I have alpha gal and I found out that they have a menu for their Alpha Gal patrons. I let the man know at the front desk and he seated us to a safe table away from the kitchen. The manager brought out my food and talked with me about everything I have to be careful about. I feel I can let my guard down when we go there to eat. I highly recommend Colton's Steakhouse. Ordered two steak meals on a slow Tuesday, they overcooked one and undercooked the other. Then wanted to just re-cook the undercooked filet! Baked potatoes were cold, well below the safe service temp of 140 degrees. House salad was insipid and bland. The 23-year-old manager was unwilling to do anything about the meals, and was totally unapologetic about her staff's incompetence. I'm not sure what's happened to this place we used to go all the time, we went 2 weeks ago and the steaks were not good, this time tonight they were awful, my husband sent his back to recook as it was medium well and he ordered med rare. Then it comes back half medium half medium well. Also mine was about the same but I didn't want to wait and send it back, also the cut on the sirloin is awful it used to be good. It lacked flavor and my baked potato was so sorry, the tiniest little potato with a teaspoon on sour cream on it. They need to get it together! We eat on the healthier side and when traveling it can be a challenge. Normally am able to make small requests from deep fried to grill but that was near impossible. Staff were nice and got us food I feel timely. My server did serve me with a drink that looked like a dollop of mayo got into the glass. We have had good experiences in the past when dining at Colton's but unfortunately that was not the case this time. We went there to have an early dinner today for my Husband's Birthday and it was a huge mistake. We both ordered a New York Strip steak and a salad as one of our sides. We noticed that people at tables around us were getting their salads before us even though they came in after us but no big deal. We finally got our salad which was good...no complaints there but literally 3 minutes after getting our salad she brought out our entree. So we had no time to eat the salad. My Husband ordered his steak to be cooked medium and I ordered mine medium well. I also ordered baked potato. My Husband cut into his steak and it was almost purple from being raw. He tried to eat it but he said he felt like he was chewing on a raw piece of meat. I cut into my "medium well" and it was also almost raw and inedible. We called the waitress over and asked her to have the steaks cooked a little more so she took them back to the kitchen. In the meantime I cut into my hard undercooked potato that was so cold that the butter would not melt. When she brought the steaks back my Husband was able to eat his but mine was still too undercooked to eat. Also need to mention that we both sat there with empty glasses and not once did our waitress Jasmine offer us a refill. She did a lot of standing around and sitting at a booth with the hostess who was playing on her phone to really care that she had two very unhappy customers sitting at her table with empty glasses and undercooked cold food. She finally made her way back over to us....still no offer to refill our drinks and asked how we were doing. I asked her for a box so that I could take my steak home and cook it myself in my air fryer. You would think she would have offered to get a manager or something but she wasn't the slightest bit concerned. She brought me a box and dropped off the $60 ticket and told us to take our time paying. I am totally aware that she had nothing to do with the undercooked steak but she had everything to do with the empty glasses and the nonchalant attitude. She got a $1.58 tip which in my opinion was $1.58 more than she deserved. Not sure if we will ever go back to Colton's again after that terrible experience. read more

Nice local restaurant with a cowboy theme. Dined with some friends. We all ordered either the NY Strip steak or Pork Chops. The NY Strip Steak was 12 oz and served with choice of two sides. I chose the house salad with ranch dressing and sweet potato fries. The sweet potato fries were slightly undercooked, not crunchy. So I ate some of hubby's loaded baked potato. After you place your order, they bring out the bread basket. These are homemade yeast rolls that melt in your mouth. After a day on the bourbon trail we just ordered water to drink. Appetizers: fried pickles with spicy ranch dressing is very good and enough to share; JT's Onion Blossom is just like a bloomin onion from that Australian restaurant. read more

My first steak was way over cooked. The recook was still over done. Can't say I would blame the cook. Seems like the thickness of the cut is inconsistent, one half of the steak was Med to Med. Overall, this was pretty good. I got a new peddlers mall booth next to it and so last week, knowing that I would probably want to try this place I went ahead and signed up for their club. I got a free appetizer to begin with. I chose the mozzarella sticks and they were very large. The cheese was very soft and gooey and taste great , they had grated Parmesan on them. That was also delicious. The marinara dip was very good and not too chunky a good size cup of it. I got a bacon cheeseburger well done and it was still juicy even though I got it done and there was very little gristle the bacon was only mediocre, but it was passable, I paid the dollar extra to upgrade my side mac & cheese and it was also at least B+. It was pretty good. It wasn't baked or didn't have any big chunks of cheese in it, but it had a good sauce with perfectly cooked pasta and very buttery. nice flavor I enjoyed the two rolls. The waitress brought me. I am glad they have regular butter or margarine not that sweet stuff like Texas roadhouse Also had more chew and had a good flavor to them very satisfying. I just got water but they do have bonus points for that was very friendly and efficient brought everything very quickly and brought me to go boxes that fit my leftovers perfectly this place look clean, not all crowded nice and wide open and spacious. We picked this restaurant because they supposedly had gluten free food available. But they were incompetent when it comes to being knowledgeable about gluten free anything. We called ahead and asked if they had a gluten free menu; when we arrived they handed us a nutrition guide. When we asked about things that said it had gluten and if it could be modified to be gluten free; they asked the manager and they answered with "I don't know". We were just passing through and decided to stop to eat. I have to be honest I was thinking it was going to be a average steak place and I did not have high expectations. We came in and saw they had fried green tomatoes as a special. We both ordered steaks and the FGT as an appetizer. The FGT were fantastic, crispy, well seasoned 9.5/10 and with the sauce easily 10/10. The steaks came out and I had ordered medium which is hard for a thinner steak. Pretty good place for the price. Went early for dinner about 4:45 and were seated immediately. Got bread was served just out of the oven with whipped butter which was great since we were really hungry! I had the double pork chops with the raspberry sauce, topped with fried onions and a side of the loaded baked potato ($1extra and worth it). The pork chops were cooked to done but weren't terribly tough. Good flavor, especially with the raspberry sauce. Here I have to offer a suggestion... the raspberry sauce was served cold on the side in a little cup which just cooled down my hot chops when I spread it over. Would have been much better to baste those chops in it and hit it over the grill for a min or two. Still, a pretty good dish. The baked potato was delicious it otherwise nothing to say about it. My friend had the Montana burger, topped with onion straws, bacon, cheese, lettuce and tomato. It was huge!! He ordered the sweet potato fries which were served with a side of whipped marshmallow sauce which was a fun surprise. Service was great, wry attentive and was regularly asking if we needed anything. many issues. visit a month ago was horrible. manager was very flirtatious with me she was a female so am I it made me feel very uncomfortable! she was winking at me calling me sweety and was hanging out at our table way too long and touching my arm. I noticed how a lot of the booth seats were ripped, the place was dirty what happened! coming into the restaurant door on the right is so hard to open it opens halfway 2 times it swung back and hit my shoulder and bruised it badly I told the person at the front they could care less. Next visit today I ate lunch with my daughters and granddaughter we waited 1 hr and 15 mins before our food was out. they were on their lunch break we had to get boxes to go and paid our bill BEFORE THE FOOD WAS OUT. our waitress did not care either just said they had a large party did not look that away at all pretty slow. there was no excuse for the long delay on appetizer's drinks and food. Our family gathered at Colton's Steakhouse to celebrate my birthday. We had a group of 14 and they allowed us to meet in the "party room." Our server Elaina did an excellent job keeping up with all of us. She kept our drinks filled and all of our orders were accurate. She was very kind to my grandchildren and even helped put one of my granddaughters shoes back on when she could not get it on. He had an excellent time and were allowed to visit. This made my birthday celebration exceptional because my children and grandchildren traveled a great distance to meet with me there. Unfornately, it's very hit or miss. Today was not a good day. Went for lunch, and ended up leaving. Our server was just not good. He came and got our drink order, brought them, but then never came to take our meal order. We waited 20 minutes. He passed us 5-6 times. Heard table beside us complaining as well. After 20 minutes, we let the hostess know we were on a lunch break and couldn't wait much longer and decided to leave. I've been to this location a number of times and had good and not so good experiences. First time at Coltons never knew about them until we found them tonight. Took a few minutes to get seated because they were shorthanded was concerned maybe it would be a while before we got served or food but everything came out fast. My wife got the fillet, it had to be cooked a little bit more, but it was very good! I got the sirloin and ribs, a huge portion of food. Good bbq sauce. Salad was great, love the Caesar dressing but on a regular house salad. My wife likes Diet Coke and all they have is Coke zero. So she drink water. We decided to try the place despite the mixed reviews. We realize that the restaurant is new (under a year old) and that it might have some "growing pains" to overcome. So, we (2 of us) went there on a Sunday evening with a very open mind. The western-themed atmosphere is kind of cool until you enter the Main Dining area and are greeted by numerous heads of large mammals hanging on the walls. Elk, Bison, Mountain goats, a Texas Longhorn, a coyote and Three different species of deer hover overhead while you eat. It was really unnerving for me. I ordered a 1/2 rack of ribs with steamed veggies (broccoli) and sweet potato fries. The ribs came with coleslaw and the fries came with a marshmallow-cream sauce for dipping. They offer two ways to prepare the ribs: wet and dry. The "wet" ribs were prepared by basting the ribs as they cook, then also placing sauce on the meat when it is served. The dry ribs have no sauce at all during the cooking process or the presentation. I much prefer the wet ribs". The tenderness and flavor of the ribs are worth a return visit. Many times chain restaurants such as this offer food that is too salty. This was not the case in this experience. Our server was attentive without being overbearing or intrusive. He kept our sweet tea drinks full and our hot, buttered rolls coming. This was a pleasant dining experience, and except for the taxonomy animals hovering overhead, I really enjoyed it. I absolutely love roadhouse like steakhouses and that is exactly what Colton's is. Think Texas Roadhouse, Logan's, Cattleman's... Colton's goes unto that category. This was my second visit to Colton's, both times during the Kentucky Bourbon Festival. Both visits showed signs of understaffing. During. The. Biggest. Event of the year. The first time, last year, the experience was so weird, it seemed like a fluke. My meal was fantastic. My husband's was a flop. Chance #2... Night one in Bardstown and I called to place our to-go order. No answer on the phone. No answering machine. No recording, nothing. Frustrating because we were already heading that direction. I sent a Facebook message and that was immediately answered by their new GM. I will say that he handled it very professionally. Giving them another chance the next day, we sat on the patio. There are four tables out there, so it's not a huge patio. I started with a house salad, which was fantastic and filling. The Hidden Valley Ranch was a pleasant surprise. I ordered the sirloin and rib combo meal. Both were cooked to perfection. The sirloin at a medium well... just as I ordered it. Again, my husband's meal was a flop. More disappointing than that, he respectfully mentioned it to the waitress and she proceeded to argue with him. Note to management and staff in the service industry, be appreciative when someone addresses an issue to you directly. The ones who don't tell you fave to face, will either affect your word of mouth reputation, or walk away disappointed and never return. The GM again handled it very professionally. Again, the waitress came back to the table with a snooty comment and attitude. I hope the new GM can turn things around, but if the rest of the staff has the attitude of this waitress and the waiter that we had during our first visit, that will not be accomplished. read more

My favorite item to still order is their house salad and Texas house salad along the yummie grilled shrimp and my husband loves how they prepare their Salmon. SALAD: Fresh and Crispy lettuce/greens every time we have it! FISH: just cook to perfection. In our last visit, we had the manager come around our table to see if we needed anything and to see quality of the food served met our expectations. On our trips we normally do not eat at chain restaurants, however on a recent trip to Springfield, KY we did have dinner at Colton's in Bardstown, KY. We arrived for dinner around 615pm. We were greeted by a very friendly hostess. They were not very busy so we were seated right away. The decor of the restaurant is western and the music they play is country. That was one fun thing that I found, the booth that was behind us had a family of four sitting at it. The gentleman at the table would occasionally sing along with the music. I thought that was pretty neat. You don't usually find that kind of comfort in a chain restaurant. We started our meal with 2 appetizers: Fried Pickles (Dill slices coated in Colton's seasoned breading and fried to a golden crisp. Served with spicy ranch dressing.) and a small order of Cheese Fries (Steak fries layered in a blend of cheeses, topped with bacon and green onions. Served with spicy ranch dressing for dipping.). We enjoyed both of them. I really liked the spicy ranch that went with the Fried Pickles. I also liked that they used Steak Fries for the Cheese Fries. For dinner I had the 10oz Ribeye with a side salad and fried okra. Jenni had the New York Strip with a side salad and a loaded baked potato. Our steaks were cooked perfect. The seasoning that they use was just enough to enhance the natural flavor of the beef. I loved the salad- everything in it was fresh. I loved the crisp of the lettuce. Jenni enjoyed her loaded bake potato. She said that the potato texture was smooth (not grainy like some baked potatoes). The fried okra was just so-so. I know when you travel to the area, you usually are looking for a yummy local place to eat. I think you should be open to giving Colton's a try. If you traveling with a family, there is something on the menu for everyone. The prices are very affordable. I recommend Colton's for a nice, affordable, and tasty dinner. read more
