I want to share about the consistent care Highland has always provided. We have three furry family members, and seven total over the past 7 years*. Highland has seen them all. *It's worth mentioning that we cared for a few hospice and elderly dogs at the beginning. You can usually get an appointment within a week, but if it's an emergency they will squeeze you in. They also care for other animals. I've seen cats, birds, and ferrets in that lobby. My crew has had annual check ups, teeth cleaned, teeth removed, anal glands expressed here. I appreicate their love for our furry family and recommend them to others.

It seems like all they are interested in is money. When I took my pet there for her annual exam it was like they did not have time to go over anything with me. They are not cheap either. Then when I called the other day to pick up a script for her flea and tick meds, because they charge much more than Costco, I was told there was a $10 fee for the script. It's disappointing because I have recommended them to many friends and new people in the area. I have my girl groomed at Paws in Paradise and they have been great and even given her bordatella vaccine if needed with no extra exam fee. Hammond Hills Animal Hospital saved our dog's life and her leg…read more Four weeks ago today, our Labrador, Luna, suffered a devastating injury while fetching a ball. She deeply cut her front leg on a glass landscape light and the injury was severe with profuse bleeding. Because she was bleeding so heavily, we did not have time to make the 45-minute drive to our regular veterinarian or call ahead to find one nearby. Instead, we rushed her to Hammond Hills Animal Hospital, just a couple of minutes from our home. It turned out to be one of the best decisions we could have made. While my wife held pressure, I ran inside to ask for help. They immediately sent Morgan to meet us in the parking lot. She applied pressure bandages to help control the bleeding and helped us get Luna safely inside. The staff dropped what they were doing and rushed her into surgery. After a long and complex operation performed by Dr. Rutt and the surgical team, we learned that Luna had severed two arteries, numerous veins, muscles, and a tendon on the back of her front leg beneath her carpal pad. It was a serious injury, and we knew her recovery would be a long one. Over the past four weeks, the team at Hammond Hills has been with us every step of the way. Every injury--and every dog--is different, but they continually adjusted Luna's treatment plan as she healed. They patiently taught us how to change her bandages at home, offered new ideas when challenges arose, guided us through home sedation, infections, complications, and were always available to answer questions and make changes when needed. Their expertise, compassion, and encouragement gave Luna the best possible chance to recover. Today, four weeks later, Luna is making wonderful progress, and we couldn't be more grateful. We feel like we didn't just find an outstanding veterinary hospital--we found a team of people who genuinely care about their patients and the families who love them. We now have complete confidence in Hammond Hills and they now care for all of our pets. A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Rutt, Morgan, Jennifer, Brooke, Christine, Kent, and especially Karen. When the Aiken vet that my husband's family has used for 20+ years, proved it was not a worthy vet, I decided that All God's Creatures would be the place that we would go, no matter how far I had to drive. He had dental surgery scheduled yesterday morning and I called them on Friday to ask if they would be reaching out to let us know of any changes in operating hours on Monday because of the weather. I was assured that they would let me know. Drove 45 minutes and I arrived for surgery at 7:40 AM and nobody was there. I called the only phone number that they have with no answer, knocked on the door and I sat there until 815. There was no way I was going to drive home immediately so I went looking on Facebook to see if there was somebody, anybody that I could reach out to to find out what was going on. I don't follow them on Facebook. And right there was a post saying that they were not going to open until 10:00 AM due to the weather and they would reach out to reschedule via their Facebook page and email. I checked my email and there was nothing. Nohing in junk mail, no phone calls, voicemails, texts. Nothing. Drove another 45 minutes to take my dog home and get myself to work. I'm at work for 30 minutes and I get a phone call asking me to bring him in "now" at which time I explained to her what happened and it was completely blown over. I left work and I went home and got my dog, drove to Augusta again and I took him in. While there I explained to someone else what happened and it again was completely disregarded. "They were supposed to email the cancellations". BUT YOU DIDN'T! And WHY would an email be a sufficient means in which to cancel a surgery??? Not only do I not get notifications for my emails, I don't look at them daily. So even if I had gotten one I wouldn't have known. She tells me they're gonna start the surgery in about 30 minutes and I should get a phone call around 2 PM. Updating me about how it went. I didn't receive any phone call anywhere around 2 o'clock so sometime around 3:30 I started calling to see what was going on. ALL DAY FROM THE MOMENT I TRIED TO DROP HIM OFF I MADE 22 calls and not one was answered. No compensation, no sincere apology, NOTHING. Well, I have a big mouth and I will run it about this interaction until the end of my days when anything involving veterinary care comes up with anyone I'm talking to. For seven years, I've told people about the amazing visits that we've had there and that's over. The staff that you had is clearly not the staff that you have now. My husband also said when he picked him up that the girl at the front was not friendly at all. Also, at our pre-surgical appointment the tech that came into the room was grossly picking food out of her back molars with her fingers after she walked into the room. Gross. And maybe don't do that. On a positive note, it was cheaper than the quote we got at the overrated Aiken Vet and my dog is alive and doing well today.

Before we found a permanent living situation we were in Airbnbs and our older cat was having some serious health issues and we really thought she wasn't going to make it through the holidays last year. We went to another vet in town that at that time was closer for us and I was just constantly disappointed in the care she got and how they treated me (who was also dealing with a 7 month old baby at the time). Fast forward to our new house closer to north Augusta and a nearby stray cat colony with kittens that started appearing out of nowhere. The old vet got increasingly worse so I desperately searched for a new vet closer to us and found BFAC. They seem fairly new and I went in expecting disappointment again but Dr Santos was a godsend. We'd been battling parasites in the foster kittens that somehow transmitted to my other cats and I was in a stressful season trying to keep my toddler and cats all healthy. Dr Santos listened to my concerns, was so kind and respectful, and ultimately helped resolve our issues within a week (where the other vet had been dragging things out for weekS). I also had Dr Santos reassess our oldest cat and she explained why she wanted to do certain blood panels and try a specific treatment plan. No others vets had done that for me despite me asking for explanations. Our cats health issues aren't totally gone but they have dramatically improved and I'm very thankful for that. The receptionist ladies (Lauren and Michelle, I think are their names) are both awesome. They are so kind and love to see each and every animal (and even my toddler) who walks in that door. They have called to follow up on things and are quick at getting back to me when I have questions. The techs have all been great as well. Most recently we've seen the new doctor, Dr Mele, and she is great too! The clinic is super convenient for me and has a nice waiting room. Their prices are pretty average compared to other vets in the area (I have called a lot asking for prices so I've done my research). I like that they are willing to prescribe things for ordering on Chewy as I use Chewy a lot but they sell many things in clinic and can order things for you too. Overall I am very satisfied with BFAC and will continue to recommend them to anyone needing veterinary care in the CSRA.

Everyone there took it all in stride and handled Bear wonderfully. They did not get rough with him or get scared by all his growling and ugly ways. By far, the staff and Dr. Vann handled him amazingly. We have since made it home to LA and Bear has seen our local vet but Dr. Vann and staff managed Bear better than any other vet he has seen. If we lived in Augusta, we would definitely be using Walton Way for all our vet care needs. I cannot say enough great things about them.
