In the last three…read moreyears I've spent probably thousands of dollars and many trips to the vet for various cat ailments and check ups. Some in Pennsylvania and some here in the CSRA. At almost all of them I've been disappointed in the cost and lack of expense disclosure before a service is done, but it's also just a hassle to get scheduled for things that aren't super emergent but also can't wait for a month. CSRA Life Saver is a low cost preventative vet clinic. That means they do not treat sick animals, and they can't prescribe much other than some preventative flea/tick/heart worm medicines and dewormers. What they DO offer is walk in appointments (they do not schedule ahead except for spay/neuter surgeries), vaccines, microchips, pet health maintenance (like ear mite cleaning, deworming, nail trims, etc). Their prices are listed clearly online and in the office, and they require that you fill out a form ahead of time and clearly mark which services you want that day. When you arrive, you fill that out first (or you can print it at home and bring it in) then go in to the desk and sign in. By the number of chairs I saw, the wait can get long at times but both times I've been so far there was very little wait. Because they do minimal services, appointments don't last very long and they can see a lot of people. Their prices are the lowest I've found by a LOT and they seem interested in just doing what they can to help animals and owners in a timely manner. The office itself is pretty simple- it's an old house type building converted to an office. There is some indoor waiting room area but many chairs on the porch for overflow. I did not accompany my cat into the exam room and didn't see other owners do that either, so just be ready for that. They take cards and cash. The only issue I've had is the microchip I got on my kitten seems to have moved from the shoulder blade location I assumed they inserted it at, but I think that's more likely my kitten being a little underweight for his age (a recent stray we took in). I wish they had mentioned prior to the microchipping that you can't bathe the animal for a few days, and now with the movement of the chip I wish I'd waited to get that done til they neuter him or something but it's too late now. Overall, the prices cannot be beat and they offer helpful guidance on saving money and getting what's best for your pet.

Think of the animals instead of yourselves. Rescue is unforgiving and hard and these are petty reasons to leave a bad review for an animal rescue. That said, this is a no kill shelter! I went to the Augusta Humane Society on Monday to adopt two older cats. When we came there we saw several cats outside and inside running around and just being cats/kittens. My heart was ready to adopt. Now it smelled like animals/stinky and I could tell that they had a very small budget, so please donate to this place. As we talked to the very friendly lady we realized that we were not "eligible" to adopt the older cats. The primary reason was our intentions were to declaw them in the front. The lady told me to "do the research" on declawing kittens/cats. She told me several times that not only did the Vet at the Humane Society not approve in declawing but one other local vet did not either. We were also told that other states like Maryland had laws that it was illegal. She also said it was illegal in many places overseas. So I did the research. The reason this against declawing even came up was from the Big Cats. Meaning, declawing exotic or native wild cat species. I did my research and found out Georgia HAS NO LAWS about this and this woman and her vet did not want to let anyone adopt these poor animals if they thought you would declaw. I have had cats who lived INSIDE the house for 21 years and they were declawed. Yes, I am saddened that this place have placed their own "opinions" over the needs of the animals. Too many animals need a loving home and sadly again, depending on the vets opinion, not Georgia legal laws, many will not ever find a home. Sad, sad, sad.

It does not matter if the operator is brusque or rude; I would be too if I spent all day dealing with owners who suddenly find their four-footed companions to be an inconvenience. Don't get an animal if you are not prepared to take them on for life. They are not disposable, they are a real commitment. Admire them from afar if you cannot make that commitment or cannot make responsible arrangements for them if and when a major upheaval occurs such as loss of a home, illness or financial ruin. Don't just open your door and kick them out or, alternatively, close your door with them inside and move away. We are better than that and they deserve better.

And my family, family including the furry members (Benny, Bella, Oliver). The three of them have me wrapped around their little paws. There is nothing I would not do for them. And so yes, I spoil them. The best food, treats, toys, bed, etc. They get it all. Even keep cold water in their bowl during the summer months. So when it comes to a place to shop I can't just hope for the best. And the team, they have to love my furry ones almost as much as I do. I don't care if you ignore me or never ask my name. But you best be getting down on their level and telling them how amazing they are and asking if they want a treat (of course the answer is always yes). And here, it happens every time. It doesn't matter if it's a slow day and I'm the only customer or there's an adoption event and the place is packed; my crew gets acknowledged. Over the years I have come for extra stuff like ear wipes and CBD treats (side note: those things work!). Of course the wall of toys is always a stop. And if I have questions or need further explanation on something, they are there to help. Oh yeah, they also delivery! Like to your front door so you don't even have to get off the sofa delivery. Love this place. You should too.

Heard about the farm through Facebook. It's officially closed to the public because of the pandemic…read more( August 2020 ) but they are still accepting volunteers. The website is clear and complete about the animals at the farm. 300 + animals! Holy Cow. We decided to volunteer one morning from 8:30am - 11:30am. What an experience. We were assigned to dump old water, clean out the buckets and pools, and refill them all. For 200 pigs. Wow. Most of the pigs would walk up to you and were curious. Most of them you could pet. None of them were aggressive or scary. The farm is mainly sandy, you definitely need a good pair of rubber boots. Sometimes it's wet, sometimes there is poop. Put bug spray and sunscreen on. We watched the caretaker feed the pigs. That was a site in itself! Then we helped pick up poop in the cow/horse/donkey enclosure. I have to say, it was a great experience. Josh, the caretaker took the time to answer numerous question about all of the animals. Sign up online to give a little time. The could use your help!

Sometimes, they have all spots filled for the day by 8am. If you have recently lost a pet, they take donations of old pet beds, kennels/runs, and grooming supplies. You can also show up around 11am and apply for pet adoption. Basic vet services are less expensive. Nail trimming, shots, spay/neuter, and health check are a few of their services.
