This is a fun place for a decent meal. I'd rank Colton's over Chili's or Applebee's for sure, but this is by no means fine dining. If you've ever been to any of those "Roadhouse"-type places, you know what Colton's is like. Good variety of food, with an emphasis on steaks, chicken and burgers, shelled peanuts for snacking, bottomless baskets of addictive rolls, huge portions. I had a small sirloin (decent) with a sweet potato side (the sweet potato was bigger than the steak, and served with tasty cinnamon/sugar butter). Service was great - personable, friendly waitress, and the manager came around to ask folks how they were doing. Decor is pretty hilarious - lots of cowboy-themed stuff, complete with several mounted moose/deer/bison heads. A perfectly good, slightly nicer than normal, meal in Rolla. read more

We went to Colton's Steakhouse & Grill at an odd time, so we were basically the only people in the whole restaurant. That was around 3PM. Since this is a steakhouse, this review will mainly focus on the food texture, if it was cooked to expectation and presentation of the dinner as a whole. I ordered a humble 6oz. Sirloin steak with 2 included sides, The meat itself was cooked perfectly, the photo model of a medium. I found that the steak was pretty plain in terms that it isn't seasoned at all at the grill which I don't exactly enjoy but it was acceptable considering steak sauce and pepper were readily available. The salad was better than most restaurants I've experienced in Rolla, including more veggies such as onions, tomatoes, carrots, cheese and different types of lettuce. The fries were genuine, you can really see they cut them themselves, they were also well made. The steaks texture was actually perfect and exactly cooked to medium like I requested, the service was very kind and fast, however this may be caused by the fact we were there at an odd time as stated above. This review is a 4 star rating for Colton's. It is a fancy Steakhouse and has great interior appearance. The food is acceptable and presented neatly. I can suggest you to go here if you want a nice steak in a nice environment. read more

we were seated at our table. waited at least 30 minutes before anyone helped us or notice we had been seated by the hostess. they weren't busy. once our ordered was rushy taken, he constantly forgot everything we had asked for. then after 45 minutes of waiting for our food, he informs us that our food was out in hold and he forgot to tell us. once it was pushed back through, it took another 30 minutes. worst service we had ever had in Poplar Bluff, Mo. we didn't even eat our food there, we ended up sadly paying $53 for horrible service and taking the food home. drove an hour for food just to regret it read more

Top notch ! 10 outa 10. Service: excellent & attentive server. We got lunch entrees...the steaks were incredible..seasoned and juicy. The small loaded fries was huge, enough for our party of 4. Homemade house salad dressing was fantastic. Warm buttery rolls soft as a pillow. Get the Mac n cheese it's to die for. Sweet tea was perfectly sweetened. And the prices, just can't be beat. Awesome service Jenny was our waitress she made our visit awesome we are from San Antonio Texas visiting my son at FLW. She answered our questions gave us fabulous service. We visited the next day with my son and his new fiancé and she remembered us and again greeted us wonderfully and recognized their engagement and shared with the restaurant. We will totally return when in Missouri and we will continue to recommend Colton's in Rolla highly to the other SITs family members on Facebook. The Website said the opened at 1030. I pulled in about 1045 and it was still closed. Didn't open till 1105. I had a bacon cheeseburger not totally impressed lack of taste and only 2 pieces of bacon. Awesome place for if you want a steak but don't want to spend a lot. 8.99 sirloin with a side until like 5:30. They have awesome rolls as well to snack on while you wait. Their nachos are pretty good as well. Servers and hosts were very nice and always make you feel welcome and the food comes quick and hot. We had family in from Texas and had a reservation at another restaurant for a party of 30. We showed up to that restaurant and got told they didn't have room for us they got too busy. I called and was told in an hour they would be able to get us in. Come to find out they cleared a private dining area for us. The young lady that was our server was gracious enough to return back to work just for us. When we showed up early they allowed us to sit in the dining area out of the heat and brought us rolls and water until our server got there. They were all amazing with us and our circumstances. Last minute they went above and beyond when several other places said no. I wish I could remember our waitress's name because she so deserves for everyone to know just how wonderful she was and grateful we are. Thank you to this team! Colton's Steakhouse & Grill was a great restaurant for my family. It has something for everyone from chicken, steak, pasta, sandwiches, seafood and burgers. The atmosphere was great and the service was excellent. The kids, as well as my husband, truly enjoyed looking at all the different decorations and animals. Over all our experience was very enjoyable. I would recommend Colton's Steakhouse to anyone. They only Con I have is the lighting. I believe because it has a very rustic feel they try to use very little lighting and what lighting they do use is very dim. This wasn't a problem for my family, but I could see where it would be for others. In that case I would just request a seat by the window. read more

First time at this location and am very impressed. My wife and I had the 18oz T-Bone with sides. Mine was perfectly medium rare, and my wife's medium well was a little more well than expected but nothing to complain about. Reading the reviews about the steaks having no flavor is a mystery to me because I haven't had a more mouth watering tasteful steak that I hadn't grilled myself in years!! The staff throughout were always smiling, friendly and courteous. Danial was one of the best to take care of us in a long time. Not too friendly, yet very engaging. We have decided that this is our new go to place for informal gatherings and a quick night out and will be looking forward to every visit!! The only negative would be that the time between appetizer and salad was about 10 minutes too quick. Yet I'm glad that I didn't fill up on the onion blossom so that I had room for my steak!! First time I sent there in the the yard I have lived in Rolla. I appreciate the cleanliness and hospitality, however it was empty and not much going on. My waitress came around enough but that was it. What really got me s the food quality. My ribs were raw and not coming off the bone and me and my wife 's coleslaw was rotten. From the outside Colton's seemed pretty run-of-the-mill so I was never too eager to try it out. But my husband convinced me to go ahead and go out to dinner with him this evening to see what it was like. I have to admit when I walked in I was a lot more impressed than I expected to be with the decor. It was obviously pretty kitschy considering its a "Texas" steakhouse, but none the less I kind of liked it. We got a bucket of peanuts when we sat down so I would advise anyone with a nut allergy to beware as Im sure there is peanut dust everywhere. The sweet tea was nice and fresh and not too sweet. The hot buttery rolls were way too good to pass up and our fried mushrooms tasted fresh and crispy. We were quite enjoying ourselves by the time our entrees arrived. I ordered the Loaded Chicken which I was pretty satisfied with. The bacon was a little over cooked and Im not sure I liked the grill flavor on the chicken, but overall Id give it a B. My husband however was none too pleased with his 10oz ribeye, and that is to say nothing of the situation when we brought it to someone's attention. There were at least five half-dollar sized gobs of fat throughout the steak. The majority of it was inedible. I could safely say it was the most disgusting, unappetizing, flat out poorly cut piece of meat Ive ever seen. My husband was a trooper and tried to pick his way through it until he just couldnt take it anymore. He actually put STEAK SAUCE on the steak. Which is something I havent seen happen even once in the ten years Ive known him. In his words "it is a sin" to smother a good piece of meat in cheap sauce. Another thing I have never seen him do in 10 years is complain at a restaurant. When even the steak sauce couldnt disguise this travesty, he decided he needed to say something. We didnt want to get anyone in trouble, or make a scene, or refuse to pay, but the problem needed to be brought to someone's attention. Having been a waitress myself, I felt for our server when she came to ask if everything was alright. You never know what kind of customer you're going to get. With half the steak left on the plate he politely told her that he was finished and that he was unhappy with the quality of the meat. She was nice as could be, as she had been all night, and said she would be right back with a manager since she was new and wasnt sure how to handle a complaint. When she came back with a manager a minute later my husband repeated the issue. The managers response was completely unapologetic. He said that it was just the marbling in the steak and that they couldnt control the marbling but he would be willing to make us another. We said that it wasnt necessary and we just wanted to let someone know. He went on again about marbling and then said he would deduct the meal from our check. We werent angry before, but now we were definitely pissed. The managers attitude was very much that there was nothing wrong with the steak, we simply didnt know what we were talking about, and were most likely just angling for a free meal. Im sure I dont need to explain that my husband and I have had our fair share of steak and are quite aware of what marbling is. This wasnt marbling. Also, when the manager brought the check over he said he had decided to only take the price of the steak off of the check, since the baked potato and shrimp were eaten. Haha! Ok, man. We didnt ask you to take ANYTHING off, but to offer to take care of the meal so we "had a good experience" and then come back and renege on it? It was absurd. So we took the extra cash and gave the waitress a generous tip, lest the manager think we were just cheap hillbillies looking for some free steak. Terrible, terrible, free steak. Needless to say, we will NOT return. read more

Ordered the ribeye, received a 4 inch wide, 1/2 inch thick of what really looked like flank steak, fairly well done for a medium rare order. Half of the "steak" was fat, thick globs permeating the breadth of the dinky little uninspired piece of meat. The waitress was breezy, always seeming to stop by while we were in the midst of a mouthful. Since I was the guest of an easily upsettable elderly aunt, I didn't complain - my fault - but I can guarantee that I won't be back.
