they'll remember you and what you usually order. Bring cash. No credit cards. It is a typical tavern restaurant: a few booths at the front and quads further back. It is a smallish space - cozy. There are a couple tables that will accommodate 6 or more at the owner's/management discretion. (Like I said, he tries very hard to be as accommodating as possible.) Friday's, especially during lent, are jam packed probably because the food is so good. With that said, parking in their lot may be an issue on those Fridays. Wow, I was pleasantly surprised by this place. I've driven by this place hundreds of times and never stopped in, but was recommended to come here by a colleague. You walk in and there was a bar and some booths to the left. We sat in the furthest back area as we were there with my Mom. The music was way too loud, which was annoying. I did ask them to turn it down and it was still really loud, which I found odd because it didn't seem like there was any need for that. We enjoyed a crock of french onion soup which was delightful. Plenty of cheese and bread and a nice flavored broth. I split the turkey club, which they used real roast turkey. It was more than enough even splitting the sandwich. My sister ordered the chicken satay with sauce which was very good. She thought it was spicy, but I did not. The waitress was good. Looks like they might have a nice porch in the summer. I should've left... On to food, order peppers, no peppers ok French onion soup, bitter and sour tasted weeks old.... My broiled fish, well it must've been broiled for an hour cause it was hard as stone tasted bland.... Asked for fries was given soggy red potatoes I wouldn't serve this shit to death row... I threw a 20 on the bar in good faith and got the heck out Also the cook should have been wearing a mask... Edit: So I went back and took a picture of the Person who was supposedly the owner he Was wearing no mask, I took his picture and left. He Then chased me out and physically assaulted me and demanded I paid for my tab. We had a great time at the bar and eating apps. The bartender (I cant remember his name, his Uncle owns it and he's a firefighter and bartends on the side) - anyway he was really great. We came in on a quiet Monday after a family funeral over the weekend so we were all ready to unwind and visit a bit with each other. Wife got a recommendation to check this place out. Was definitely happy with our meal here. Atmosphere is like a cross between a pub and Italian restaurant, with some yellow walls that brighten the place up with a lively feel. We sat in the booths up front but the patio looked especially nice, not very big and was full with only tables in sun left. For food we tried 3 things their burger for my son, a pot roast panini special for wife, and I the bleu raspberry steak. Steak came with a soup choice, I got the french onion also a potato choice which i got the butter parsley. Fries with both other orders. I think you can judge a place by their french onion soup and this one was good. So credit there. The steak itself was only OK though, ordered because it came with bleu cheese crumbles and a raspberry brandy sauce. But the butter potatoes literally left a big pool of butter on my plate to which the steak was then in, so couldn't taste to much raspberry brandy sauce. Was only cooked OK too, would like a little more char outside and rare in middle. If you like lots of butter potatoes were good. For $13.95 I'm not really complaining about it, but was my least favorite of the three because the burger and pot roast panini were phenomenal. Burger is totally homemade style, cooked medium well to perfection with slight char on outside but still moist in center. Panini was super tasty pot roast with with the crunch of the panini adding to the whole flavor. Other bonus was some good beer on tap (Got Brooklyn Brown for my meal). Also Service, I think there was one waitress working about 6 tables and she was on point for our whole meal. Great wings, great bartenders every day of the week. This place has character. The people who show up there to drink are good people. Owner Chris will always have dinner nice words with you. Wings and the sauce are very special, however, the rest of the menu is just as good (especially the fish fry on Fridays).
