They never open on time in the morning. They are supposed to open at 6:00 A.M. I've gone there on several occasions after 6:00 and they still aren't open! I see people coming off the interstate sitting in the parking lot only to finally leave. We have to go up the road to the Waffle House instead. Passing by and looked for a place that my picky eater would love. I flinched coming in, because the lobby reeked like cigarette smoke, but luckily the dining room looked and smelled clean. Cute light fixtures over the tables, and all of the diffusers in the ceiling were spotless. The bathroom did look a little bit shabby and dated compared to the dining room, and bad tile and grout work made weird puddles instead of letting mop water drain properly. But everything in there was clean (and smelled good), so no shame on the staff. Host and server were super friendly. Our server checked in just the right amount. I got the super bird and my son got pancakes with butter (he's not into syrup). I hadn't had a super bird since college. It was pretty good. Crispy grilled bread, turkey, tomato, cheese, whatever else. The tomato slices looked like they came from a good fruit, not mushy. In the fruit bowl (99¢ upcharge from the fries), the bananas were perfectly ripe, and so were the grapes. The cantaloupe and strawberries were a little underripe, but I just sprinkled them with a packet of Splenda and let them sit while I ate my sandwich and it worked out great. It's Denny's. Walked in, the host seemed pretty rude. We waited about 20-25 minutes for our food, no biggy. Sent mine back because I thought with the bourbon chicken they would put the rice on the side. I told them no veggies which they did & potato's are okay. Sent back my order because they put the brown rice on the skillet, SOAKED in the bourbon sauce (I'm not a saucy person) and no potato's. They remade it. Which all they did was scrape the rice on the skillet and probably threw it away. Put rice in the side and added the potato's to the skillet. It was fine by me, gotta do what you gotta do. When I ate one chicken, the last bite. I spit it out. I couldn't take it. It just had a weird flavor too it & usually I would eat this meal up at other locations but this certain location.. it was terribly made. Spent about 5 minutes in the restroom just gagging and puking. The sweet tea is not that sweet either. We asked to speak with the manager. Placed an order online today 6-6-25 to be picked up at noon. I was early so it wasn't ready and that was understandable. When I had gone inside to pick it up, the hostess grabbed a menu and when I explained I was picking up an order, she walked away and didn't say anything to anyone. A few moments later, I found another employee and asked him about my order. He told me 3 minutes. Food arrived and when I got back with it, it's wrong. The only thing correct is the pancakes. I wanted my eggs over easy, they made them hard, I wanted bacon, they gave me sausage. I requested that utensils and napkins be placed with the order, I had no utensils or napkins. Ahh, Denny's! A little slice of home while I visit Missouri! I was very excited, because the featured menu item was Eggs Benedict. I was excited to see that on the menu. Alas, we weren't able to order because it's only served in the morning. We strolled in at 3 pm. Needless to say, there was no eggs with Benedict for us. Instead, I ordered an omlette -- ham and swiss with pico de gallo. What I got was ok, but I was expecting something different. The pico de gallo was some diced tomato and some onion thrown in the omlette. There wasn't any of the other stuff that makes what I think is a good Pico. I took away a star for that reason. On a more positive note, my coffee cup was never empty, and the waiter was very on point. As a girl from Seattle, I was happy to find a Denny's so far from home. It's a Denny's, what else is there to say? A bit disorganized and chaotic but fine, affordable with good food. If you are here for breakfast (I've been twice) I recommend the chorizo, as it's actually pretty good. No real problems with this Denny's, would recommend for breakfast. read more

I was ok with the food ,but the atmosphere was horrible on Sept. 13th. The people seemed annoyed at the management and I had to look at 4 dirty tables as all the staff gathered arou8nd a table and chatted. all the staff except 1 cook was sitting at a table socializing with one anoither. I'll start off is this is a Denny's so my expectations were not too high to begin with. This one however failed to meet even those expectations. The waitstaff was the only high point as they were attentive but overwhelmed by the number of people the two waitresses were trying serve. Now for the low lights. The place itself was dingy dirty that hadn't had a face lift in years. The glasses and dishes had visible chips and still being used to serve customers. Then there was the food. Mostly over cooked with portions either minscule or ginormous. However since it didn't taste good it didn't matter. I had blueberry pancakes the were the consistency of a rubber band and the blueberries tasted like they had been pulled from the freezer, microwaved the mixed in to the batter. Very untasty. It came with a side of bacon that was suppose to be two slices. The bacon was over cooked and shriveled up so the two pieces barely looked line one. The over easy eggs were cooked well but flavorless. The hash browns were basic and unseasoned. Overall if you are traveling down 44 and looking for breakfast....don't stop here. read more

First of all kudos to our server, Jessica. She is the queen of multitasking. She literally was the only server at the time and was seating people, taking orders, payments and running food. Where was everyone else? Who knows. Food came out fast and coffee was continuously refilled. The bathrooms were clean which is always a plus. I built my own Grand Slam and my only complaint is the bacon was super lame. It was paper thin and my husband got one and his second "piece" was literally an inch long. Highly do not recommend this place! We made a reservation for 8 people at 11:30am and left at 1:30pm due to crappy service. The server was quick to take our drink orders, but actually brought them out about 15 minutes later. We ordered our food that took about 45 mins to get out, but only brought half of the table their orders. The rest of us were sitting and watching them eat for another 20 mins until the server finally brought out the other half of the food. I got biscuits and gravy..... the biscuits were so inedible and so hard that I couldn't even cut into them. If you think about coming to this place, please reconsider. Very disappointed. read more

As Denny's go, this one is pretty good. Driving half way across the country limits evening choices, but this standby stays open 24/7. The new theme "America's Diner" comes with new pancakes, now made with real eggs. What did they use before? Surely they could have found a less obvious way to announce using real ingredients. The standard decor has not changed in forty years, and, of course, the noise in the prep area and chatter on the kitchen is pretty cute and rather disturbing at the same time. I think they are trying to make my late night breakfast. This may take longer than it should. My water glass arrived with a small crack in the rim, so I got a new one accompanied by numerous apologies. I was asked three times how I am doing. Its 10 oclock, I just drove all day, and I probably look like I have been raked over the coals. I said "fine." I guess I missed an opportunity to unload. Now I was just asked if i enjoyed my meal, which has yet to arrive. I have written this much review and the meal (longest cooking item, as prepared at Denny's) is about five minutes). They had time to make fresh bacon and fresh sausage. The eggs came out at medium well when I asked for over easy, I am sure thos was primarily a result of time under the heat lamp. The fluffy pancakes had developed a strange, tough crust. They remain fluffy in the middle, a yet to be explain phenomenon. Under any other circumstances, this meal would have gone back. Truthfully, the manager person who brought it out should not have done so. She should have directed the line cook to remake the order. But I am tired and need to walk back to the motel. Maybe this was the plan. Screw with the "one of" customers? Thanks, Yelp. Why does this place have four stars? I can only surmise that things must be really bad in Rolla. We showed up at 8 AM with our party of 7 people and they quickly slid 3 tables together and brought us menus. We were still waiting for our Son and His Girlfriend -- so we all ordered beverages. Iced Tea, Hot Tea, Coffee, Lemonade Iced Tea. Then our Son arrived and they got a Soda and a glass of Milk. We needed a few minutes to decide -- so "Sarah' came back in about 10 minutes. I was tempted to order one of their salads, but then spotted their "Build Your Own Grand Slam' -- where you can select 4 items of your choosing. No two people ordered the same thing -- and she got everyone's order correct. Our Son didn't like what he selected, but that was his fault for choosing something unusual -- he didn't eat most of it. I am not a Breakfast person, both my Husband and I detest eggs! So I got a bowl of their Seasonal Fruit, Hash browns, an English Muffin, and Grilled Ham. My Husband got Pancakes and 3 orders of Bacon. Our Daughter got Banana Pecan Pancakes and Turkey Bacon. Our Son-In-Law got Banana Nut French Toast with Hash Browns. Our Son got some kind of Hash with a Brat (which he disliked). Hus Girlfriend got a Belgian Waffle Slam. Me Husband's Ex got the "All American Grand Slam'. I was impressed with the speed with which our order arrived. Sarah and two other Servers brought our orders and she remembered who ordered what. We gave her a 20 % Tip. My only complaint was that the Iced Tea was stronger than I like -- but that's a personal opinion. What I thought was nice was the Coffee Drinkers were offered 3 different types of coffee. Hubby usually drinks an entire pot before work -- so he ordered the BOLD blend. He needed the caffeine!! Much needs to be said about Denny's. When they reopened a few years ago I wasn't happy with what they had to offer. I use to work a Denny's in Rolla when they were opened on Bishop. The service was horrible and it lacked everything. Aside from the hiccup of a restart the place is amazing. The super bird is my favorite. With a side of homemade ranch can't be beat. The cheesy broccoli soup is also truly amazing. Build your own grand slam is well worth the money. The lumberjack special is the way to go if your really hungry. We arrived around 8:45 pm. We stood in front of the "please wait for hostess to seat you" podium. As we stood there for about 5 minutes, I could see the cook trying to tell the hostess we were there. There were only a few other people in there. I ordered the 55+ country fried steak and my step mother ordered the bourbon chicken dinner. I had the Caesar salad with my dinner, but the lettuce was obviously old and there was so much dressing, I couldn't eat it. The bourbon chicken platter was soooo sweet that it was hard to eat. We used to love going to Denny's in Rolla for breakfast. The last time we were there was just sad. The decor is dated and rundown. We were greeted promptly and drinks arrived in a timely manner. There were only a handful of diners but it was so loud in there we found it hard to sit and enjoy ourselves. When the food came we were even more disappointed. Stopped in as we were staying the night at the hotel next door. This Denny's was great. The waitress, Holly, was friendly and gave excellent service. The food was delicious. My dad usually is not impressed with the chicken in salads, (he had the Cranberry Apple Chicken Salad), and he said this was the first time the chicken was perfect. I had the broccoli cheddar soup. It was served with garlic bread. I definitely recommend it. My mom had the senior country-fried steak and said it was very good. I was really hungry on a road trip home , popped in for some biscuits and gravy and ordered online. Certainly their online system needs a little work but that's not the fault of this restaurant. They quickly let me know they were out of biscuits and gravy and upgraded my pancakes. This is our 3rd visit to our new Denny's. I feel I have enough experience now to make an honest, and informed review. First service, five star, Tony and Melissa ( aka Spoon) have been wonderful, professional, polite, on top of everything! We were seated with in seconds, and treated like VIPs! The restaurant is brand new so it is very clean and well done, the kitchen is open and I checked out the kitchen, it was clean, floors moped, no food on floor, as is common in most restaurant when it's really busy like when we have been here. The food, corporate menu, with seasonal menus based on the Hobbit, the sweet potato pancakes, are worth getting out in a snow storm for. The Smaug burger is kicking but not over the top hot. Very very good!!!!! Overall this new Denny's is 5/5...enjoy. Also, I never saw the bottom of my cup (thank you spoon). read more
